YA Paranormal; what’s you preference?

I <3 YA ParanormalOkay, let’s be honest; YA Paranormal is a booming literary industry. However, there are so many sub-genres to choose from that I often wonder what the most popular is and what people prefer.

See, the question stems from my desire to experience something new, something different. Yet, the vast majority of what I see on the market is Vampires and Werewolves. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but do any of you feel the same way as me and desire something- well, something else!

Personally, since what drives my desire to delve into a different realm of YA Paranormal is my lust for something different, I write what I yearn to read. But is everyone like me? Probably not. With that said, cast your vote.

What’s your favorite?
Perhaps, your vote might inspire my creativity .

IT’S OUT! Nethanyel’s Lady Lune.

br

woot

Today, is the release of …

nll

NLL.Cov2

Blurb:

Even the moon has secrets …

Traversing the globe—from Louisiana, USA to New Zealand—on an enterprise to discover the hidden secrets of the moon, Nethanyel finds that everything may not be as it seems. Accompanied by a consequential companion named Jax, Nethanyel is taken to a place … even a time … that he would have never expected.

Set in the year 1940, is Nethanyel’s Lady Lune exploration, fate or both?

Excerpt:

“Bartender …?” Nethanyel called, his voice drenched in the quintessential inflection of the Bayou—a collective accentuation of English, French and Creole. Tapping his glass twice on the counter he indicated that he wanted a refill. Nethanyel was a quiet person; always collected and controlled. Wise men were strong, calm and reticent, or so his father had taught him. Nevertheless, Nethanyel preferred to be that way, for in a multitude of words sin does not lack.

The bartender turned to Nethanyel, slipping him another drink. It was at a moment like this—when he could sit quietly to enjoy his drink—that Nethanyel thanked the heavens that he was a mere child during the Prohibition. Now, a man could enjoy a hard drink after a long day’s work.

Nethanyel could hear someone stumbling in, drunk and disorderly. This was nothing new. Things like this happened in bars all the time. What happened next was new however. The man who had barged in obnoxiously called, “Bartender, pour me a cold one, would ya?” Nethanyel considered that the man had a funny accent, but could not place it and furthermore said nothing. He didn’t so much as turn around to acknowledge the drunken bastard.

The bartender poured the stranger his drink, as the man came waltzing over to sit right next to Nethanyel. “You’re not from around here.” the bartender commented matter-of-factly.

“No, my good man. Indeed I’m not,”

“Where from?”

“Far from here, my good sir. Oceans away …” he said as he extended his arm, waving it in one large circle towards the horizon.

“That didn’t answer my question,” the bartender was an older man. I’m too damn old to play “name that accent” with this fool, thought the bartender. So he kept his conversations straight and to the point.

“Ah, well,” the odd stranger commented with a subtlety that made the words slip off his tongue, “I am from New Zealand, mate.”

“Why you callin’ me ‘mate’? You don’t even know me.” the bartender said in an unvarnished tone then turned his back to the drunkard.

Feeling the awkwardness of the moment the man’s eye shot to the floor and then looked around the room, lifting his glass to whom ever made eye contact with him. Tilting his body’s weight into Nethanyel, he murmured, “Lively crowd we got here.” sarcasm absolute.

“Mhm.” Nethanyel hummed. Why must idiots like this insist on bugging me? Nethanyel pondered, then attempted to turn away from the man. No luck.

“Well …” the man huffed “it must be the weather then,” thinking his comeback was funny. It wasn’t. Extending his hand towards Nethanyel and offering a handshake, the inebriated man attempted to introduce himself. Nethanyel was in no mood for chit-chat, formalities, or anything of the sort. Nethanyel grabbed his drink, offering his back as a response to the drunk nitwit’s attempt.

Not catching on to the hint, the inebriated fellow maneuvered his already extended hand to Nethanyel’s shoulder and patted it, then continued with his conversation, “Jax here. Nice to meet you.” Then intentionally talked through his teeth, “Not that I actually met you, or anybody else for that matter. Wow! And I thought that Louisiana was a friendly place. You know? Considering the Mardi Gras and all.”

By now Nethaniel was very uncomfortable, so he stood up, taking his drink along with him and sat a few feet away. Attempting to find a new chatting partner Jax, the intoxicated New Zealander, turned to the bartender once more and asked cynically, “So are parties this lively all the time?”

“Just about.” the bartender replied with a nod. Noticing that Jax wasn’t going to give up on trying to form conversation he asked, “What brings you to Louisiana? It’s not Mardi Gras season.”

