What Is On My Mind

As many of you know,I have been driving forLyftthis year to make a little extra money. As you all will find out,if you haven't already, retirement sucks.Unless you have something to do.I am getting off track here. The reason that I brought up the fact that I am driving forLyftis,I am on the road a lot,and I am always on the lookout forReckless Drivers.A disheartening thing is going on,on our roads of late. Thanks to all theUnlimited Data Planscell-phone companies are offering. What the heck am I talking about?Well, people are not paying attention to the road, while they are driving, because they are watchingNetflixon their cell-phones!See the source image STOP IT!

Let Us All Party Like It Is 1955

I know what you are wondering. What am I,
as a reader,
going to do until New Year's Eve? How can I come up with a legitimate excuse to party right fro the start of this weekend? Because,
with the younger crowd, there is no school,
and they have a full week of rest to prepare. For you older folks,
who now work for a living, your
Christmas
three day weekend up,and you are hoping for something special to do this coming three day weekend. What to do? You know you want to celebrate this coming weekend in style.
So,
what do you do?Let's start the party on
Friday,
December 29th! I know what you are saying, "What a great idea. But New Year's Eve is on Sunday! What are we celebrating?"You are one smart cookie to ask such a good question. I have the answer for you. We will celebrate, "The Birth of an icon! TwoBuckHowie's Birthday!" Yes,Ladies & Gentlemen, Boys & Girls, Cats & Dogs, Worms & Fishes,
Grasshoppers & Birds, it's my birthday!Let us celebrate it like it's 1955! The year I was born. Please,
no presents.Give to the charity of your choice, even if it is only one dollar, and that would be a good enough gift for me.

Understanding Sunday

Sunday is theday of the weekafterSaturdaybut beforeMonday.Sunday is a day of rest in mostWestern Countries,as a part of theweekend. For most observantChristians,Sunday is observed as a day of worshipand rest.Holding it as theLord's Dayand the day ofChrist's Resurrection. In someMuslim countriesandIsrael,Sunday is the first work day of the week.According to theHebrew calendarsand traditionalChristian Calendars,Sunday is the first day of the week. However, according to theInternational Organization for Standardization,Sunday is the seventhand last day of the week. Image result for sunday And besides all that,it isChristmas Eve! I know,we are not all of the sameReligion, but,we all have a three day weekend!Except for those who have to work.

The Man From Mars - Episode Thirty One

I asked Ponleak for a gin and tonic. He mixes one up and tosses in an ice-cube.

With all the fancy extra features this limousine has, like a wi-fi connection, satellite TV, which for the life of me I can't figure out how he gets reception while we are moving, and the bar itself, you would figured the designer of the vehicle would have added a larger cooler for more ice.
I'm sure, as the Man from Mars says he is, the richest man in the world, why skimp on the ice?
"Well George, do you have any other, more pertinent question for me, now that you have your drink?" Asked Ponleak.
I wanted to ask him about the ice cooler, but thought better of it. I didn't know how much time I was going to have with him, so I had better come up with some good questions.
The first thing I asked was, "How come your species lives so long compared to us?"
"Fair enough question." He replied. "Your species too, will eventually live thousands of years. It's just that humans are still in their infancy, as far as their potential and the scale in their evolution."
He pauses here. I don't know if it was for dramatic effect, or if he was really contemplating mankind's future.
"It is my hope," he begins again. "That as mankind gains longevity in their lifespan, that the seeds that my people have planted inside of you for exploration, will eventually take you beyond the solar system. Something I have been dreaming about, my whole life. I am hoping, by giving mankind the amulet, you will use it wisely, and advance your technology to the point, that I might yet be able to go into outer-space myself."
Then I asked stupidly, "With your advanced knowledge, why didn't you help mankind along quicker?"
"Mister Johnson," starts out saying, with sarcasm in his voice. "I thought I already explained mankind's propensity to be afraid of what they do not know. Only now, does your species except leaps and bounds in advancements with technology. No longer believing they are signs of witchcraft or the workings of the devil."
I felt a little foolish, not thinking my question through before I asked it. But, the point he gave me now, made me think of a question that has been bothering me since my dreams of Ponleak's life.
"Do Atlanteans believe in God?" I asked. "Do you have, or I should ask, did you have any form of Religion on Mars?"
   He smiled before he answered.
"Yes, of course. We believe in an almighty deity, who created the first molecule and so forth. But, unlike you humans, we don't believe he is benevolent to our species alone or yours. He is too busy with all the multi-universes he has created, to concern himself with one little planet."
He continued with a bigger smile, "Besides, if he did just watch over this blue planet, why would he let so much genocide, among its people, happen throughout the ages?"
I am not a theologian, so I didn't have an answer for his question. So I asked him a two part question.
"Who am I running from and why?"
That took the smile right off his face. He sat there for a second, then drained the last of his drink in one gulp.
Before he could answer though, the privacy window came down, and a man who might be Tiny's twin brother said, "Sir. We are entering the compound."

Thanks Again To The Marines & To Stater Brothers

It gets kind of lonely around here when you don't have any grandchildren running around.
But,
hopefully I will be able to visit them all soon.
Here are three stories from my
Friday, May 29, 2015, Post
Thank You To The Military & To Stater Brothers.
They are fond memories.

