Plus & Minus (2022)

 Plus & Minus was quite nice, I enjoyed both couples, the main one Zheng Ze Shou and Fu Li Gong, and the side one, Kato Yuki and Jian Ying Ze. I actually like also the soon-to-be divorced Xiao Dong and A Han, I would not mind a series about the two of them. Anyway, going back to Zheng Ze Shou and Fu Li Gong, it's pretty much classic thrope, fellow high schoolers, one of them develops feelings for the other but has no courage to confess, they share an apartment as adults, and the one having the secret crush behaves like a mother hen to the unresponsible and womanizer friend, up until the time they realize that all the time spent together made them the perfect couple. Of course there will be confrontation with the parents, wanting for their sons a different path, support from friends, a little bit of denyal, and some hot sex to solve everything. So yes, if you want to spend some hours with a pleasant "visual" distraction (meaning Zheng Ze Shou and Fu Li Gong), give it a try, you will not be disappointed. HEA. The Promise (2023)

 I think that, for once, I would have preferred more The Promise, without seeing the prequel, Phupha | Nanfah. Let me explain, I liked to see the prequel, because, without question, Phupha and Nanfah are cute in their school years, and you can better understand how deep is their bond, but there are some inconsistences generated but the prequel, the main one being Nanfah searching for Phupha in Sydney, with photo and name, meeting Phupha's mother and brother, and no one of them recognizes Phupha? How many thai boys named Phupha, with a deceased father and a mother who went to Sydney for work, are there, that a mother does not recognize her own son? Said that, if I reset this information, and just watch The Promise, it's cute and sweet, with some drama on it, and even the dreadful separation before the good time. There is also an unexpected drama at the end, soon solved, and therefore not necessary, but we are gifted with a very sexy scene in compensation, so I can forgive them. HEA. You can see it on WeTV. Papa & Daddy (2021)

 The theme of Papa & Daddy was interesting, especially since LGBT rights in Taiwan are the more progressive in Asia, and same-sex couples can marry. Therefore I was eager to see something different, the day to day life of a same-sex married couple, moreover someone told me this was quite a sexy couple... But in the end, the story seemed sort of flat, and sincerely, the stunt Damian put on Jie Li at the end of season 1... not sure I would be willing to forgive my partner. There is also another point I didn't understand, and like, Jie Li and Damian are talking at the supermarket and Jie Li clearly says he is not ready to have a kid; then fast forward some years, and they are raising a kid of about 5 years old, that means they didn't wait long to have him... talking about respecting your partner's desire. The Warp Effect (2022)

 The Warp Effect is not at all the stupid comedy series someone would expect. It addresses a lot of important themes, and there is a mix of hetero and LGBT couples all of them giving the right amount of time, and the right relevance and treatment. Of course Army and Joe stole the scene for me, and to my opinion, of all the sexy scenes in the series, and there are many, those between them were the most sexy but also sweet. I also liked they introduced a theme that is not often, actually never, discussed in a BL series, the sexual dynamics of the couple, who is top, who is bottom, and in this case, a gay man who doesn't like penetrative sex. Yes, you heard me right, they managed to deal with such a sensitive topic, without making fun of it and neither trying to find a "solution", this is not something you can solve, this is an important side of you partner, trying to solve it you basically are saying your partner is wrong in his sexuality. Anyway, I liked basically everything of this series, even the main, straight, male lead, and how he is living and thriving among his eterogenous group of friends. HEA. You can see it on Youtube. Never Let Me Go (2022)

 Never Let Me Go was way sweeter than expected. Maybe the reason is that the bodyguard-client relationship is played by high schooler, and in reality, Palm is just another kid, with not a real training to be a bodyguard, and Nuengdiao is yes a spoiled kid, but not one that his purposedly behaving badly. This could have been just another high school romance, and indeed that is the part I prefer. Moreover, if you liked "Perth" Tanapon Sukumpantasan in Love by Chance as Pete, here he has another nice role as Chopper, and I will spoil you saying he has his own romance, sometine stealing the scene to Nuengdiao and Palm. My Ride (2022)

 My Ride is basically a sweet romance, the thrope here is the class difference between Tawan, a doctor, and Mork, a motorcycle taxi driver. Plus there are the additional thrope of Tawan being already involved with another man, Por, a fellow doctor, and Mork being recently dumped by his girlfriend, so supposedly not gay, at minimum bisexual. But Mork does not give me the impression he has been interested in a man before, so Tawan is his first same-sex relationship. The story is well developed, maybe dragging a little too much the triangle between Mork-Tawan-Por, but indeed that is the main point of the series. HEA. You can see it on GagaOOLala. I Only Want to Keep Looking at You (2022)

 I Only Want to Keep Looking at You is a very intimate story, yes, it's a BL series, but it's not like many I have seen, it's more allegoric and slow, mostly played in one spot, the spot where Sakura confesses his feelings to Yuma and kisses him. And after this sudden event, there is not drama, or sudden reaction, but again a series of vignettes of Sakura and Yuma. So, sincerely, I'm not sure I completely understood these two boys, maybe I'm too far from their culture. But let me say, there is no drama, and apparently it's an HEA, that is a plus for me. Heat Level: 2/6.

How About Some Coffee? (2021)

 How About Some Coffee? is not tagged as a gay romance, and indeed there is not a love story linked to Hajime Aoyama... there are three! Once you arrive at the end you will learn that Hajime Aoyama is the love interest of Shima Kakine (but apparently she likes more the coffee than the coffeemaker), "Pei" (Sugi Sanpei) and my favorite, the cute baby boss "Bocchan" (Doro Ryu Kai), a third generation leader. I have to say that, up until the baby boss enters the story, I wasn't sold on this being a gay romance, and for most of episode 7 I was trying to understand if Bocchan wanted to kill Aoyama, or if he was in love with him. But the last episode, Bocchan, presented with the opportunity to see Aoyama, says he will not since he has to become a fierce boss, only then he will be ready to propose Aoyama! If this is not a love declaration, I'm not sure what else is. HEA. Heat Level: 1/6.

The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window (2021)

 The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window is not a gay movie, if you want to stretch it, it's a bromance. And it has a lot of blood and gory details I didn't need to see. And so, why I saw it, and liked it? well, let me start with the obvious fact: have you seen the two male leads? And that poster? after seeing that, do you really want me to believe there is nothing sexy happening between Hiyakawa Rihito and Mikado Kosuke? let me point to the evidences... first Mikado wants to mark Rihito to avoid other people going into him (this is the second pont, I will arrive to it), and where does he choose to put the tattoo? on the top of his backside! And no, there is no dirty jokes between them for the choosen place, but still, it's saying a lot. Second, Mikado is always saying Rihito to not let people inside him, that when Mikado is inside Rihito everything is clearer, good and perfect... Ok, this could be a translation issue, but I don't think it's far from what is the original meaning of this. So again, an innuendo? Anyway, the relationship between Mikado and Rihito is so intensive and close, that, even if there is nothing sexual happening between them, it's anyway charged with sexuality. Give it a try if you don't mind the gory details. Heat Level: 1/6.

Twins (2023)

 Twins was nice, but to me nothing to talk home about. The sport theme was well played, and for a lover of this thrope, it could be a bonus. Plus there are cute couples, at least three I liked, and all of them have their sweet, or sometime sexy, moments together, so these is another bonus. But the story of the twins changing place has been played in a better way (Not Me) and there was nothing added here to make the plot interesting. So it was a good one, but nothing exceptional. HEA.
