My Engineer (2020)

 An engineer has to be hot stuff in the boyfriend market... Joke aside, My Engineer is, yet again, a college romance with an engineer as part of the couple. As usual the engineer is big on having the younger students respecting the SOTUS rules, even if those students are not engineers. This is the case of Bohn who forces Duen to bring him a flower per day, causing of course Duen to lose study time and people to notice the exchange. It's clear that Bohn has ulterior reasons, and Duen, for how much naive is, has anyway understood it. Duen is playing hard to catch, and in a way, I like this streak of him. What I found a little bit disappointing is that they want us to believe that, even after they are boyfriends, Bohn is still praying Duen for a kiss, let aside other stuff. Anyway, this was funny and sweet, not big drama, there is the usual evil girl in the middle, but in this case she seems more stupid than evil, and, cherry on the top, King and Ram, the couple that, for me, basically stole the scene to Bohn and Duen: at one point, tired of waiting for the kiss, I was completely into the development of King and Ram's story. Dakaichi - I'm being harassed by the sexiest man of the year (2018)

Dakaichi tells the romance between two main lead actors competing for the title of Sexiest Man of the Year. Takato Saijou has won the title for the past five years, and for the first time he is defeated by Junta Azumaya, a newcomer actor. Takato and Junta are also working on the same project, to Takato's dismay he has the supporting role to Junta who is the main lead. But what Takato doesn't know is that Junta is madly in love with him and he will do everything to conquer the aloof Takato. Quite sexy but also funny romance, it put a smile on my face, I imagined Junta as an overexcited labrador puppy interacting with a sleak and cool black cat that was Takato.

Ingredients (2020)

 I enjoyed Ingredients way more than expected, and from the very first introduction episode, where they interview the characters. Their answers set me in the mood for what was happening. I was surprise from this series since I usually don't like the vignette approach: each episode is a vignette, but instead of ruining the storyline, each vignette was building their relationship. Tops and Marwin are young and cute, and their love is sweet. Sure, it's not a immediate HEA, I have the feeling there was the idea for a sequel that never happened, but nevertheless, I really enjoyed this one. You can see it on GagaOOLala. Heat Level: 3/6.

You Make Me Dance (2021)

 You Make Me Dance was pretty much sweet despite the story revolving around the fact that Jin Hong Seok is a loan shark. Sincerely, if you removed Jin Hong Seok's job from the picture, I would have probably liked better the story, that part of the plot seemed unrealistic, but maybe I'm judging it from a western point of view. Said that, Song Shi On and Jin Hong Seok are a cute couple, their romance is sweet and almost fairytale, with that apartment on the rooftop that I see as a symbol of it being a refuge from reality, far from the crazy crowd, far from their murmuring and gossiping. But reality is waiting them outside. HEA. You can see it on Viki and WeTV. Heat Level: 4/6.

HIStory4: Close to You (2021)

 Close to You was a good comedy. On the contrary of many, I liked both couples, with some reserves. Xiao Li Cheng, Teng Mu Ren, and Ye Xing Si are best friends and colleagues, sharing an apartment. They are completely different in character, but a deep friendship, bordering in bromance, links them. But Ye Xing Si has a secret he has never revealed, neither to his friends: he is gay. Despite being the only gay in the group of friends, when Xiao Li Cheng decides to fake a same-sex relationship to attract the attention of a woman colleague with the passion for BL, Teng Mu Ren is the chosen "boyfriend". We can see that the bond between Xiao Li Cheng and Teng Mu Ren is indeed deep, they basically complete each other. From friends to lovers the step is quick and their love story is cute and sexy, funny when necessary but not crass. Actually both of them inspire me to be sweet. Now Ye Xing Si: during the story we discover there is a stalker and this stalker is Ye Xing Si's stepbrother, Fu Yong Jie. There is no blood relation between them, their respective parent married when Ye Xing Si was a college student and Fu Yong Jie a teenager. Fu Yong Jie is introvert, moody, asocial and a lot of other issues. He is obsessed by Ye Xing Si, arriving to force him to have sex while drunk. It's non consensual, so that is where my reserve are. I don't care as many saying this is incest, there is no blood relation between them, but the way Fu Yong Jie forced Ye Xing Si is what I had issue accepting. It was difficult, cause, aside that, I liked this couple, and this episode marred my enjoyment of their story. HEA. You can see it on Viki. Heat Level: 4/6.

