Spice, by Lilah Suzanne
I loved it! I don’t really have a lot to say that hasn’t been said by other people already. It was fun and funny, I’m totally in love with Benji, and the whole proposal thing was my favorite part.
Here’s a link to Amazon and to the Interlude Press store.
Thank you! You’re the first to say the proposal was your favorite part!

Downloaded Lilah Suzanne’s new novel on my Nook yesterday, halfway through it already and loving it. This morning, I passed by this storefront. I love little coincidences like that.
That’s so cool! Just never know what’s right around the corner, huh?

Funny Things Are Everywhereby Lilah Suzanne
Am I funny? Well, I was named funniest girl in my fourth grade end of year superlatives. If that’s not a ringing endorsement I don’t know what is.
I do think I am, and I also think the book is funny, but the risk with humor is often taking the chance of it not quite landing with everyone the way it’s intended to. Maybe that’s why there aren’t that…
Review: Spice by Lilah Suzanne

Back in February, Lilah Suzanne
approached me to find out if I would want to be an advanced reader
for Spice. My answer was an immediate “YES!” (I had just
preordered the book the night before, funnily enough). Unfortunately, the offer came
at a time when there was a lot going on in my family (I literally
received the offer while my mother was in surgery, and that was only
the beginning) and at work, so I didn’t get a chance to sit down and
read it until yesterday.Once I finally started, though? I sped
through the book in just under four hours, during which time I was
asked no less than three times if I was ever planning on leaving my
room – to which my response was “Not until I’m done with this
book!” I couldn’t tear myself away from it.It’s no secret that Spice had its start
as a fanfiction story, but, to use an awful metaphor, that story was
just a seed from which the novel became a tree. It grew and morphed
into something only minimally recognizable as that fic.I know Simon is the main character in
Spice, and I do quite like him as such, but for me, it’s Benji who is
the selling point. He’s cute and hot and silly and nerdy and charming
in all the right ways, but he’s not perfect. He’s a bit insecure and
tends to run away when things get hard, but he learns to fight that
impulse and try to work it out instead. I would like to place an
order for three of him for myself.(Walt, Simon’s dog, is adorable as
well, and I’m not quite ready to forgive Suzanne for writing a
certain scene involving him, even though it moves the plot forward.)This book is both sweet and undeniably
sexy – a given, considering the shenanigans Benji and Simon get up
to in the second half of the story – and you should read it as soon
as you get a chance.

I may or may not have just sped through Spice in less than four hours (and was asked no less than three times if I ever planned on leaving my room today).
Review to come tomorrow, but for now: can I please have my own Benji?
After getting several requests, I am now looking into the science behind bringing a fictional character to life. Will report back.