“Yes, yes. That I’m well aware of, mate. I’ve actually come to America to do some research. Louisiana, is merely where the boat docked. So, here I am. Tah-dah!

“Oh.” was all the bartender replied, not once asking Jax to elaborate. Truth be told, he wasn’t even interested.

Jax continued, “You see, I’m doing some research on the moon. There is an old legend where I’m from that talks about the moon. However, I’m told that there are more resources here than there are back home. I intend on finding those resources and taking full advantage of them. The moon really is quite interesting, actually.”

Nethanyel’s ears tuned into Jax’s conversation. The moon? Yeah, that’s what he said, Nethanyel thought. Picking up his glass he walked back over to Jax.

I Love #FanQuestions

Hi Lo!

Rose here!

Alright, so … as most of you know by now, I absolutely love answering Fan Questions.

Here is a great one that I got this morning.

How did you discover the angel that’s part of your logo and how did she become a part of your identity?

60641138

This is a very short story, but it does entail a bit of depth. Not too much, but some.

When my publisher made my first logo, it was great. I was looking for something that had the “desert rose” in it and that represented who I was. So, my publisher came up with this …

8178176_zps44c253b7

I happened to like it very much. I thought it was really pretty and not only had a desert rose in it, but also (via the colors and shapes) represented my diversity. So, it was great.

For some time, I sported this logo with pride and didn’t question it once. Until the day that my publisher decided it was time for an upgrade for all of the members of the House.

When she asked me what I wanted my new logo to be, I said, “Well, something with an angel in it would be cool.”

Off she went to create said logo.

After having gathered several angel images, my publisher approached me and said “Hey Rose, can you please look at these and tell me which angel you like best?”

“Sure!” I replied and went off happily to do the task at hand.

In total there were about 6 angel images. Just the angel, not the completed logo. Let me see if I can find them and share them with you.

Hold on …

9t4gDvw

Okay, I’m back.

Alright, here they are.

Angel 1
Angel 2
Angel 3
Angel 4
Angel 5
Angel 6

I looked at each one intently and thought of how she would represent me. Basically, I needed my angel to shine. More than that, she needed to make me feel something.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I thought they were all beautiful in their own way and because of that I took my time going through them.

Angel 1 reminded me of a fairy.

Angel 2 looked she was trying to seduce me.

Angel 3 while very pretty, frankly looked too innocent.

Angel 4 had me confused. I wasn’t sure what she was doing with her arms.

Angel 5 looked like she had on a Halloween costume.

Then came Angel 6!
↓ MY FACE

Brown_Monsters_25-01

SHE WAS PERFECT!

Not only was she beautiful, but she sang to me! She was perfect in every way; majestic, tender yet strong, noble, dignified, extraordinary!

She said, “Rose, I am here to show the world who you are and what you offer. I am the incarnation of otherworldliness, and I can be your herald.”

I said, “Angel 6, YOU GOT THE JOB!”

She replied, “Never fear, my guidance is here. Here, take my hand and follow my lead.”

And I was all like, “HELL YEAH, Angel 6!”

It was at that moment that Angel 6 became the visual incarnation of what I longed for all of my stories to be.

Then, when I got back the completed logo and Angel 6 was now scattering roses along heaves gate, I went goo-goo gah-gah over it.

Rose.Logo1

And THAT my lovelies, is the story of how my newest logo came into fruition.

One of the questions that was on my mind…

What was Nethanyel’s fascination with the moon?

Luckily, the author herself took time to stop by to answer.

Hmm, well, let me see here.

We are in the year 1940 after all, I’m sure that there are has to be something out there for us to do.

Oh, well there is the commemoration of the Centennial Exhibition.

There was also an amazing remake of a 1925 film called “Rewi’s Last Stand”. It’s a motion picture now. Incredibly exciting, methinks. Or perhaps we can play Cricket or watch Horse Racing.

Wait, wait, wait. Hold on. Desire, are you asking me out on a date, or are you…

#ThisHere #FanQuestion

5WfUidH

I was asked these two questions:

If you could date any of your characters, who would it be and why?

And …

Also, from the male characters in your works, which guy would just be your friend, which one would be just for fun, and which one would be marriage material?

I THESE QUESTIONS and while I could have addressed them separately, I really felt the need to talk about them in unison.

heart-falling-animation7

Let’s start with the first question.

If you could date any of your characters, who would it be and why?

Alright, if we are just talking about dating and nothing more, then you might be surprised with my answer.

