Immersion
leaves me tired
and anxious.
I jump into the deep end;
I drown.

But watching you
breathing
swimming
living,
suffuse in blues and greens and bruised purples
– the colors of naval dreams
brushed in tender touches
of a far distant light;
underneath the weight
Under Pressure,

Yet so much more than,
you thrive
under a shimmering awareness.
It seems to me
as something only
an octopus can do.
