Holiday Book Giveaway - Shiny Things!

Shiny+Things.jpg

As we get ready for the holiday and look back over the last year, I have to say this year has been a fun one for me, life wise. Not so bad writing wise, either. I've read some fantastic books, and I wrote a first draft for a story back in February that I am only just editing now (I know! I'm ashamed of myself too!) I have another story in the works, and I released Body of Work (Cold Fingers 2) a follow-up to my paranormal romance from last year, and Dalton Sikes Finds a Body (Grant Cooper Book 2) the second chapter in a serialized M/M story about Grant Cooper, who looks to be turning out to be the sexiest man alive! :D

The one dark cloud over the year was that my Nook gave up the ghost and I have been debating for months on what to replace it with. Recommendations are welcome! LOL

Now, way back when I was young, okay, maybe not young but certainly newer to writing, I was given a chance to add a story to a holiday anthology benefiting The Trevor Project.

It was the second story I ever wrote, and without it, I would likely have never written anything besides Watching Elijah Fall which I had written earlier that year.

I had craved writing, but once I had put Watching Elijah Fall behind me, I was sort of in the well, that's done mindset.

Shiny Things is a little known, and little read, holiday story about two men rekindling a romance after years apart. It's about the magic of the holiday, the magic of art and how sometimes our first love is the one we're supposed to be with after all.

As a thank you to all my readers, new and old, and to all the wonderful people I have met online,  Shiny Things is available through InstaFreebies now through January 7th.

Click HERE to grab your free copy!

Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season and a new year full of family and friends, and good things to read!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Hump Day with Amy Spector | Lunchtime Nibbles by Claire Davis & Al Stewart

I am always on a quest for a work week distraction. Thus Hump Day was born. What better way to make it through the week than with something fun and steamy to read. Almost as if someone read my mind, Lunchtime Nibbles (Book One) by Claire Davis and Al Stewart came into my life!

The first book in this new series is a collection of two stories, each the perfect length for passing a lunch hour or two.

First, we have Cheese and Pickle. Harvey's job isn't exactly what he hoped it would be when he graduated with a plan to change the world for the better. He only makes it through the week of supervising a lot of people that don't really care about their jobs by focusing on his weekly parking lot tryst with office hottie, Greg.  But Harvey wants something more, and Greg doesn't seem to be getting the message.

I love Harvey! Adored him, and his kick-ass sister who knows her brother deserves more than a lunchtime quickie!

Claire Davis and Al Stewart have this wonderful ability to create characters that are sympathetic and relatable even as they find themselves in sometimes outlandish situations.

Cheese and Pickle is lovely, heartwarming and hot, hot, hot.

The Detonator (Tork and Adam 2.5), the second story in this collection, while a great standalone, it is also a Tork and Adam short. A seeming Christmas gift to all the Tork and Adams fans, of which there are many!

Adam's on a mission to make the first of Tork's birthdays they are spending together amazing. But what do you get someone as perfect as Tork? Even a self-proclaimed sex-god can't have all the answers!

It was wonderful to see more of Adam's vulnerable side and, as always, Tork understands his boyfriend completely, even recognzing the bits Adam may not want people to see.

The Detonator is perfectly sweet, funny and Adam is absolutely charming. And, as expected, together, Tork and Adam are explosive!

If you are in the mood for something both hot and heartwarming, Lunchtime Nibbles is a winner! The chemistry, as with all Davis/Stewart stories, is top-shelf, and the steam? Purrrfect!

Lunchtime Nibbles is released on December 1st but is already up for pre-order on  Amazon, Barnes and Noble, ARe, iTunes, Kobo or directly from the publisher HERE!You can visit Claire Davis and Al Stewart's website HERE . You can also follow them on  Facebook!

Cheese and Pickle

Harvey and Greg work in the same office. Of course Harvey noticed Greg - who wouldn't notice the beardie hottie with muscles aplenty to silence even the noisiest team meeting? Then a home visit turns into a car-rocking tryst of spectacular proportions, and suddenly Tuesday lunchtimes become the highlight of Harvey's week.

But will a quickie with the recalcitrant Greg be enough, or will something more meaningful develop?