 ****
 You might be wondering,
what does the
Military
and the
Stater Brothers
have in common,
that I would want to thank them in one Post?
My grandson.
On
Memorial Day,
my grandson
and I were jumping on the trampoline in my backyard.
Well,
I was sitting,
he was jumping.
When we saw two
Marine Gunship Helicopters
flying over the mountain ridge.
I am not a good judge of distances,
when it comes to airplanes,
or helicopters in the sky,
but they had to be close enough to see us on the ground.
I told my grandson to wave to them,
because it was
Memorial Day,
the day to celebrate past
Military Heroes.
He waved vigorously,
like a five year old will do,
lo & behold,
those
Marine Helicopters
turned,
and flew directly over our house,
doing a complete circle,
before heading back in the same direction as before.
Of course,
when they were overhead,
I was so proud,
that I started waving just as vigorously as my grandson.
Thank you
Twenty-Nine Palms & Camp Pendleton Marines Corp
for once again being true
American Heroes.

About three
or four weeks ago,
just before the new
Avengers
movie came out,
Pepsi
set up a display at
Stater Brothers Market
in
Temecula, California
featuring cardboard cutouts of
Iron Man,
Thor,
Captain America,
and my favorite,
The Hulk.
I immediately went to customer service
and asked if I could have the display after the promotion was over.
The
Assistant Manager
agreed,
taking my name
and phone number.
Last
Tuesday
I got the call to pick up my
Super Heroes.
Not as
Super
as the
Marines,
but still
Super Cool
for my grandson.
This week has really been a treat for my grandson
and myself.
Image result for stater brothers
Thank you to
Stater Brothers
and the
Marines Corp.

I'm coming out of the closet here,
but,
I was way ahead of the curve when computers came out.
I took typing in
High School
in anticipation.
I've been a
Whovian
since 1975.
I listen to
Trock
music.
I went to
Rocky Horror Picture Show
in 1976.
I always read
Sci-Fi.
I wore a
Bow Tie
in the
Nineteen-Eighties.
I still buy
Graphic Novels,
but not as often as I like.
I watch
Anime.
I love to go to the
Block Buster Super Hero Movies.
And I love that I can do these things with my
Grandson.
Yes,
I am a
Geeky Nerd!
The only problem is,
I have twelve
Grandchildren,
but only one who lives near me.
I wish I could do these things with all of them!
Even my
Grandchildren
in the
Philippines.
I love you
Grand-Dudes & Grand-Dudettes!

Back In The Dark Ages

Back in the Dark Ages of 1992, radio astronomers Aleksander Wolszczan and Dale Frail announced the discovery of two planets orbiting the pulsar PSR 1257+12.
At the time, our civilization thought it was a momentous occasion. We knew there were other worlds in the galaxy. We have been discovering them since 1988.
But this, was a real breakthrough in astronomy.
Of course, nobody imagined a planet could survive, in the sense of staying intact, around such a destructive celestial object.
A pulsar is actually a rapidly rotating neutron star. And these stars emit regular pulses of radio waves and other electromagnetic radiation, at a rate of up to one thousand pulses per second. We now set our atomic clocks to them when we are away from the planet Earth.
Scientists back then, thought nothing could survive the bombardment of this kind of intense radiation. But, there they were. Two rocky worlds, orbiting a neutron star. Bathing in radiation and cooking like meatballs in your kitchen's microwave.

Then, for the next sixty-five years, the race was on to find life on another planet.
Which human beings still thought like neanderthals, as far as their imagination goes.
If the discovery of the first two planets orbiting a neutron star taught us anything, is that what we think we know, is actually that, we know nothing.
Scientist were looking for planets around yellow stars, before realizing there were more red stars in the galaxy. When a pulsar showed us that planets can orbit almost any celestial body, scientists finally opened their collective eyes, and started searching around any object that glowed in the dark skies.
They found out, in the pursuing decades, that almost every kind of star has planets. From gas giants, to rocky worlds, to ice planets made up of different kinds of frozen gases.
We now call those frozen worlds oases. Gas stations to fuel our space craft, as we try to traverse the galaxy.
Once we got out, into deep space, farther than our own solar system, we found that planets were full of life. And not just in the "Goldilocks Zone."
The Sagan telescope, on a fixed orbit around Pluto, was the first to find life. On an icy world, orbiting Alpha Centauri A, scientist thought that the constant evolution of its changing surface was due to either ice volcanoes or an ocean of water below the crust. As it turns out, the best way to describe its life, would be, like comparing a house infested by termites. Always boring and eating their way from one end of the planet to the other.
After that, scientist once again opened their eyes to the possibility, that when they make assumptions, like thinking that the Universe acts as we know how life started here on Earth, that they are dotting old fools with no imagination.
It was first discovered, that almost all type of Stars, have planets. Now it has been discovered that almost every solar system has some type of life. The next big quest is to find intelligent life out their in the Universe.
Yet, I still have my doubts that we will be able to recognize it right away. Unless, of course, intelligent life pops its beautiful head up to us and says hello.

The Third Best Post Of October Is:
Remembering AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!Which is actually a reprint of my original Post from June 25th, 2015, called, AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
