TT: Spirit Fox
What I Love about This Cover: This cover is photo-realistic, rather than being a painted work. I’m not usually a fan of photo-realistic covers because they usually end up being a bad Photoshop composite. However, with this book cover, they set up the model with appropriate clothing in an appropriate setting so that little Photoshop was needed. That type of cover I like!
What I Don’t Love about This Cover: On...

Surgery
7 AM tomorrow morning I’ll be heading in for some unexpected surgery. Fun times, let me tell you!
Everything is going to be delayed a week or so as I discovered last week (via ultrasound) that I have a gallstone. What I thought was a stomach virus was my bile duct being blocked by a stone. That means I’ve been on the B.R.A.T. diet (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, & Toast) for the past 11 days. Oddly enough, the gallstone pain has kept me from missing real food (mostly).
Tomorrow m...

TT: Black Notice
Since I’ve got a story in a magical realism anthology coming out soon and featuring a detective, I felt it fitting to have a Throwback Thursday featuring a great crime series.
What I Love about This Cover: It’s simple, yet intriguing. I love the wolf in the background, which adds to the idea of being hunted.
What I Don’t Love about This Cover: In some ways, it really doesn’t tell me anything about the plot. It focuses too much on...

Anthology Pre-Order
It’s Anthology Pre-Order time! I’ve got stories in two anthologies coming out in October, and both are available for pre-order on Amazon in eBook format. Print pre-orders will come soon, and I’ll post about that then. In the meantime, here is some information about both anthologies and my stories in them!
My story “Q-Be” will appear in Untethered: A Magic iPhone Anthology. Take the horrific freemium model apps and games use these days and toss in college students’ dependence on their phone and...

Series Worth a Year of Your Life
As part of author Andy Peloquin‘s book birthday & release of Lament of the Fallen, I was on an online panel with Jaime O. Mayer, Andy, Kristy Carey, and Rachel Marks about what series are worth a year of our lives (as readers and writers).
It’s posted on Facebook as a video but not on YouTube (at least not yet). For now, you’ll have to go to Facebook to view the panel. Click on the image below or HERE to view.

TT: The Broken Crown
What I Love about This Cover: This cover carries the culture of the East without being insulting. It’s also incredibly gorgeous.
What I Don’t Love about This Cover: I’m not huge on the fleur-de-lis around the word The at the top of the book.

MNG: Eldritch Moon
Recently, Wizards of the Coast released the next expansion in its ever-running Magic: the Gathering game entitled Eldritch Moon. Due to my convention/events schedule, we didn’t get the opportunity to participate in a pre-release draft tournament, but we did buy a box and do our own mini-draft post-release.
These 205 cards make up set 2 of 2 of the Shadows over Innistrad block. While mechanics such as Escalate and Delir...

Anglicon Wrap-Up
One of the things I most love about the Seattle area is that we have a Doctor Who/British convention. What’s not to love about that? Toss in my ability to be a panelist and vendor and I’m sold!
This past weekend was Anglicon 2016, where I served on 5 panels, ran a game show, and co-ran a booth in the dealer’s room as Books & Chains. We arrived on Friday morning with 5 crates, most of which contained books. It took us about an hour to set up our booth, which was in a great location.

Oddly enoug...

Bibliophilia Review
Walking into a project like Bibliophilia, I had no idea what to expect. I’d seen Comedy Sportz Seattle perform improv before (and quite comically), but perform my book Class-M Exile?
Lucky for me, I had one of the best improv groups around to bring Class-M Exile to life on the stage.
After a wonderful welcome, Word Lit Zine‘s editor-in-chief, Jekeva Phillips, did a short interview with me about my book, my writing, and the perilous traffic jam that turned a 35 minute drive into an almost three...