Yes, No, or Maybe? (2020)

Not sure I completely understood the message of Yes, No, or Maybe?, and yes, for once, the sex scene was quite out of character. The story is cute, the romance is slow burning, and the characters are nice, so up until the end, and that sex scene, I was enjoying it. So, let's say that the writer wanted to make it funny, but it was a hige mistep I suppose.

Sensitive Pornograph (2004)

Yes, Sensitive Pornograph is actually a hard-core story, but it's not just porn. There is actually a story, and I really liked the character of Aki, he is this sort of innocent character despite having had a lot of sexual experience. But he is innocent in love, all the sex partner before had his body but never reached his heart. And when he is rejected by Sono, it's hurting him, but he is not lashing against Sono. Sensitive Pornograph is a two stories anime, the two stories have no connection between them. The second one is just a vignette, more porn than romance actually, but again, not so stupid in the end. Again I liked the character of Seiji.

World's Greatest First Love (2011)

World's Greatest First Love is from the same author of Junjou Romantica, and it's again about 4 couples (5 if you consider also the movie, which is about the couple I prefer, Takafumi and Zen. In World's Greatest First Love the concept, is, indeed, the first love. Starting from the main couple, Masamune and Ritsu, who first met in high school, and then, after a 10 years separation, are now colleagues. Masamune never forgot Ritsu, while instead, I had the impression Ritsu forgot about Masamune. This is quite strange, since it was Ritsu who had a 3 years long crush for Masamune when he was a teenager. The second couple is Shouta and Yoshiyuki, again childhood friends, and again first time lovers, even if they arrive to consummate their relationship as adults. The third couple is the one that probably I prefer, Chiaki and Kou. Chiaki has never being in love, despite having had quite a lot of lovers; he is pining for the perfect man and he doesn't want to believe that the younger, and more handsome, Kou is interested in him. He rejects Kou and does everything in his own to destroy the feelings Kou has for him. Of course he will not manage it. Isaka and Asahina are playing one of the thrope I prefer, that of the rich man and his valet, where the role of seme and uke are reversed: the valet is actually the seme, taking care of his uke in every aspect of the uke's life. Of course Isaka is completely dependent, in love and life, from Asahina. Takafumi and Zen, the couple who star in the movie, is my favorite. Takafumi has been in love with Masamune since their college years together, but Masamune, while accepting a sexual relationship with him, has never reciprocate the feeling. Zen will convince Takafumi that a first love that has never had the chance to blossom, is not real, and that Takafumi can have the real deal with him.

Sasaki and Miyano (2022)

Sasaki and Miyano was very sweet, a very standard high school romance but almost perfect to my opinion. It was to think that Miyano, the younger boy who starts to lend BL mangas to the older Sasaki is actually the one questioning their love. Sasaki, who has never had an interested in another boy, is the one who declares to Miyano his love, and he is also the one willing to wait all the time Miyano needs to accept it. For once there is absolutely no forcing these feelings on the uke, and actually, I think that saying Sasaki is the seme and Miyano is the uke is not even right... I can easily imagining that this couple, when the time will come, will probably have an equal level relationship.

The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window (2021)

In comparison to the movie, the anime version is playing way more on the sexual tension between Kousuke and Rihito, and it's clear that Rihito is considering their a relationship. There is also a better explanation on the fact that Kousuke is feeling sexual pleasure when Rihito is using him as a conduit for the exorcisms, and actually Rihito suggest to Kousuke to profit of it, and if Kousuke wants, he is willing to do even more. Anyway the story is a little less gory than the movie, and there are even more characters involved, making it quite more complex. I think that, for once, I prefer the anime to the movie.
