Short Story Month, Part 2
Well, as you all know, throughout this month I’ll be having several people visiting my blog in celebration of National Short Story Month. Today, I bring you the one and only …
Queen of Spades, Poet Extraordinaire!
She’ll be sharing a “Character Speak Guest Post” with us of one of the primary characters in her short story called “Util” (that means “useful” in Spanish) which is featured in The Collective’s anthology called “Continuous Drips”.
First, the blurb as per Goodreads:
Abbreviated blurb: Different colors of ink collide in this short story anthology Continuous Drips by The Collective. The Collective is composed of authors Da’Kharta Rising, Synful Desire, and Queen of Spades:
Take a trip into darkness with Da’Kharta Rising with “Unrest”, “Omitted” and “The Kutters”.
Love, loss, and erotic heat hypnotically swirl in the mind of Synful Desire when reading “Derailed Endurance”, “Final Prep to Happiness” and “FAN-tasy Island”.
Episodes of human interaction displacement are given in doses when Queen of Spades presents “Misfortune”, “Afro Shock”, and “Util.”
And now, I shall tarry no further. I leave with you the “Character Speak Guest Post” of “Util” from “Continuous Drips”, a National Short Story Month feature by Queen of Spades.
Hello, my name is Shar. I am the Executive Manager of Marketing Design at til Enterprises
Oh, wait! Thats right. Thats my old title. I was Executive Manager of Marketing Design at til Enterprises until the infamous Memo. The memo that called for Administrative Reconstruction.
Okay, so it did say there were going to be cost cutting measures and focus on the administrative staff. I didnt think it applied to me. I have the look of an ideal til executive in marketing. Everything name brand, my favorite brand being Louis Vuitton. Everything matching, my favorite color being pink. Everything being the best in technologyIm #TeamApple all the way.
Like I said, I am perfection in this field!
A perfect woman does need a perfect man by her side. The guy closest to that blueprint in the office was Vance. Hes the second best dresser there, next to me, of course. Plus, he is full of confidence, and confidence attracts confidence. Yet, it seemed he was playing hard to get, no matter how much I tried to get his attention. A certain incident we will not discuss at this time.
I just do not understand why this new CEO came in and fired me! All right, if you want to be technically correct, I did quit. It was ridiculous though! So what if there were moments when I left early or took two hour lunches? That was no reason for him to eliminate my title and demote me to working with the customer service representatives, the peons of til! It would be too embarrassing, especially if I ran into people that I used to manage.
As much as I wanted to be with Vance, I have too much pride! Besides, what would he have thought? He would have never given me the time of day with such a pay dock. It was better that I leave with my dignity and let others speculate at that time on what occurred.
Thanks for having me here.
I see you love pink, just like I do. (hands you a card) Maybe we can do business together. Its called Colors of Positivity: The Power of Pink. Id love to have you as a client, maybe as a fellow consultant along the way. E-mail or call me.
Bye!
Thank YOU for stopping by Shar! It was great having you!
