MY STYLE: SEPTEMBER 2019

September’s been busy due to trying to finish off stories and release a book, the weather’s also been weird, warm then cool, blah, blah, blah. Here we go with September’s outfits.

OUTFIT#1 – SHOPPING, LIBRARY

TOP: this is one of this year’s kaftan tops from ebay for $27.20. While I was being served in my local supermarket, the two ladies behind me asked where I got it from. I said eBay. Later, when I was talking to the sales lady outside the chemist about make up, my sleeve was tugged at and the lady from the supermarket was tugging at my sleeve wanting to know which store on eBay. I said there was no store, I just typed it in the search bar. Oi! Nosy, much. Can be seen here.

I’m Off On My Last Writing Holiday For 2019!

 

I’m hoping to get a lot done. It’s October, and T.K. Wrathbone stories are coming out, so I’ll be getting the paperback version prepared.

 

 

I Spy With My Little Eye…

 

 

 

Can you guess what it is…?

 

Yep, this year I’ve had to get glasses for the first time. 

Two years ago I had my eyes tested, and while I had issues and was told I could benefit from glasses, I chose to not get them.

Why?

Because I didn’t want glasses at 43 and wanted to wait. Besides, my eyes weren’t that bad.

BUT!!!

Within six months other issues were popping up, and a year and a half later, I had to bite the bullet and get them.

Turns out, I had a stye on my left eye, and astigmatism in my right. Which means, my left eyeball is as close to perfect as could be and my right is a different shape altogether.

So, I now have bifocals. 

Yep, bifocals. Because my long distance is excellent, and my short distance is shit.

I went for the cheapest frames, because seriously, why waste money on plastic, and had anti-glare added to the blues. The pinks come with me in my handbag and the blues are for working on the pc, which, isn’t all that bad, but the doctor did say to use them when my eyes became tired, so I don’t have to wear them all the time.

Ugh, I feel so freakin old!

 

 

It’s Been Four Years Since Jackie Collins’ Death.

It’s been four years since Jackie died.

Four years since I became determined to publish the Porn Star Brothers story that was thumping around in my head because of her.

And because of her, I wouldn’t have the stories I have today. So my gratitude goes to you, Jackie, on this fourth anniversary. And, as always, my series is dedicated to you.

Staying strong is sometimes hard to do, despite being kicked in the ass.

 

I don’t collect a lot of Jackie books these days. I bought so many in 2016 that I had most of what I was after. And with the rising conversion rates, it’s harder to buy from overseas. But I was determined, and still am, to finish off the collection.

I know I’m after paperbacks from the UK and US, plus first editions of the early books, such as The World is Full of Married Men, The World is Full of Divorced Women, The Bitch, The Stud, etc. And I do have several more to update to better versions. The state of some dust jackets are horrendous.

One of this years finds, for a price of $65.86US, was the first edition of The Stud from The World Publishing Company that first released it in the U.S.

And I think, hopefully, this black cover version from the UK that I bought a couple of years ago is their first edition, so, that means I have both the UK and US hard covers of The Stud

 

I’ve also managed to update three books to their full 6.5×9.5 hardcovers. Vendetta, The Santangelos, and Confessions of a Wild Child. And found another Chances in better condition than the last one I bought. Thankfully, I received refunds on the first versions I bought as the state of the djs/sizes were wrongly described on the listings, so, money saved.

 

I also managed to score these UK hard cover editions of Married Men and Divorced Women.

 

I plan on buying as many as I can to fulfil the collection, but some seem to be few and far between. In fact, I don’t even know if some exist. It would be nice to have a picture database of UK and US covers so we cam see them and then try and find them.

Oh well, I’ll keep on dreaming!

 

Lilly Pulitzer, Yoobi and Typo Folios!

Carrying on from last week, we now have the name brand folios I’ve managed to buy this year. As I said last week, and every other time I post about these things, I’m addicted.

I love Lilly Pulitzer folios.

And I mean LOVE!!!!!!!

I love them so much, I have three, yes I said THREE Lilly’s Lagoon Folios and you can read about when I first got it here.

So then, my goal was to buy the others. Well, the update is, that I have managed to track down a Confetti, and an Ocean’s Jewels.

 

 

I’m not a fan of the Confetti colouring, but love Ocean’s Jewels as I love blue in general, and am looking for a second one. I also love the fact that these versions, along with Exotic Garden that I am yet to buy, as they are the older versions, have little gold pocket names on the inside. Three down, one to go.

 

I’ve also discovered Yoobi in the last year. While we can get some Yoobi goodies here in Aus, we don’t get the folios I want. Namely, this awesome palm leaf print pink one. Yes, it’s pale pink and plain on the inside, but the print is awesome. One down, one to go.

 

Typo have also sold folios and laptop bags/cases over the last couple of years. It’s funny, back in 2012 when I first found these style of folios, I barely managed to buy a medium and large one on eBay before they disappeared again, only to come back a few years ago with a vengeance. You can buy them anywhere, under any brand name, and any colour.

