Blog: Thoughts of a Slightly Social Anti-Socialite
Synful Desire
Queen of Spades

What reviewers are saying …
Harmony Kent, Author:
“Each collection of three is different. The reader will find darker tales that make them think, those with slightly more heat under the collar, and others with a twist. Each tale is short and easy to read, and folds seamlessly into the whole. I like the alternative offerings found here, which are a bit like eating an up-market three-course meal, rather than a single TV dinner where all the flavours are the same. Chances are, this little book has something for everyone.” 4 Stars
Y. Correa, Author:
“All in all, I would say that Continuous Drips is a book that you can keep on reading. Something that you can set on your nightstand and pick up whenever you’re in the mood for a quick yet great read. These ladies won’t let you down.” 5 Stars

Short Story Month, Part 3
Hello one and all!
Can I get a “Woot, woot!” forNational Short Story Month. As you probably know by now,Ive invited several authors to come and visit my blog to either talk about their short stories, orfeature a micro-short.
Today, Im happy to bring you all a special piece written bythe one and only Synful Desire, my family and friend. I’m a huge fan of her works. They are the sort that either make you giggle or sweat. Sometimes, both.
And now, with you all, “The Desktop Surprise” a microshort story by Synful Desire.
Shelley sat at her deskher fingers already in perfect tangent with the task of the day. Twelve numbers on the first row, six numbers on the second row, and nine numbers of the third row. Just as she was about to begin her letter typing sequence, a ding, followed by the appearance of an envelope icon, disrupted her assignment.
Shelley looked to the left and to the right. No one was watching. She supposed it was all right. Yet, who could it be? She was the small person on the hierarchy of importance. She wasnt the go to person when it came to email contact.
She directed her mouses white arrow towards the minimized window. She nervously glanced again, this time at the black multi lined phone. All of the bosses lines were lit, each engaged in decision making, life changing conference calls.
Shelleys pulse raced as she maximized the window. She did in fact have a message. The sender line read Anonymous. The subject line read Something Special for Shelley.
She had never gotten anything anonymous before. In all of the romantic movies it usually indicated a wonderful surprise. Besides, even the subject said it was special. Roger complimented her on her new skirt the other day. Could it have come from him?
She double tapped the left button on her mouse. There was only one line, along with a box below.
For Your Viewing Pleasure, Shelley.
The box below the text had a triangle in the center, with the word Play underneath it. Shelley took her headphones from her purse, then plugged them into the jack. She thought they couldnt play videos due to the new security filters set in place.
Here goes. Shelley whispered to herself while selecting the arrow.
At first, all Shelley could see was a queen sized bed covered with red sheets. Then, a young lady walked in, taking her position on the bed. She was wearing a white lace camisole. However, that was not what sparked Shelleys interest. It was a combination of things.
The woman was one of the newest interns that had just started at the organization. Was her name Marci, or Marli? There was also something missing from the ensemblethe matching bottom.
Marcis (executive decision made, plus it was easier to pronounce) emerald eyes shone with unhidden lust. Its about time you got here Shelley. Im swollen with want for you.
Marci spread her legs to expose her once hidden treasure. Let me show you how hot you make me.
As Marci put her fingers to work, Shelleys breathing became as labored as Marcis. She placed her hands between her legs, fighting the urge to join Marci in her activity. Just as when Shelley was about to let her stifled moans burst forth, an instant message popped up from her boss.
Shelley, grab the documents I just printed. Thanks.
By the time Shelley rushed to grab the papers for her boss, the video feed ended.
WOO! See what I meant about making you giggle AND sweat?
Okie dokie … until next time mis amores!

Short Story Month, Part 2
Well, as you all know, throughout this month I’ll be having several people visiting my blog in celebration of National Short Story Month. Today, I bring you the one and only …
Queen of Spades, Poet Extraordinaire!
