An Emerald Abyss
I’m excited to get this book out everywhere and then of course nervous-excitement while I wait for some reviews!I’m a veteran from the 80’s. I served with the 82nd airborne-we conducted some difficult and dangerous training, but I never served during combat operations. This book and my feeling behind the writing are very strong; I hope that it bleeds through the pages.“Yes but Mark, didn’t you get some assistance from the veterans administration?”-You asked.Ok, sure I did, but one of the first things they did was to run me all around NY State, giving me appointments in Rochester, Canandaigua, and Buffalo and they sent me letters informing me that a missed appointment meant that I would forfeit all benefits.“Obviously they sent you to see specialist-right?”-you ask.One of the appointments I went to I sat for hours in the dark depressing waiting area looking up eagerly each time a nurse came out from behind the doors to call a name. Finally a man, clearly in his seventies, opened the door and called my name. I followed him down a very dark and empty hallway; I remember thinking how strange that the place seemed nearly deserted- you just expect it to be like a bustling ant hill behind those doors? Also it took a long time because the gentleman walked like Tim Conway used to for the “old man” skits on the Carol Burnett show-seriously!I thought to myself how nice it was that they gave some older veterans a job around the facility- then the old guy let out a very brassy, loud, and rumbling fart. He didn't bother to even look around just kept shuffling forward.Yea, I was following.Anyway he tells me to take a seat in a room and I sit staring at the door for another half hour.In walks the “old guy” now in his white lab coat? He was the doctor! He looked at my knee and I was out in five minutes. (I had been examined by the best at Womack Army Medical Center.)Anyway- please enjoy An Emerald Abyss, (paperback within a few weeks!) but also keep in mind the men and women that give/gave so much to ensure that our Country remains safe and free. And always- I’m trying to entertain you, please tell me how I’m doing by sending an email or heading to my author page at Facebook (a review would be nice)!Thank you.

Readers
I have been working hard on getting all my books into paperback. The reason I had none before was strictly a financial one. If you look at costs to get a book up as an eBook compared to paperback, then you would see why someone would forgo the latter.
However, I would say that once the eBook has taken my last penny, I realized that for an additional 1/3 of the total cost of getting the eBook up and out there, I could have a paperback as well!
Here is a huge plus of the paperback conversion, I have word files of each of my books that I uploaded to be re-formatted for paper, and then the company, CreateSpace, sends me a digital version that I can review for errors. For An Angry Orange Sky and A Hint of Silver I found an additional 10 errors within the documents. That means that the paperbacks are cleaner and more error free than the eBooks and that is a very good thing! (Of course the company charges me for each batch of errors that I needed fixing) I must admit that in one book after I had read it several times and paid for the repairs that needed to be completed, I found a missing period-I did not pay $80.00 to have that added, so my bad. If you’re a grammar Nazi please use a pen to add; my apologies!
By mid-August I believe I will have the entire book line-up in both eBook and paperback, and then I will focus all my energies on re-writing A Deep Purple Hue.
Until then, please continue to follow, sign up for the Giveawayswhen I can offer them and remember- a review is a valuable gift!Thank you.

Villain or Hero
Gordan Hudde is a fictional character envisioned by author Mark Hudson. His desire to have modern day problems addressed in effective and final ways caused Hudson to dream up a man 1/3 Dirty Harry, 1/3 Jason Borne, and 1/3 Conan the barbarian.
These men do walk among us, trained to blend in and adapt in the most difficult and diverse environments. Trained to evaluate situations and act with swift and violent action when necessary, Gordan Hudde is one of these men; no longer shackled by the Government that helped create him, he now seeks out peace and his own path in life.
But while Gordan Hudde may feel done with the world, the world is not done with Gordan Hudde.
So far readers seem unable to decide whether they love or hate him, whether he is a good or evil man, read for yourself and then you can weigh in; Gordan Hudde hero or villain?

Gordan Hudde: the movie.
When they make my books into movies, I hope they do them justice.
http://www.markhudsonofficialsite.com/
I was so excited as a 12 year old when my hero Doc Savage was coming out on the big screen! Oh the horror of having to see a perfectly cast Ron Ely (should have had a flat top) in a campy, silly movie, could only have been worse if it were a musical.
Equally disappointing was the Travis McGee movie in which they may as well floated the Busted Flush straight onto the rocks of the island of never-to-b-seen-again.
Now the horribly casting of Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher; will anyone read the book after seeing the movie? I think not. Full discloser, I am mostly a fan of Cruise, even enjoyed some that has been panned by critics, and he seems to really throw himself into his movies. He seems very believable as a tough guy, but the physicality of the Reacher character, a 6’5ish tough guy is way different than a 5’8ish?
I have loved reading all the above books, on second thought maybe I don’t want a movie made?

For much more!
I had a reoccurring dream last night.
I show up at a military base and first search frantically for my barracks, finally finding it I wait to see the CO. When I get to my locker, none of my uniforms have been sewn up and patched out-meaning name badge, unit patch, jump wings, and rank are not on the uniform. Of course this means I’m totally unprepared and will get in trouble.
Crazy, like you don’t have the opportunity to fail enough in real life, my brain makes me face this during sleep. Maybe I’m stressing about the future?
Speaking of the future, my next installment of the Gordan Hudde series is pretty much plotted out and I feel the same passion that I have of the others, a very good thing; but I keep running into our election and my strong feelings about it.
While I daydream about scenes to write and direction/tone of the future book AN EMERALD ABYSS, I have written almost nothing in October.
Maybe that’s the reason for the dream.
Gordan Hudde would not approve.

Please see my blog for this and more: http://www.markhudsonofficialsite.com...
I can’t remember not liking to read, my memory doesn’t go back far enough. I loved riding my banana seat, five speed bike up to the town library to pick out a selection. (I wrote a bit about this in Hint of Silver)
I think the first series that I remember getting into was the Hardy boys; kids just a little older than me being able to solve crimes that the adults couldn’t solve or didn’t even realize were happening.
I found The Man of Bronze, a 1930's hero that traveled the world with his team of experts to fight evil; he was kind of a Batman like character.
Who doesn't like Tarzan; Edgar Rice Burroughs and his hero John Carter on Mars, I began gravitating towards powerful men who got things done through grit, determination, and sheer force of will.
One of my high school friends father gave me The Green Ripper by John D. Macdonald (he wrote the novel that became the movie Cape Fear) and I was hooked on Travis McGee the larger than life hero of that series.
Sure I strayed and read some Steven King and while in the military I read quite a bit of William W Johnstone but I quickly came back to Jack Ryan, Jack Reacher, and Mitch Rapp.
I desire to do them all proud when writing my Gordan Hudde series, whether the books ever sell or not, these men influence my writing and I enjoyed all those hours of leaving my own body to fight cruelty, injustice, and evil through the supermen that they gave us.

Missing Children
There it is folks, my newest in the Gordan Hudde series A HINT OF SILVER. It sickened me doing research about suspects, and cases. If you can stomach it, please let me know how I have done. I needed to have a hero address this problem.
