Take A Chance

IMG_0336.JPG

I am a strong independent woman who gives to others because it makes me feel good. I love sharing promotional material for other authors because I feel it’s the right thing to do. Through social media I have met so many amazing people from all over the world. I offer assistance and advice if I can to many, because it makes me feel good.

Having said all that I’m far from perfect, I am human. There is always something new to learn, and I love new challenges. These new learning experiences bring a wider knowledge base, and that makes me smile.

I recently posted on my social media accounts that I had accepted two positions. A few have private messaged me wondering if I have decided to quit writing! The answer is simple…..NOPE! Lol.

The position at Hillside Mall’s Michael Hill jewellers begins in February and it will be about twenty hours a week. I am so excited to try retail sales it is something I have never done! It will be good for me to get out of the house too! Those that follow my blog know that it is just my hubby and I here, so I’m alone a lot when he’s at work.

The position at Aact Financial will be for March and April only. It also will be about twenty hours a week doing tax returns. I have been doing accounting work for about twenty years, so this job will have less challenges.

In both cases I’m excited to meet more people from Victoria! If you are from here and happen to see me at either place please stop and introduce yourself.

The urge to write hit me only a year or so ago. It is at times overwhelming. I want to give hope and inspire, that is my goal. My blog has been very well received and has about twelve hundred subscribers! My first two novels were well received by those who took a chance on a new author. Readers loved both Angie and Lily, the main characters, and identified with the situations they found themselves. Both novels have earned the Gold Seal of Literary Excellence and I couldn’t be more proud of my accomplishment.

Currently I am busy promoting Cherish the Past and Live for Today both were released summer of 2014. I am writing for Empowering Parents blog, as well as my own blog, and I have four other novels I hope to release in 2015.

I am including the amazon links for both my novels, with the hope this post will reach more prospective buyers. Take a chance on a new author and keep following for more exciting news.

My Divorce, My Children

New blog is live on Empowering Parents!

Divorce is something that happens between two adults, not unlike marriage. It is the formal dissolution of a relationship that, for whatever reason, did not work out. It is not, however, permission to talk negatively about your children’s other parent or their families, as the case may be.

Date Night

IMG_0280.JPG

Last night my hubby and I headed out to the movies for date night. Our selection for the evening was American Sniper. Let me just say wow.

IMG_0281.JPG

It has been a long time since I have been so caught up in a movie about war. Often I flinch or close my eyes to the gore, but not this time. This movie was so personalized to this soldier that I felt like I was included in the picture. It was simply amazing.

With love, loss, fear and family all intertwined I found it to be both gut wrenching and intriguing, all the same time. The scenes brought what the soldiers are going through to life for me. The hazards and daily choices and sacrifices they make to serve their country. I found the scenes showing Chris’ PTSD both intriguing and well portrayed.

I left the theatre after over two hours with a much better understanding of what went on overseas. I would highly recommend it!

About the movie….

‎2hr 14min‎‎ – Action/Adventure‎‎ – English‎

Director: Clint Eastwood – Cast: Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, Kyle Gallner, Luke Grimes, Jake McDorman, Keir O’Donnell, Max Charles, Owain Yeoman

U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle is sent to Iraq with only one mission: to protect his brothers-in-arms. His pinpoint accuracy and courageous exploits earn him the nickname “Legend.” However, his reputation is also growing behind enemy lines, putting a price on his head and making him a prime target of insurgents. He is also facing a different kind of battle on the home front: striving to be a good husband and father from halfway around the world. Despite the danger, as well as the toll on his family, Chris serves through four harrowing tours of duty in Iraq, personifying the spirit of the SEAL creed to “leave no one behind”. But upon returning to his family, Chris finds that it is the war he can’t leave behind.