She’ll be sharing a “Character Speak Guest Post” with us of one of the primary characters in her short story called “Util” (that means “useful” in Spanish) which is featured in The Collective’s anthology called “Continuous Drips”.
First, the blurb as per Goodreads:
Abbreviated blurb: Different colors of ink collide in this short story anthology Continuous Drips by The Collective. The Collective is composed of authors Da’Kharta Rising, Synful Desire, and Queen of Spades:
Take a trip into darkness with Da’Kharta Rising with “Unrest”, “Omitted” and “The Kutters”.
Love, loss, and erotic heat hypnotically swirl in the mind of Synful Desire when reading “Derailed Endurance”, “Final Prep to Happiness” and “FAN-tasy Island”.
Episodes of human interaction displacement are given in doses when Queen of Spades presents “Misfortune”, “Afro Shock”, and “Util.”
And now, I shall tarry no further. I leave with you the “Character Speak Guest Post” of “Util” from “Continuous Drips”, a National Short Story Month feature by Queen of Spades.
Hello, my name is Shar. I am the Executive Manager of Marketing Design at til Enterprises
Oh, wait! Thats right. Thats my old title. I was Executive Manager of Marketing Design at til Enterprises until the infamous Memo. The memo that called for Administrative Reconstruction.
Okay, so it did say there were going to be cost cutting measures and focus on the administrative staff. I didnt think it applied to me. I have the look of an ideal til executive in marketing. Everything name brand, my favorite brand being Louis Vuitton. Everything matching, my favorite color being pink. Everything being the best in technologyIm #TeamApple all the way.
Like I said, I am perfection in this field!
A perfect woman does need a perfect man by her side. The guy closest to that blueprint in the office was Vance. Hes the second best dresser there, next to me, of course. Plus, he is full of confidence, and confidence attracts confidence. Yet, it seemed he was playing hard to get, no matter how much I tried to get his attention. A certain incident we will not discuss at this time.
I just do not understand why this new CEO came in and fired me! All right, if you want to be technically correct, I did quit. It was ridiculous though! So what if there were moments when I left early or took two hour lunches? That was no reason for him to eliminate my title and demote me to working with the customer service representatives, the peons of til! It would be too embarrassing, especially if I ran into people that I used to manage.
As much as I wanted to be with Vance, I have too much pride! Besides, what would he have thought? He would have never given me the time of day with such a pay dock. It was better that I leave with my dignity and let others speculate at that time on what occurred.
Thanks for having me here.
I see you love pink, just like I do. (hands you a card) Maybe we can do business together. Its called Colors of Positivity: The Power of Pink. Id love to have you as a client, maybe as a fellow consultant along the way. E-mail or call me.
Bye!
Thank YOU for stopping by Shar! It was great having you!

National Short Story Month, Part 1
Hello one and all!
If you are not aware, May 1st marked the beginning of National Short Story Month. In celebration of Nation Short Story Month, I’ve invited several authors to come and visit my blog to either talk about their short stories, orfeature a micro-short.
Today, I’m happy to bring you all a special piece written by one, Mr. Adonis Mann.
First a little bit about Adonis …
Author Bio:
Adonis Mann was published with All Authors Publishing House. His very first short story titled “… and we” made its debut in “Concordant Vibrancy: Unity, An All Authors Anthology“. Although a self professed introvert, Adonis stands for quite a few things:
1. Equality for all and freedom of being. He is not an advocate of the divide between people because of their sexual preference, their race, colorand/orreligious beliefs.
2. He stands for his people. Those being my friends, family, and hisAll Authors Family.
3. Delicious FOOD! No rabbit food allowed.
4. Gaming, to satisfy his inner nerd.
Without further adieu, I present you with “… and she: The Short Story of Constance McBride” by Adonis Mann.
He shared me, my Ronin. Yes, he did. That much is true.
I ask that you allow me a moment to share my story. I am Constance McBride.
At first I was his and his alone, then I wasnt enough. His appetitethat thirst for coitionunabated, so I relented. I gave in to his desire, consequently becoming the center of their longing.
