Zelda + Eerl = WIN
Zelda + Eerl = WIN. Or at least it does for me.
For those of you who missed my reading at Norwescon 40, I opened by reading from The Legend of Zelda manual (the original one from the NES days) from Eerl’s point of view (Class-M Exile). I had a lot of requests to record it for those who missed it, so I did.
You can see a very tired, sinus-infected me read it below–

TT: The Death of Sleep
The Death of Sleep was the first book I ever read centered around the idea of cryosleep. I still love this series, old though this cover may be.
What I Love about This Cover: This cover is very much a period of its time (and publisher), but I appreciate that. When I was a kid, I always wanted to know more about the woman on the cover and what device was strapped to her back.
What I Don’t Love about Th...

Norwescon 40 Wrap-Up
Norwescon is definitely one of my favorite conventions, and Norwescon 40 was no exception; mostly because it’s full of my people: science fiction and fantasy geeks, gamers, scientists, filkers, and cosplayers.
[image error]Beyond the normal clusterfusk that is Norwescon / Doubletree Hotel parking, Thursday was the day we slept in the most as I didn’t have to be there for pro-check-in until noon, and after that, a workshop at 3. We checked in, had some lunch, played a little Magic the Gathering, and before...

Sci-fy Shenanigans
I’ll have my Norwescon 40 wrap-up posted later this week (still catching up on sleep!) but for now, I’ve got an in-depth interview over on Sci-fy Shenanigans (aka JR Handley’s blog), so check it out! I talk about Class-M Exile, The Eldest Silence, and Amaskan’s Blood (and Amaskan’s War!).

Ozma Award Winner!
So I completely missed doing my Monday Night Gaming post on Monday because I was too busy recovering from Amaskan’s Blood winning an Ozma Fantasy Award!!
I won my first award on my late-grandmother’s birthday. I wish she could have been here to see it.
Lots of photos to follow.
The picture below is from the start of the Awards’ Gala, featuring author Jesikah Sundin and me in Bellingham, WA. It’s hard to see in this shot but I was dressed as a TARDIS from Doctor Who. You’ll get a better shot...

OZMA Awards
Amaskan’s Blood was short-listed FINALIST for the Chanticleer OZMA Fantasy Awards, with the winner being announced this weekend on Saturday, April 1st.
While Amaskan’s Blood was a FINALIST in the 2016 EPIC Awards, this is my first short-listed award with an actual awards’ ceremony, so I’m pretty excited.
I’ll be driving up to Bellingham, WA on Saturday for the gala while thinking of my late grandmother. Her birthday was April 1st. I think she would be proud to know my stories are out there in...

Semi-Colons
This week is the anniversary of when author Logan L. Masterson killed himself. He was a writer at the beginning of his career and a friend. As someone who also struggles with depression and anxiety, I’d been wanting to do something for quite some time–join the semi-colon project in a permanent way–both to honor him and other friends I’ve lost to depression and suicide, and to honor myself and my journey.
According to the semi-colon project website, the movement uses a semicolon to symbolize i...
