Publishers Weekly review of Lilah Suzanne’s Broken Records

“Hollywood style meets Nashville charm in this sweet, sexy fling turned romance. Nico Takahashi has worked hard to build his business as an L.A. stylist. Success brings him disillusionment and fatigue with the shallow trivialities of celebrity culture. Then delectable country musician and playboy Grady Dawson shows up, seeking a new image and a new approach to his personal life. Sparks fly and Nico decides to follow Grady on a tour through the south. The two men get to know each other amid stolen moments and delightful, gentle ribbing, until Nico realizes that what he’d expected to be a brief affair is becoming much more. Nico remains charming and sympathetic as he struggles with questions about whether he can love Grady while sharing him with hordes of adoring fans, and tries to figure out what satisfaction and fulfillment might look like. Readers will enjoy this straightforward, charming tale. (Dec.)”

@interludepress needs to stop making discount on their books. Cause now that I’ve started buying some I want to buy them all but I’m a poor student. (But well, even if it mean I’llonly eat pasta for the next month it’s worth it)

Awesome! I hope you enjoy Spice. And uh, your pasta…

The Sea Holds Many Secrets

The Sea is a symphony of pleasant noise
when Morgan returns; the sounds envelop him warmly as he dives back into the
ocean. The water welcomes him, and Morgan can feel a thrum of excitement from
the Sea. He throws his pelt over his human shoulders and swims forward,
concentrating and calling forth the magic that lives within him. Going back is
easier; his pale limbs disappear in favor of flippers, and then all of Morgan’s
senses are alight again with awareness—of himself, of the Sea all around him.

Did I do right? Morgan asks, sending the hopeful
question out toward the ocean’s depths.

Even though some selkies say they’ve
heard the Sea’s voice, Morgan has never heard it; just glimpsed an image or
felt a phantom emotion that some selkies might just explain away. Morgan
believes, though, like his mother and most of his herd, that the Sea is alive,
and not just a magical network of information, not just a collection of
memories and stories from which selkies can pull knowledge. He’s felt the Sea’s
life, knows that the Sea, after centuries of emotions and dreams and desires
poured into it, is a force to be reckoned with.

* * *

Kevin Luong walks to the ocean’s edge with a broken heart. Remembering a legend his mother told him, he lets seven tears fall into the sea. “I just want one summer—one summer to be happy and in love.”

Instead, he finds himself saving a mysterious boy from the Pacific—a boy who later shows up on his doorstep professing his love. What he doesn’t know is that Morgan is a selkie, drawn to answer Kevin’s wish.

As they grow close, Morgan is caught between the dangers of the human world and his legacy in the selkie community to which he must return at summer’s end.
