Grim Tidings Podcast Mental Health Episode
Shortly after the suicide of SFF author Logan L. Masterson, Grim Tidings Podcaster Rob Matheny reached out to me with interest in doing a podcast panel/episode on mental health & the arts.
In light of the year we’ve had in fandom, it seemed right to talk about mental health and the struggles of creative types. For reasons outside of Rob’s control, the podcast we recorded was delayed a bit, but Rob worked diligently to get this episode out there.
It’s a great episode that talks about the importa...

Surgery Update
I am WAY overdue on a surgery update–mostly because I spent the first week after surgery in a drug-induced state of alternating sleep and daze–but I figured now was a good time to update you!
Surgery to remove my gallbladder went well, though I am still recovering. Five incisions (about 2″ each in length) are glued together, and I have to be careful not to twist, bend, or lift anything (at least nothing heavier than a milk carton) to ensure that everything heals and neither the glue or the int...

What I Love about This Cover: This cover is photo-realistic, rather than being a painted work. I’m not usually a fan of photo-realistic covers because they usually end up being a bad Photoshop composite. However, with this book cover, they set up the model with appropriate clothing in an appropriate setting so that little Photoshop was needed. That type of cover I like!
What I Don’t Love about This Cover: On...

Surgery
7 AM tomorrow morning I’ll be heading in for some unexpected surgery. Fun times, let me tell you!
Everything is going to be delayed a week or so as I discovered last week (via ultrasound) that I have a gallstone. What I thought was a stomach virus was my bile duct being blocked by a stone. That means I’ve been on the B.R.A.T. diet (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, & Toast) for the past 11 days. Oddly enough, the gallstone pain has kept me from missing real food (mostly).
Tomorrow m...

TT: Black Notice
Since I’ve got a story in a magical realism anthology coming out soon and featuring a detective, I felt it fitting to have a Throwback Thursday featuring a great crime series.
What I Love about This Cover: It’s simple, yet intriguing. I love the wolf in the background, which adds to the idea of being hunted.
What I Don’t Love about This Cover: In some ways, it really doesn’t tell me anything about the plot. It focuses too much on...
