Drowsy Maggie Variations
I've just published the first book in my series of repertoire pieces for Intermediate guitarists: "Drowsy Maggie Variations".
"I composed these variations on the traditional Irish Reel "Drowsy Maggie", which is featured in my Basic Repertoire series. Visit any Irish Pub around the world and you are likely to hear this tune during the evening. It is also a popular tune at Bush Dances.
This arrangement is suitable for:
Fingerstyle guitarists who would like to add a great solo piece to their repertoire
Guitarists who want to learn how to make the guitar "speak"
Guitarists who want to revitalise their playing
Guitarists who want to master the essential language of rock and pop music. (Notice that the basic riff and harmonies are similar to "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin.
Any musician who wondered how to use the Dorian mode, and make it sound good, and
Any musician who would like to gain more understanding of how to write and arrange for the guitar.

Still Life in Tone and Colour is now available in pdf format
Still Life in Tone and Colour is now available in pdf format at www.smashwords.com/books/view/447773.
Even though the ebook formats .mobi and .epub have many advantages (flowing formats, easy to read on any device), I realise there are people out there who are more comfortable with the old .pdf format.
Pdf has one other advantage, which at the moment gives it a decided edge for my 'graphic heavy' Art and Music publications - the ease of printing!
Oh, and did I mention that this book is free?
Peter Inglis – Creating Music and Art in Kununurra
From an article in the Kimberly Echo, May 2014.

Drowsy Maggie
I've just published the third book in my series of repertoire pieces for beginner guitarists: "Drowsy Maggie".
Who is this book for? Guitarists who play Blues, Country, Rock, Jazz, Classical or Steel String guitar. Anyone who wondered where the idea for "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin originated or who wondered how to use the Dorian mode, and actually make it sound good!
What will you get out of it? Firstly you will add a great piece to your repertoire, which can be played in practically any style you like. Secondly you will improve your melody playing, articulation and tone production, which translates to better lead guitar solos.

Silver Spear
I've just published the second in my series of repertoire pieces for beginner guitarists: "Silver Spear".
This book will show you how to add this famous Irish Reel to your guitar repertoire. Suitable for rock, jazz, country and classical players from beginner onwards..
I recommend you learn at least two other Irish Folk Tunes and play them as a medley. Look at my ebooks for a selection of these great tunes arranged for guitar. There are many great examples of the piece on YouTube.

Counterpoint in Irish Washerwoman
Irish Washerwoman is a great example of a melody which contains actually contains two melodies.
It does this via a musical device called "counterpoint", derived from the latin: contrapunctus, meaning "point of contrast", or "contrasting point".
So you can see two melodies, one with stems up, and the second with stems down.
One of the most famous examples of counterpoint is in the main theme to "On the Blue Danube" by Johann Strauss.
This is an excerpt from my book "Irish Washerwoman" v.1.5. Get it here at Smashwords.

Guitar Player mag bargain.
I found an awesome deal for guitar fans. Guitar Player magazine for $1.00 per issue in the Kindle edition. The featured artist this month is James Burton - the legendary country-rock player and Telecaster master.
I subscribed yesterday. The mag looks great and has been well formatted for e-reading, I read it on a tablet. You double-tap an article to get it to flow like a normal ebook. The pictures look great.

Be In Balance

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A great introduction to the Alexander Technique.
The what??? ... I hear you say.
Alexander Technique (AT) is the secret weapon of the world's best opera singers, ballet dancers, musicians, and quite a few sportsmen as well. So there's a really good chance you've already seen it in action.
It is a method which simply enables you to get the most out of your body, in any activity. I was fortunate enough to study it as a teenager, and it continues to be crucial to my work in musical and art.
The book is well illustrated and an easy read. Highly recommended as an introduction to this powerful mind/body method.