Ronin knows nothing of love, not at all.
I do. I also know this I love him. It is for love that I complied with his wish.
Why had I become content and accustomed to living off of the meager emotional scraps that Ronin tossed me? I dont know. Perhaps it was the passivity of his ways; that mellow luster that is his personality, the ease with which I can delight in his presence.
No muss, no fuss, just us.
Ive never had to worry about Ronin being jealous or possessive. Ive never once had to concern myself with any insecurities that he might have. Never not ever. Its always been simple to love him. Uncomplicated and in some obscure way, rewarding. Ronin has always been there when Ive needed him. Hes never wavered when Ive wanted him. His heart may have never been mineit may very well never bebut he, I was certain, would always be by my side.
Then came Charles. He was so much like Ronineasy to connect with and gorgeous to boot. Ronin was darker than Charles. They seemed to balance each other out. Suddenly Id gotten the best of both worlds; tall, dark and handsome and a blue eyed, blond babe. Both of them with a certain je ne sais quoi that kept me affixed like a puppy on a leash.
While some people may wonder why I put myself in this position, what they dont understand is the arrangement between us. We, are a whole.
At the first prospect of being the only female in this relationship, I cringed. As a matter of fact, I couldve spat in their faces. Yet, I was also lying to myself. I knew that I would do whatever Ronin asked of me. My pride was hurt and once I got over that all was fine with the world.
The day I met Charles was as undemanding and carefree as the first time Id met Ronin. I was staggered at how simple it was, natural even, to share myself between them with them. Perhaps it was out of need, or curiosity. Whatever the case, all of the sudden, I was their communal endeavor and they were mine to be had at a moments notice. My shared adventure. My other halves.
Constance, were waiting,
Ill be right there, my loves. Just one moment. Yes, I know. What can I say? Even the sound of Charles voice makes me slip off my robe and turn my back to this conversation. I have to go now because here we are he and he and she.
Im coming, boys!
For more about this feverish threesome, go pick your copy of “Concordant Vibrancy: Unity, An All Authors Anthology” at Amazon, and turn to “… and we” by Adonis Mann.
Adonis, thank you for stopping by! As always, you’re marvelous.
Love, love to you all!
Rosie

The Ladies from “Delectable Things: Special Edition”
Hello All!
Today I bring you another special. :D
It is my pleasure to bring youthe doubleinterview of the characters from “Delectable Things: Special Edition” by Synful Desire, in celebration of Nation Short Story Month.
When I say ‘we’ I literally mean a few people. Joining the fray today is:
Y. Correa, Muti-genre author
Da’Kharta Rising, author of “Boundless Limits”
Queen of Spades, poet extraordinaire
And me, of course.
Each of us have asked Evianne & Amber some questions.
From Y. Correa, To Evianne: If you knew that Amber wasn’t into monogamy, why did you opt to stay with her?
Well, I believed that for the right person, Amber would change. For a brief while she did. Then, I suppose she got bored, or perhaps this concept of being with just one person frightened her. So she went back to what was comfortable, to what she knew.
From Da’Kharta, To Amber: If you knew that you weren’t really down with monogamy, why are you in a relationship with someone who wants that?
Here is the thing with Eve. She will claim to want monogamy yet in the same breath, say she will do what it takes to make me happy. I never lied to her about the type of person I was. Besides I tried it her way and it’s just not my thing. Also, if she really wants to leave, I’m not stopping her. I must be doing something right because she keeps coming home to me!
From Queen, ToEvianne: What was it about Amber that attracted you to her?
Her spirit. Her overall aura. Amber has a personality that is very magnetic. Her laughter is bubbly and contagious. Plus she’s not bad in the sac, either. (winks)
From Rose, ToEvianne: Had you lost your relationship with Amber to one of her sexual escapades, would you had stayed working with her at Delectable Things?