I would have to say Gabriel, from “If Death Should Love Me“. Gabriel is the iconic, smooth talking, sexy and lust worthy bad boy.

a383f-covids

Now, notice I said “dating only“. While dating can be considered a relationship, it isn’t the “be all, end all” of relationships. Therefore, one can date someone for a while just for shits and giggles and not be serious at all.

Why would I date an evil angel? Well, because he’s HOT, and for no other reason. Of course, I would go into the relationship with realistic expectations. I couldn’t date Gabriel and expect him to settle down, marry me and have children. But, I would, without a doubt, get my fix of “hot, sexy, bad boy” with Gabriel.

A little bit about Gabriel.

Imagine this —>

This +

This!!

But a bit more mature, with a side of British Bad Boy Swagger. What woman that wants a little bit of excitement in her life, WOULDN’T go goo-goo-gah-gah over Gabriel?!

Shoot, I know I would melt! Period!

On to question 2:

From the male characters in your works, which guy would just be your friend, which one would be just for fun, and which one would be marriage material?

THIS is an amazing question! Mostly because this isn’t something I thought about when writing my works.

Here are your answers …

Which guy would just be a friend?

Jax, from “Nethanyel’s Lady Lune“.

NLL.Prototype

Jax, would totally be my buddy because he is just like me in that he’s a quirky nerd that loves what he loves, and doesn’t pay much attention to romance. But, Jax is a genuine soul, with his friend’s best interest at heart, although he doesn’t alway accomplish that very well.

Who would be “just for fun”?

Hmmm, that’s a hard question. Simply because most of the male characters in my books aren’t really the kind that are made for fun. Well, except maybe for Gabriel.

HOWEVER, if I HAD to choose, I’d probably say that it would be Tango from “A Tragedy: The Short Story of Fox & Tango“.

17bae-83c004b49b62b55eb7bd8e16f2702748a85d084d

Why? Well, because he’s a sexy hot young cat. I’m all in on having fun a Cougar style fling. But, it would be just that. Fun and nothing more.

Who would be “marriage material”?

That’s easy!

Haniel from “Serendipitous Mirth“, my short story contribution to “Crackles of the Heart: Divergent Ink Book 1

dicovernewpng

Haniel is the definition of tender hearted, caring, understanding and loyal. He has all of the best qualities that a woman looks for in a man, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s a hunk too!

Nethanyel’s Lady Lune

NLL.Prototype

Can I tell you all that I am super excited about my upcoming novelette “Nethanyel’s Lady Lune“?

Mh51-RoseDivider_(1)

Now, I know that you’re all probably wondering what happened to the release of “Demoness Enchanted“. Allow me to bring you up to speed on that …

The release of “Demoness Enchanted” was delayed by a few months. Reason being, that it simply wasn’t ready. Instead my Publisher and I opted to release “Nethanyel’s Lady Lune“.

Alrighty then. With that said …

Mh51-RoseDivider_(1)

Nethanyel’s Lady Lune” is based in 1940 and is about a Louisianan man named Nethanyel (obviously) that has an inexplicable infatuation with the moon. Embarking on a trip across the ocean, to the most unexpected place—New Zealand—Nethaneyl discovers that his fascination was well-grounded.

Is it fate or coincidence? It’s up to you to decide.

Here is an excerpt:

That night …

As always the moon shimmered into the sea as if the ocean were the canvas and the moon the artist. Nethanyel had no true perception as to whether he was still on the boat or floating over the water. All that he could see, focus on, was the beauty of the scenery. Nethanyel felt himself being pulled upwards towards the glistening globe that was his femme fatale, La Lune. Now he was certain that he was floating, that he was being carried to her. Perhaps it was she that was beseeching him to oblige her in some way, perhaps because she knew that every waking moment he remained transfixed by her splendor. This could conceivably be his much desired moment of exaltation—was she calling him home perchance?

Then, much like a driven wind, a voice pierced the serenity of the night and the bewitchment of this sublime ascension. Two words traversed the space, two powerful words and he could not pinpoint the source … “Save me …!”

With a start Nethanyel woke up, sweat dripping down his forehead, neck and chest.

Mh51-RoseDivider_(1)

So, “Nethanyel’s Lady Lune” will be released on the 31st of this month. I’m uber excited! Here are the details:

Genre: Youth/Young Adult Fantasy Fiction

Release Date: October 31st, 2015

Category: Novelette

Publisher: All Authors Publishing House

Well, that’s about it for toady. I just wanted to share the awesome news.

Toodles,

Rosie :D
