If you purchased these books through a site that doesn’t let you download the files, screen capture your proof of purchase, so that once these books are republished, I can get you the book file.

The four individual titles and the boxset will be republished. I don’t have an exact time frame, as so much work is involved. But it is my hope that over the next several months, they will once again be available. Hopefully, with some shiny new covers!

I will keep you updated! And if you are an author, and have been through this before, I would love any advice you have to give!

Witches, Romance, the Last Two Years and a Call for Beta Readers

It’s been nearly two years since I’ve written a blog post. Outside of my small writers group, I’ve barely been on social media at all! Instead, I spent much of the last two years watching the news in horror, going to my day job, and working a second job caring for a 95-year-old dementia patient in a reputedly haunted house.

Was the house haunted? Well, some nights it certainly felt like it.

Did I take notes for a future story? You know I did!

But in September, when my kids went from virtual learning to a blend of online and in-person classes, I left my second job. I couldn’t put this person at risk.

It’s amazing what you can do in three months when you suddenly find yourself with hours of free time every week! Since that time I’ve adopted two more kittens, had carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand, given my website a facelift, written two stories, and started a third.

I signed a contract on the first of the two stories just a few days ago. Big Flames and Small goes back to my contemporary romance writing roots. Yes, romance-romance! It was super fun to write and is slated to be released April 10, 2021 through JMS Books. When we get closer to that date, I plan to have some fun with a cover reveal, games and giveaways. So, make sure to keep an eye out for future emails, on my website, Facebook, Twitter, or, at least it’s my plan, Instagram. Yeah, I’m finally hoping to do something more than just following people on Instagram. But why is that so intimidating?! LOL

I have also finished the final read through of my second story, and will be sending it out to my beta readers mid-week and releasing the book to the world in March of this year! (Interested in volunteering to beta this story? Check out the Call For Beta Readers below.)

Every 17 years, the House of Witches throws a party like no other. It’s invitation only, and for centuries it has helped ensure peace between the covens. It’s the last place Caspian wants to be, but with the death of Queen Avel, and his own imminent rise to the thrown, it’s more important than ever. The stability of the House depends on it.

In 4 days a new king will be crowned but when Charlie unintentionally crashes a gathering of the most secretive of all the Great Houses, he sets into motion a series of events that could disrupt the transition of power, and threaten the future of the House of Witches forever.

While Club 669 is planned as a House of Witches Book 1—I’ve only just started working on book 2—it is also part of Tattooed Corpse stories, a project I have worked on with author Ofelia Gränd in which each individual, stand-alone story features the same dead body. (Think of the body like Keanu Reeves. He’s in a lot of movies, but he doesn’t always play the same character. And he’s also hot. LOL)

Again, in March, when we are closer to Club 669’s release, we’ll have fun with a cover reveal, games and giveaways! I’m so excited!

Box Sets, Novels and Your Favorite Narrators

Drinking and blogging doesn’t go well together. I actually started writing this post on New Years Eve but, trying to post it after a party—and a little too much vodka—I deleted the whole damn thing! It’s taken me a whole month to work up to trying again!

An early February post is probably better than a New Years Day post anyway. I’ve already thrown out my over zealous resolutions and have had a few weeks to really reflect on what I want for 2019 and beyond. I’ve always found reflection better than resolutions.

When I first started in 2014, I had three goals for my writing. Finish a story—one with an ending and everything!—publish with Dreamspinner Press and to have a eBook that could be found in the library. As of last year, I reached all those goals.

Which meant… starting again. I had to decide what I wanted to focus on for the next leg of my writing journey.

The new set of goals I have today is far less demanding than that one I wrote at the beginning of January. But that makes it better because this one is real and not just a dream that I am a different person—and a different writer—than I am. My new writing goals include a box set, an audiobook, writing my first novel length—an additional story in the world of That Rat, Carter Janson, and a second novel. After four years of novelles that have grown longer and longer, I’m finally ready to face the the big 50k+.

As of January 28th, my first goal is complete! :D

I’ve always been a huge fan of paranormal romance, so it makes me even more excited to finally have all three books in my Cold Fingers paranormal romance series now available in a box set, both in eBook and print.

As for an audiobook, I’ve already spent hours listening through narrator samples hunting for the voice!

I’m a huge fan of audiobooks being that my job has—on and off for years—kept me on the road for sometimes six hours a day. I own a embarrassing number of them—so many that some I haven’t even gotten around to listened to—and have fallen in love with so many narrators, I’ve lost count. That makes picking a book narrator an almost impossible task! Because sometimes a voice is already someone else to me.

I’m curious how many of you are also audiobook fans, and if you have favorite narrators that will also always be a certain character to you?

For me, Sean Crisden will always be Mary Calmes' Jin Rayne because Change of Heart was the first MM audiobook I ever listened to, and Gomez Pugh will always be Jordan Castillo Price’s Victor Bane. After discovering the Psycop series in 2016—I was crazy late to the party—I not only bought up the eBooks, I also bought up the audiobooks because damn it, I wasn’t going to let having to travel for work stop me from reading that series! LOL

If you’re a fan of audiobooks but have never heard Pugh as Victor Bane, check them out! And being the Audible devotee that I am, here’s a link if you’re think you might want to try them out. They normally have free audiobook specials for new and longtime-gone, returning members.

Now, I almost never read or listen to a book while I am writing, with the exception of things completely out of genre I’m writing in. Since I’m knee deep in writing a mystery/romance, I’ve actually indulged in something a little different the last couple of weeks.

Jason Black is a new author to me, but this is a very well written, folktale kind of story about, well …the Fairy Pond. Love it!

It’s Christmas Eve. And like nearly every year, I’m at my in-laws house, the kids are asleep and I am hiding in the guest room with my laptop.

That sounds worse than it is. I love my in-laws, I’m just completely wiped from the last few weeks and my social threshold isn’t very high even when I’m at my best.
