Date Night

Last night my hubby and I headed out to the movies for date night. Our selection for the evening was American Sniper. Let me just say wow.

It has been a long time since I have been so caught up in a movie about war. Often I flinch or close my eyes to the gore, but not this time. This movie was so personalized to this soldier that I felt like I was included in the picture. It was simply amazing.

With love, loss, fear and family all intertwined I found it to be both gut wrenching and intriguing, all the same time. The scenes brought what the soldiers are going through to life for me. The hazards and daily choices and sacrifices they make to serve their country. I found the scenes showing Chris’ PTSD both intriguing and well portrayed.

I left the theatre after over two hours with a much better understanding of what went on overseas. I would highly recommend it!

About the movie….

U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle is sent to Iraq with only one mission: to protect his brothers-in-arms. His pinpoint accuracy and courageous exploits earn him the nickname “Legend.” However, his reputation is also growing behind enemy lines, putting a price on his head and making him a prime target of insurgents. He is also facing a different kind of battle on the home front: striving to be a good husband and father from halfway around the world. Despite the danger, as well as the toll on his family, Chris serves through four harrowing tours of duty in Iraq, personifying the spirit of the SEAL creed to “leave no one behind”. But upon returning to his family, Chris finds that it is the war he can’t leave behind.