The Detonator

Featuring Tork and Adam from The Tork and Adam series

Adam is a sex god. At least, that's what he tells himself.

Tork is a green-haired mind-reader.

They haven't been together for long, but when Adam realises Tork's birthday is coming up, he knows he has to make this the best birthday ever. But what to buy someone like Tork? And how much to spend?

Every time Tork calls, Adam's knees turn to jelly, and he's not so much a sex god as a whimpering idiot.

Can Adam take control and make the birthday dinner perfect?

What happens when the kitchen sparks end up in the bedroom with Tork and Adam naked?

Cameo appearance by Dickens the cat.

Hump Day with Amy Spector | The Maddest of Men by Ofelia Gränd

Because I have so little time to read these days, I love when I get my hands some something completely different, and preferably kick-ass-awesome! The Maddest of Men is just that.

While most of you probably know Ofelia Gränd from her lumberjack trope series, Nortown, in her newest story, we leave the woods of Sweden far behind for the concrete streets of a post-apocalyptic city.

The redheaded, Grayham may look angelic, but in reality, he is the inquisitor and executioner for Cham, a crime boss that deals in everything from drugs to prostitution. You don't want to cross Cham, because if you do, you have to face Grayham. And he isn't your everyday, run of the mill, thug. Grayham has supernatural powers that make him very, very good at his job.

Creed is a government retrieval agent on a suicide mission. More of a pencil pusher than spy, when Creed is sent in undercover to confirm the rumors that Cham has a person with special powers on his payroll, he is in way over his head.

I don't want to give too much away, but this was a story I couldn't put down. It's dark and gritty, even violent, but at the same time, it is as much of a romance as any of those other things. In fact, I do believe this is my favorite out of all the Ofelia Gränd romances. And that says a lot since I was pretty crazy about Once in May.

If you're in the mood for something a little different, definitely hot, with men that aren't exactly good guys, this might just be the book for you!

You can pick up The Maddest of Men on Amazon HERE! Or read it on Kindle Unlimited!

You can visit Ofelia Gränd's website HERE. Sign up for her email list and you'll recieve a free download of her short story,  A Public Love Story. You can also follow Ofelia on Twitter and Facebook!

BLURB

To prove his loyalty to Cham, Grayham is willing to do anything, and he does. He helps Cham run his empire by finding out the truth by any possible means. It's not as hard as it may seem, all he has to do is ask the right questions, and his internal polygraph will tell him if someone is lying or not. And when they lie—well he deals with that too. Life as an executioner can get quite lonely, not that Grayham plans on doing anything about it. It would kill him to have to off a lover.

Creed is a retrieving agent on a mission. He is to infiltrate one of Carona's drug organisations to get to the inquisitor. Rumour states the man with the fiery red curls has supernatural powers; it also says anyone coming close to him disappears. Creed has no idea how he's going to make it out alive or why his supervisor sent him in without backup. But, when an opening to work as a waiter at one of the drug lord's parties presents itself Creed sets to work.

In a world where people compensate for the years of bombings and starvation with clinic bought physical perfection a man with crooked teeth and mismatching eyes stands out. Grayham notices the waiter watching him straight away. If he's there to harm Cham, he'll deal with it. Creed knows he must get his hands on the inquisitor so when he is invited to the man's flat he agrees to come even though he knows it might be the last thing he'll ever do.

Note: This story contains graphic violence, on page death of secondary character, and sex acts between male adults.

HAVE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING!

Halloween Happening!

Halloween is just days away and I can't wait! I always start the countdown about halfway through summer when the heat reminds me of why I hate summer so damn much. For me, trick-or-treat is Monday. This may sound obvious, but in the city where I live, they sometimes don't trick-or-treat on Halloween! Something about traffic and safety, or something? I'm normally too busy crying at such a horrible idea to hear the rest of the conversation. :D

In what may just be becoming a yearly October tradition, Ofelia Gränd and I have a number of books hitting the virtual shelves tomorrow! So this is your chance to receive an ARC* (advance reading copy) of your very own!

