Billions & Billions
“We are star stuff harvesting sunlight.”
“I worry that, especially as the Millennium edges nearer, pseudoscience and superstition will seem year by year more tempting. The siren song of unreason more sonorous and attractive. Where have we heard it before? Whenever our ethnic or national prejudices are aroused, in times of scarcity, during challenges to national self-esteem or nerve, when we agonize about our diminished cosmic place and purpose, or when fanaticism is bubbling up around us - then, habits of thought familiar from ages past reach for the controls.”
"Science is based on experiment, on a willingness to challenge old dogma, on an openness to see the universe as it really is."
“In the way that skepticism is sometimes applied to issues of public concern, there is a tendency to belittle, to condescend, to ignore the fact that, deluded or not, supporters of superstition and pseudoscience are human beings with real feelings, who, like the skeptics, are trying to figure out how the world works and what our role in it might be. Their motives are in many cases consonant with science. If their culture has not given them all the tools they need to pursue this great quest, let us temper our criticism with kindness.”
“National boundaries are not evident when we view the Earth from space.”
“I don't think science is hard to teach because humans aren't ready for it, or because it arose only through a fluke, or because, by and large, we don't have the brainpower to grapple with it. Instead, the enormous zest for science that I see in first-graders and the lesson from the remnant hunter-gatherers both speak eloquently: A proclivity for science is embedded deeply within us, in all times, places, and cultures. It has been the means for our survival. It is our birthright. When, through indifference, inattention, incompetence, or fear of skepticism, we discourage children from science, we are disenfranchising them, taking from them the tools needed to manage their future.”
“Every aspect of Nature reveals a deep mystery and touches our sense of wonder and awe.”
“Arguments from authority carry little weight – authorities have made mistakes in the past. They will do so again in the future. Perhaps a better way to say it is that in science there are no authorities; at most, there are experts.”
"Gullibility kills."
"Every now and then, I'm lucky enough to teach a kindergarten or first-grade class. Many of these children are natural-born scientists - although heavy on the wonder side, and light on skepticism. They're curious, intellectually vigorous. Provocative and insightful questions bubble out of them. They exhibit enormous enthusiasm. I'm asked follow-up questions. They've never heard of the notion of a 'dumb question'."
“Science is not only compatible with spirituality; it is a profound source of spirituality.”
"Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence."
“Who is more humble? The scientist who looks at the universe with an open mind and accepts whatever the universe has to teach us, or somebody who says everything in this book must be considered the literal truth and never mind the fallibility of all the human beings involved?” “I don't want to believe. I want to know.”
“The beauty of a living thing is not the atoms that go into it, but the way those atoms are put together.”
“I believe our future depends on how well we know this Cosmos in which we float, like a mote of dust, in the morning sky.”
“If we long for our planet to be important, there is something we can do about it. We make our world significant by the courage of our questions and by the depth of our answers.”

Ghost Apps
Well,if flying saucers going around your head is not bothering you,as myPostyesterday might have assumed,I have the best next thing explaining all those little puffs of smoke you see in the air in front of your eyes! After its heyday, during the last decade, where have all theGhostsgone? There at your house! Now you too can become aParanormal Investigator.
TheseAppsare for theiPhone, but I'm sureAndroidhas plenty of examples you can also choose from. This story is by Matt CrowleyforThe Daily Dot. Ghost Locator by Sebastien Mougey Of all the apps I tested, Ghost Locator is far from the most impressive, but it may be my favorite. Simply press the “on/off” switch, and within seconds, a ghost will appear on the radar screen along with some pertinent details. You can click on the phantom for more information—Heath, for example, is 237 years old, died in 1801 at the age of 24 from drowning, and currently weighs 0 pounds (all the ghosts weigh 0 pounds, as the app informed me each time).
Ghost Recorder by MEDL Mobile, Inc.If you’re desperate to hear ghoulies in your area but don’t want to pay a premium, check out Ghost Recorder, which “uses special technology to pick up the supernatural ghost noises that are beyond the realm of the human ear.” Unfortunately, the app doesn’t allow you to download your recordings, but it confirmed Ghost Observer’s findings: I heard a feedback noise, wheezing laughter and, for some reason, a creaking door, at St. Marks, the House of Death, my apartment, my office, on the subway, and at a Taco Bell in Queens. Spooky stuff.
Ghost Hunter M2 by Michael WeberThe Cadillac of Ghost Hunting equipment, Ghost Hunter M2 costs a dollar but comes with everything you could want: audio and video analyzers, a geoscope, a special camera, and a whole slew of sensors. On the negative side, there’s so much to sift through that it can be overwhelming, and the user interface is rather dull—each section only offers an on/off button, without any switches to flip or dials to tune. Despite these flaws, though, Ghost Hunter M2 is the most thorough and in-depth app on the market—truly putting the “science” in pseudoscience.
These are just three, out of tenApps, thatMatt Crowleychecked out. So,try to find the one that best fits you,and send me all theGhost Picturesyou collect!