And recently on eBay, I found this blue Typo one for sale. With a pink fluffy interior, it has gold accents and space for a laptop, iPad etc, while still having the usual pockets they all seem to have. So common, these days. It also turned out a different blu in the pics when I photographed the back, lol.

 

My god, I can’t seem to stem my addiction.

 

 

Folios, Folios, Where For Art Thou, Folios…

We all know my love of a good folio, and I have many. Hell, I’ve even lost count, but when I was shopping on Aliexpress last year and bought the red, pink and blue folios, I ended up finding smaller passport size versions that matched perfectly.

Since then, I’ve bought myself another green one, this green is softer, and closer to the blue side of things. But, let’s get back to the post topic. The smaller passport size folios. Here they are…

 

In the exact same colours, which is awesome. And, like most passport folios, they have a back zip and interior pockets, just right for pens and notebooks, or stickers and paperclips.

 

And here are all four of my large/small folio sets. Love how they match.

One year on from my present to Ellen!

This time last year, I sent off my present to Ellen DeGeneres. On the 30th of August to be exact, hoping against hope that something would come of it.

One year on…well…nothing.

I’m the kind of person that will hope against hope that something will happen, or someone will make something happen, and then when it doesn’t, it’s like, oh well…wasn’t meant to be… But then I’ll question why I was told to do it in the first place if nothing was going to come from it.

My muse, guide, helper, God, the universe, whatever you want to call it, had been telling me to send it to her. I didn’t know why, guesstimated why, and then finally managed to get around to doing it.

It also brings me back to the old argument of how long are we meant to continue with something before realising that it’s just not going to happen.

So as disappointed as I am, it won’t stop me. I’ll continue writing and releasing because I want to. And who knows, maybe, somewhere down the track, the reason why my muse made me do it will reveal itself. But for now…I’m still hoping with fingers crossed. Which makes it really hard to type, by the way….

 

 

Nancy Drew: The 2019 Movie

Last year, word got out that Ellen DeGeneres’ company was making a new Nancy Drew movie.

Well, out she came this year, in limited release across American theatres.

The movie didn’t make it here to Aus, but since I have an all regional dvd player, I snagged myself a copy from Amazon, it came in a slip cover, and watched it.

 

Okaaayyyyyy….

For those who haven’t read, or don’t know much about Nancy Drew, then this could be a quirky little movie to watch and you’ll have no problem with it.

But!!!!!!

For those that do, we know that things have been changed.

Such as, George is a black girl and in no way, shape, or form related to Bess. George and Bess are cousins, always have been, always will be.

And Bess, by the way, is not brunette, she’s a curvy blonde.

Nancy giggled way too much. I don’t mind that she’s a redhead, Nancy was at different times throughout history, BUT!!!! She also didn’t skateboard.

NANCY DOES NOT SKATEBOARD!!!!

The fact that Nancy’s mother recently died and not when she was three…

Hannah is Nancy’s aunt (Carson’s sister). Nope. Hannah always was and always will be the housekeeper slash maid.

Nancy is still in high school. Nope. Regardless of the books, and Harriet Stratemeyer upping Nancy’s age from 16 to 18 in the books so she was legal to drive in all fifty states, very rarely did the syndicate put her back in school. Simon & Schuster tried it in some of the last series books, and basically, effed that up. 

The hidden staircase not really being a hidden staircase. Seriously, how was that layout of the house even plausible? How did you not even realise that there was a whole other room back there because there was a huge chunk of your house that you could not get to? And by the way, that tunnel was supposed to lead to the twin house of that one. Nope, just led to an old well outside.

UGH! SERIOUSLY!!!!

I get that Ellen and all the others invested in this wanted to do something nice. It just wasn’t factual in the sense of the books.

And how young do you get to be a deputy in America? That kid looked like he was fifteen and the uniform and gun belt were just too big for him.

They made a little joke about Helen Corning’s cousin getting married at Lilac Inn, leaving the movie open for a sequel, but I don’t know…it would need to be done better.

There’s a new CW show coming which has made George an Asian, and a comic series out which has made her a tattooed lesbian. She is neither, never has been, never will be.

I’m sick and tired of the basic story being constantly changed. I don’t know why networks, publishing houses, etc, just can’t take the basic story line, Bess and George being cousins, Hannah being the housekeeper, Ned Nickerson being white and not black……CW……and THEN make a better story.

GEORGE IS NOT BLACK, ASIAN OR A LESBIAN FFS!

STOP CHANGING THE HISTORY OF THE CHARACTERS……FOR THE LOVE OF GOD……..

After all that, it’s an addition to the collection, which I rarely buy for anymore as there is so little that comes out, or I just can’t afford the bloody shipping from America.

There is this awesome The Secret of the Old Clock  text scarf though….

 

Next stop, blankets and pillows, hopefully by the end of this year.