If you decide to grab one up, an online review is always appreciated! Just remember to state that you read an ARC copy so Amazon doesn't have a hissy-fit. They become quite strict on we authors and our freebies, so ARC copies are free copies they allow readers to review on their site. And, even more awesome, if you love a story, tell your friends! Tell your mom! Tell that cute waiter! :D

Either way, reviews and recommendations or not, Ofelia and I hope you'll grab one of these ARCs for a fun (and sometimes scary) Halloween read!

Buried Desires 2 (including Deadly Lies (Deadly Sugar #2) and Body of Work (Cold Fingers #2)Body of Work (Cold Fingers #2) Deadly Lies (Deadly Sugar #2)The Deadly Sugar Collection (all of the Deadly Sugar stories)

Each of these books also come with some freebie downloads! Buried Desires 2  and Deadly Lies includes a download of Deadly Dates, and if you read Deadly Sugar, you want to grab that one up. Just click on the link at the back of the book and you get a chance to sign up for Ofelia's mailing list (if you want) and download the story.

Buried Desires 2, along with Body of Work (Cold Fingers #2), also includes a link to Dalton Sikes Finds a Body, the second chapter installment of my Grant Cooper MM serialized story, in which Grant Cooper finds a body, breaks a heart and gets the boy! :D

So, let me know if there is something that catches your eye by clicking HERE!

*ARC copies are only available for a limited time.

Lee Hellstrom is hitting the big screen after more than three decades and, with the much younger Grant Cooper at his side on the red carpet, he plans to make a lasting impression. The only problem is that not all the attention Lee has drawn is good.

The Deadly Sugar Collection includes Deadly Sugar, Deadly Secrets, Deadly Lies and a special link to Deadly Dates - a hidden chapter.

All Jett ever wanted was a big house where he and his partner could raise a family together. The only problem is his boyfriend doesn't want to take the step. Jett refuses to wait any longer. If Josh doesn't want to come with him, he'll move on his own and begin to build the life he wants. And who knows maybe the cute neighbour would be willing to fill Josh's shoes.

David doesn't want any neighbours. He has all the company he needs locked away in his root cellar and a neighbour snooping around could easily ruin his perfect life. It doesn't help that the neighbour is a pastry chef - a spreader of evil, an abomination the world needs to be saved from.

Maybe David can fit Jett into his busy schedule. Maybe he can keep him around for a little while. David decides to give Jett a chance, he does, after all, have a great bone structure that would turn him into a fine piece of art once David helps him lose all that unnecessary weight. But as David starts to put his plan into motion, Jett's ex reappears. With Josh coming back Jett has a chance to get everything he wants if only he can get rid of the neighbour...

Murder by Poison - How I've missed you!

With Body of Work - Cold Fingers Book 2 in the hands of my lovely editor, Debbie McGowan—she's cursing my commas already, I'm sure—I once again get to combined two of my favorite things; murder and love!

With Dalton Sikes Finds a Body we pick up from where Mrs. Greenberg Sells a Watch left off. This time around our serial poisoner and would-be cougar, Alicia Greenberg is unexpectedly called away and Grant Cooper has the house to himself. Which means he's in charge, right? Grant's pretty sure that means he's in charge.

Cue hot guy from the flower shop!

♥♥♥

Blurb (Still a work in progress so I'll deny it in court if need be!)

Grant Cooper has it made, a sweet job at Things in the Attic, cheap digs and a line of willing partners. But that could all fall apart when he finds a corpse in the basement of the house where he rents a room.

Dalton Sikes has problems of his own. He just wants to deliver the flower arrangement that has been sitting in his shop for nearly a week, before it costs him a hundred and eighty dollars he can’t afford to lose, not if he wants to keep the lights on. What he doesn’t need is a stunningly beautiful man with a dead body in his basement. Well, maybe the man part, but definitely not the dead body. Especially if it looks like Dalton could be next on the killers list.

♥♥♥

The Grant Cooper stories (or the Cold Fingers in-betweeners) are a parallel series featuring characters from Cold Fingers and are currently only available as FREE downloadable installments with the Cold Fingers and Buried Desires books. Check them out by clicking HERE.

