Fever (Flash Fiction)
The early morning sun pours in through the window like a languid river of champagne. The bubbles of light floating aimlessly seem to be trying to make up for the damnedest night.
I lay in a muddled heap of sodden bedsheets and bed clothes. I am exhausted, even more so after glancing at the clock. I had slept 10 hours, waking only once to drunkenly find my way to the bathroom and send an email to my two best friends. And pee of course.

L&P #17 - Are You an Octopus
Immersion
leaves me tired
and anxious.
I jump into the deep end;
I drown.
But watching you
breathing
swimming
living,
suffuse in blues and greens and bruised purples
– the colors of naval dreams
brushed in tender touches
of a far distant light;
underneath the weight
Under Pressure,
Yet so much more than,
you thrive
under a shimmering awareness.
It seems to me
as something only
an octopus can do.

L&P #16 - You
I’m winding my way
to you
Through the fog of memory
I’m searching
for you
In the perpetuity of now
- no then
- no now
- no distinction.
There is only the current
that runs
through my length
through my breadth
All of my life
All of my breath
You elicit my beginning
And temper the fear of my
end

“I don’t want to.”
“What was that?”
“I said,” she shouted into the nothingness of the sky blue, “I don’t want to.”
She flung her right arm to the side. It bounced on the grass once before...

The Rise of the Small Publisher
The Guardian’s recent articleAre Small Independent Publishers Doing the Work for Big Publishers?
Mainstream publishing has become risk-averse and sold on the idea that committees of sales and marketing gurus, the most powerful people in publishing these days, know what will sell. Do they really?
Why are independent publishers managing to get more of their authors’ work on to prize shortlists and win more awards than the bigger firms?
While I was finishing Charlotte Gnoll, I figured–what the h...