Yes because Vicki gave me a shot when I was let go by my previous employer when I came out about my sexual preference. Therefore whether I was in a relationship with Amber matters none.

When Romancing the Words Is Only the Icing On the Cake
As you all know, I am part of the collective talent of authors which belong to All Authors Publishing House. This past January All Authors Publishing House put out a short story anthology called “Concordant Vibrancy: Unity, An All Authors Anthology“, which can be found at Amazon.com.
I was blessed enough to be called among the various talents that were featured in this collection, and blessed also to have read it. It’s a fantastic collection of stories by several talented individuals in their own independent right.
Among those stories one stuck out above them all. The reason was because of the method in which that story was written.
It was “… and we” by the one and only Mr. Adonis Mann.
Never had I experienced reading an LGBT Erotica story before in my life, and I found myself thinking, “If all LGBT Erotica stories are like this one, count me in!”
My Publisher taught mesometime agoabout a little thing that she likes to call “Romancing the Words“. This has nothing to do with actual romance, but it implies a poetic effect to the delivery of one’s prose. I found the topic interesting because of the manner in which she explained it. Basically, it boils down to a love of words, and then applying said love in a manner that depicts a fascinating picture for the reader.
Now, if ANYONE knows how to Romance the Words, it is Mr. Adonis Mann! I mean, seriously, just … WOW!
There are Writers and then there are Storytellers. What’s the difference you ask?
The difference is the manner in which said person narrates his/herstory. Writers are more general with their approach to writing, they also tend to be more contemporary and conservative. They portray an idea of a story in the hopes that the idea formulates an image in the readers head.
A Storytellerhas a God given knack for using his/her verbiage to sketchout a perfectimage in the readers mind with relative ease by using a select collection of wordssome of those words, fancy ones. Think Shakespeare.
Mr. Mann … ? He’s a story teller!
I was truly astounded at his skill for putting a story together that not only enthralls the readers, but also entices the imagination … and being that it’s Erotica, it quells the needs for something spicy.
Out of all of the stories within the “Concordant Vibrancy” collection, “… and we” stands in a category all its own. It will stay with me for a long time. I can totally see myself going back to read it time and time again.
Mr. Mann …
~KUDOS! On you OUTSTANDING WORK!~

When Good Deeds Aren’t Returned in Kind
Oh, yes. That’s right.
Please excuse me, my throat inches … EHEM!
*insert sarcastic throat scratching here*
All right, is it just me or does it seem like this world of “Reviews” has become a cluttered, chaotic mess of bullshit?
Us authors are running around like crack-heads feenin’ for a simple review. It’s like “Oh, come on man, I’ll do anything! Just one hit! Just one review! Anything, I swear!“
So then, seeing as how the public is apparently wholly against leaving reviews, we turn to other authors. Some of us do “review exchanges” others ask, so on and so forth. It’s like a never ending cycle.
When one is lucky enough to happen upon the rare commodity that is the author willing to give a review, something happens…
Be it out of appreciation, or a sense of duty to the writing community, or a need to reciprocate the favor, an author like myself will pick up all of that other author’s works, read it and leave reviews for them. Then we sit and wait.
…. and wait.
…. and wait.
…. and wait.
And the review that we’d been promised never comes.
Huh?!?
Umm … What? Wait, what happened here?
I suppose that situation is one of many. Yet, there is another situation bouncing around the ether.
So … one does a general reach out asking people if they would be interested in a free copy of one’s bookin exchange for an honest review. Readers do not reply to your request, but low and behold authors respond. “Sure, I’ll give it a shot.” they say, and you jump for joy.
Then begins the waiting game, yet again.
Guess what? The review never comes.
Now maybe this is just a me thing, but if I give my word, I consider my word, my bond. If I say I am going to do something, I will do it. This coming from a person with a very bad memory. Trust me … my mind looks like Swiss Cheese … and yet, I keep my word.
What winds up happening is that I find myself questioning things. Things like:
Does peoples even word count for nothing any more?