Mrs. Greenberg Sells a Watch (Cold Fingers 1.5 / Grant Cooper 1) is a FREE short story download available with Buried Desires and Cold Fingers (Book 1)

Dalton Sikes Finds a Body (Cold Fingers 2.5/Grant Cooper 2) is coming soon and will be a FREE short story download available with Buried Desires 2 and Body of Work (Cold Fingers Book 2)

What time is it? Time to admit defeat.

I never really envisioned writing more about Christopher and Vic. In fact, I saw Cold Fingers as a gothic romance stand alone. Yes, there was the Mrs. Greenberg serialized spin-off, but that was the first installment of Grant's story, and Grant really needed a story. I adore Grant. He's that guy in every horror film that knows things, things that people aren't supposed to know, and he just takes it in stride.

Still, even after I finished the book and swore off writing forever—that's what I do—the characters of Christopher and Vic just stuck with me. Fast-forward nearly a year to the day that I first dreamt up Cold Fingers and I had to admit defeat. I was putting everything else on hold. There would be another book. And I couldn't be happier.

This time around, Vic's godfather Lee is back on the big screen after more than thirty years. With a cameo in a remake of one of his most beloved horror films, he's back in the limelight. But not all attention is good, and it will be up to Christopher, Vic and Grant to save the day.

Of course, there will again be another free hidden chapter short story, the second installment of Grant's tale.

Once again I will also be sharing a horror double feature with the Empress of Darkness, Ofelia Gränd! If you're not already familiar with Ofelia, make sure to take a moment to swing by her website HERE. Sign up for her newsletter and you'll receive a free short story that will illustrate exactly why I call her the Empress of Darkness. I assure you, it's well deserved.

LOOK FOR THEM THIS OCTOBER!

Now, with my duty done, I'm going back to reading Amy Rae Durreson's Spindrift. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some real ghostie action! :D

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

Letter from camp NaNo. I want to go home!

July 2016 NaNo is here! It's a chance to grab a virtual tent with friends (or strangers) and try to make one more of those writing projects a reality!

This will be my first NaNo. Okay, that is not completely true. I had planned to do the November NaNo last year without joining the official site. I wrote 500 words the first day and never wrote another word. Sad, but true!

This year I've claimed a tent with a few of my favorite people in the world. Some of them you know, and some you don't know YET! I will be keeping company with the sexy, talented and tall triple threat that is  Al Stewart, the Empress of Darkness, Ofelia Gränd, the reigning cover King, Noah Holmes, the editing/writer badass that is Debbie Mcgowan and the talented (and always intimidating), K.C. Falean, just to name a few!

In the next few weeks, I will be writing the sequel to my little known Cold Fingers, an MM paranormal romance, with my idea of a gothic twist. In Body of Work (Cold Fingers Two) we pick up with Christopher, Vic and the gang as they scramble to save Lee after he finds himself in hot water with a society of less than pleased Vampires.

Haven't read Cold Fingers (Book One)?
Grab it at the Smashwords Summer Sale HERE
Just enter coupon code SSW50 and receive 50% OFF any of my titles priced above 99¢!

It also comes with a free download of "a hidden chapter" short story, Mrs. Greenberg Sells a Watch. Don't let the name fool you, this story is the first installment of a serialized MM romance about the sexy, idiot-savant Grant Cooper from Cold Fingers.

A story in which Grant finds a body,  breaks a heart and gets the boy.

Hope you all have a great July, and if you will be camping at NaNoWriMo, good luck, and bring bug spray! :D

Smoking in the morning

And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it. - Roald Dahl

I read somewhere, or heard somewhere else, that the best way to begin writing every day is to take ten or fifteen minutes to warm-up.

The idea is to find a fresh photograph that inspires a snippet of a story, a poem, a grocery list, whatever and just write. Use those few stolen moments of writing for yourself to loosen you up before writing something with the pressure of planned publication at its back.

So for the last few weeks I have been doing just that. Almost. But I couldn't pull myself away from the photograph I had stumbled upon and just kept coming back. Every morning. I used my warm up time to write a little more and on a story I didn't realize was coming.

Thus, SMOKE was born, an MM short of smoke and magic and, because it is me and I just can't help myself, the purest kind of love.

