I’m honored to be a part of this list. The Other Side of Eve cover was designed over many months, dozens of ideas and most becoming variations of the first. I returned to the original in the end. It was the one cover to rule all covers ^_^
The front cover had to explain the story within, the genre, to stand out in a crowd amongst many, and to me, be a work of beauty & design.
Colour was removed for it could add confused emotions, where my goal was to remove it…well any conceived emotion which is unnecessary. Black and white. It is what it is…or is it?
A vintage frame captures a silhouette of a girl with wild hair, at first, and at closer inspection also a parted straight blonde fringe.
Of course from the title you presume it is Eve. You presume right. Not everything is a mystery.
Then to the left an object? No a creature. A thorny, curved, many-legged individual like no other. (His name is Rel) He is the Fantasy element. And yes the vintage frame also connotates an old fairytale book.
But where is her face?
To give Eve a face would give too much away, the reader fills this in with his or her imagination. Plus the story is about the inside of Eve and not what is on the outside.
From inside her silhouetted pose, her hands are either in front or behind. This body language presents two meanings.
Hands behind she appears straight & strong or visualise her hands in front, she becomes nervous & afraid.
Sometimes to tell one story…two must be told.
Not everything is as it seems.
Inside this novel are two stories to be told, two characters inside and out, two worlds reality and fantasy. This side and the Other Side. The conscious and the unconscious.
And then there is the Back cover…to be continued. (I have to water my plants.)
Thanks for reading my friends.

Whats better than a new paperback arriving in the post?
A whole box of them!
Today I received the first case (carton of 12) of, The Other Side of Eve.
I’m very impressed with the printing by Ingram Spark. Crisp, clean and library quality.
At first I was worried as the outside box was badly beaten (as you can see by pictures below), but luckily the thick bubble wrap protected them.
These books are to be signed and sent to competition winners, buyers and family.
It’s a lovely sight of black and white.