Why would they offer then not come through?
Is my book/story so bad that they don’t want to post the review? If so, why wouldn’t they just come to me and say “Hey Rose, your book is shit.”?
Don’t they realize that I’d be grateful for any review, even a not so favorable one? A review, is a review!
Why? I don’t understand?
Did they forget? Should I remind them? Is reminding them pushing the envelope too far?
Is it even proper etiquette to remind them?
Am I practicing proper author etiquette? Wait, is it me? Am I doing something wrong?
Then commences the downward spiral of one’s morale.
Along with that comes a million and one more questions …
Man, why did I even bother wasting my time trying to get published in the first place?
If no one can be bother toso much as to give it a simple “I hate it” or “I love it” review what’s the point?
Do I even want to put out more works at this point?
Is it a “rookie”thing? No one likes the rookie …
What am I doing wrong?
Why even go on in this venture?
All of this simply because of a review. If you ask me, that’s just sad. A damn shame, to tell you the truth.
All of this because we walk inside of the dingy, dark corridors of a place called “Reviews”. How do we fix this problem, you ask?
Easy.
Keep you dag-on word!

When the Author is the Fan
Have you ever read the work of another author and instantly become a fan of said author?
Such was the case for me. I’m sure you’re wondering what I am talking about. Before I indulge you, allow me to “fan-out” for a minute.
Alright … now that that’s out of the way.
I am talking about the one and only Author Queen of Spades. In celebration of National Poetry Month, I would like to share with you my thoughts on one of her poetry collections, as well as one of her short stories, and then tell you a little bit about what makes me such a fan
Let’s get this under way, shall we?
Blurb:
Dare to take a journey beyond the skin in this Deluxe edition of Eclectic. Eclectic: Beyond the Skin includes a bonus section, Deep Tissue, containing the short story “Misfortune”, which will be featured in Queen of Spades’ upcoming short story collection, Continuous Drips, set for release late next year.
Disclaimer: This collection has strong language and deals with issues which may not be suitable for a younger audience.
My Review:
The best way I can describe this collection is by saying, it’s a little bit of this and a little bit of that. It vividly displays the layers of humanity. Like the title says, it goes “beyond the skin” to the depths of the human soul.
Fantastic read.
Then there is …
Blurb:
Dahna is quite comfortable in her role as an outcast. Her favorite activities are painting her nails and hanging out on the beach. An observation by the quirky Carr leads to an endearing friendship between two unlikely people.
This is a short story of just under 1,900 words. When Summer Lingers was first featured in the Durham Editing & Ebooks short story anthology, “Summer Shorts II: Best Kept Secrets”.
My Review:
“When Summer Lingers” is the story about the instant connection of two strangers whomsubsequently become the best of friends. While some surmise that their friendship is more than, nothing is actually mentioned other than the fact that they grew very close.
The story then takes an unexpected turn, which leads to something else entirely that most wouldn’t expect when reading astory such as this.
I fell in love with this short story because of the depth of premise. It amazed me how in such a short span of time, such a full story was told. I’m always impressed when an author can do that.
What an inspiring little story.
When I think of Queen of Spades, I think of passion in the form ofsmoothly introduced prose. It’s like an ignited fire, waftedby a soft breeze. A combination of tenderness and ferocity. A superb combination.
I can’t say for sure what it is about her writing style that captivates me and makes me want to come back for more, maybe because it’s more than one thing.
Perhaps its the ease of narrative coupled with the earnestness of real life. Perhaps the fact that in her poetry and contemporary works one can see all the aspects that contribute to the authenticity of humanity.
While I cannotpinpoint for sure what it is, truth be told, what I can ascertainis that she is myroll model. I yearn to mimic the facility of story telling in my own works. Her stories are told through the eyes of a true storyteller, one that can connect with and understand her audience.
She’s wonderful, as is all that she puts on paper.
Thank you Queen, for sharing your remarkable works with the world.
Rosie :D