I have yet to break it to any betas, and only just mentioned it to my tiny writing circle Al Stewart and Ofelia Gränd but my hope is for a Summer release and, without a doubt, it will be a freebie to my mailing list subscribers. I'll let you know more as soon as I do.

HAVE A MAGICAL WEEKEND EVERYONE!

Reflecting (and Deflecting) on 2015

I have a love-hate relationship with New Years. That change from one year to the next represents so much, yet nothing at all. Not really. We make big plans on day one and three-hundred and sixty-five days later we lament what a complete failure we were.

It's a dreadful time of year. New Years should be banned. I want to live in one long, continuous year, and for every single day to be a fresh start, an "I'm going to do it right today!" moment.

Yet, here it is again. So, instead of focusing on my numerous failings, I decided to focus on the positives. And there really are a lot of positives. Firstly, I am gorgeous! LOL

On January 1st of 2014, I woke up and said "I'm going to be a writer!". Yes, I'm laughing at 2014 me too. I spent the next four months writing my heart out. I wrote and I wrote, and I wrote and I wrote.

I didn't finish a damn thing.

So, that May, when I discovered the Goodreads MM Romance group's yearly anthology, I grabbed me a prompt for the 2014 Loves Landscape. I figured if anything could make me finish a story, a deadline would.

I nearly dropped out. I nearly threw my story back so many times I lost count, but I didn't. I finished because, well because that is what you do. It was a commitment I made and I didn't want to let the prompt writer down. I didn't want to let the MM group down. And most of all, I didn't want to let myself down.

While I didn't win anything, it was nominated for the Goodreads MM Romance Member's Choice Award for Best Loves Landscape Story and Best Hurt/Comfort.

Now, a year and a half later, Watching Elijah Fall has been on the Amazon's top 20 list for short stories and for LGBT fiction just a few weeks shy of a whole year. That's not half bad. If it is still in the top 20 on January 23 (making it officially a full year) I will celebrate by ... um ... I'm not sure. Getting eight hours sleep or something! :D

As for true 2015 accomplishments, I've never been quite as proud of anything I have written as I am Cold Fingers - a love Story. Part of Buried Desires - a horror double feature with Deadly Sugar. Cold Fingers is a gothic romance in the vein of all those women running from houses gothic romance novels of the 60's and 70's, but hopefully unique to itself.

Buried Desires has been nominated for the Goodreads MM Romance Member's Choice Award for Best Dark Theme, and Cold Fingers has been nominated for for Best Paranormal romance! I about wept!

Working with the very talented Ofelia Gränd on Buried Desires, "seeing" the lovely Al Stewart every day and having the wonderful Debbie McGowan and my Jellies at my back, has made me want to do so much more for 2016.

I am currently working on Cold Fingers 2! It is a direct follow-up to Mrs. Greenberg Sells a Watch (Cold Fingers 1.5) in which my lovely Grant is about to get himself into more trouble than he can handle.

I also have two other stories in the works, but since I am one of those people that need to focus on one story at a time, I will remain silent about them, though there is one I am dying to talk about.

My biggest plan this year, and probably the one I will find the most difficult, is to amp up my blogging, my free reads, giveaways and contests, and all the stuff that is fun but a hell of a lot of work. LOL

2016 is going to be great if 2015 is anything to go by!

HOPE YOUR 2016 IS THE BEST YEAR YET!

The Time Traveler's Nightstand - Masque of Satan

Masque of Satan by Virginia Coffmans  by Lancer Books 1971

Back Cover Blurb

Mission to Fear ...

It was Jean Benedict's missionary zeal that had brought her to the Cove - that, and a message from a friend
who had cried out to her in torment.

But what was Lucky Schallert's plight? Here, at the coastal resort, a cure was offered for lost romances and early sorrows, a renewed chance to live as freely, as vibrantly, as one wished - a chance, even, to call on occult powers
which offered excitement and balm for
the soul ... but at a terrible price.

Jean Benedict wanted only to help her friend. But when she met the mysterious and fascinating Marc Meridon, she knew her fight was not for her friend's soul - but for her own ....

MASQUE OF SATAN

You had me at mysterious and fascinating! Marc Meridon sounds like a hell of a man!