Call MUFON Before Being Probed
I often hear people ask,"TwoBuck, what can I do about all these flying saucers circling around my head?"Well, the first thing I would say is,"If they are a little over 12 centimeters from your brain, stop drinking! But, if they are farther up in the sky, flying above your house or yard, I would call MUFON!"Which is an acronym for theMutual UFO Network.A personal opinion first. In 1969,when they were established, somebody was lazy about naming their organization. The name doesn't sound serious enough to me.With that aside,if you are still seeingUnidentified Flying Objectsin the sky,on the ground,or in the water, before they get the probes out,you need to contactMUFONright away!
They have stuff like,a link toReport a UFO.You canSupport Their Research.Talk to anExperiencer Research Teammember. Subscribe to their monthlyMUFON Journal.Or,you can get yourself someFREEcool tools. That you can use to help spur your curiosityand researchUFOson your own.The link is MUFON Tools.Come on.We all know they are out there. And maybe you will be the one who finally gets that up closeand personal snapshot of a real liveAlien!

The Man From Mars - Episode Forty Six
I did not know this about Tiny.
Here was a man, I mean Atlantian, who has killed one of his own kind, and I don't know how many humans, and he is showing concern for innocent lives?
Don't get me wrong. I don't think I could have lived with myself if I was the cause of innocent lives dying. It just seems a little strange to me, that this alien, trained to protect Ponleak, the leader of these powerful aliens, and protect the amulet at all cost.
I didn't think he had a thread of sympathy in his whole body. I don't believe, I ever seen him smile?
Tiny says to me, "That was close. We need to talk."
"I agree," I answered.
He looks to the pilot and says, "I am going to have a little talk, with our friend here, in the back of the jet. Take us to Iceland using defensive strategy Genesis Delta Six."
"Yes sir," replies the pilot.
Then Tiny gives me a shove out of the cockpit.
"Hey," I say to him. "I am getting tired of being pushed around."
Tiny looks at me angrily and says, "Are you threatening me?"
"No, no," I reply.
"Because if you are, I know I can rip your head off before you have time to whistle Dixie with the amulet."
"No, no." I repeat myself. "I have no intention of harming anyone, ever again."
Then, contemplating more on what he said, I asked, "Whistle Dixie with the amulet?"
"Good," Tiny said. Bypassing my last question.. "Because I also know, that you do not know, how use the amulet properly yet. So far, you have been very lucky in the limited times you have used it. But I feel, and no one listens to the bodyguard, that you were the wrong choice as the amulets new owner. You are too emotional, you fight within yourself about ethics, and morality concerning the amulets power. Maybe, if Ponleak would have had the time to train you properly, you might have become an honorable man."
"I'm confused," I interrupted. "You do not believe in me?"
"I believe the amulet is a powerful weapon." Tiny explains to me. "It was used to destroy our world. The world you call Mars."
Tiny looks extremely sad while pausing for a moment, reflecting, then adds. "I know Ponleak didn't mean to use the amulet against our home-world. It was in a fit of rage, as we were leaving the planet. The leaders of Atlantis started broadcasting the sounds of cries of Atlantian men, women, and children being executed. They were killing anyone who was left behind, anyone who had ever worked for Ponleak, and they were killing the extended families of these Atlantians. Wiping out the whole family lineage of a person who might have cleaned the floors for Ponleak at one time. Even if they no longer worked for him."
"They were genociding whole families because of their association with Ponleak?" I asked incredulously. Even though I knew the answer.
"Yes," Tiny says. "The leaders said they would stop if we brought back the amulet and gave it to them."
"Did Ponleak refuse?"
"No," Tiny tells me. "He tried to explain to the leaders that it was a one way flight off of Atlantis. He never had plans on returning, so he never had the ship equipped with rockets which would turn the ship around. But they refused to believe him."
"So what did he do?" I asked, a little scared.
Tiny looks up in the air, not seeing the inside of the jet aircraft, but looking back at a time, that once was.
"Atlantis had oceans. We had vegetation. We had animals. It was beautiful at one time." Tiny says with tears in his eyes.
"What did he do?" I asked again.
"Ponleak did not mean to do it. He overreacted."
"What did he do?" I asked, on the verge of shouting.
"He stopped the planet's core from moving!"

Opioids In Our Mussels?
Mussels from Puget Sound test positive for opioids, other drugs!By Susan Scutti, for CNNon MSN.com/health Shellfish in the Puget Sound, an inlet of the Pacific Ocean along the northwest coast of Washington, tested positive for the prescription opioid oxycodone. But that wasn't all, according to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife biologist Jennifer Lanksbury. In the midst of a national opioid crisis, the opioid may be the most attention-grabbing contaminant found, but it could be the least worrisome. The mussels also contained four kinds of synthetic surfactants -- the chemicals found in detergents and cleaning products -- seven kinds of antibiotics, five types of antidepressants, more than one antidiabetic drug and one chemotherapy agent. Surfactants, in particular, are "known to have estrogenic effect on organisms, so they affect the hormone system of some animals in an estrogenic way, such as feminizing male fish and making female fish reproductive before they're ready," Lanksbury explained. Scientists have not studied whether mussels are harmed by oxycodone. However, the presence of this drug in the mollusk speaks to the high number of people in the urban areas surrounding the Puget Sound who take this medication, said Lanksbury.
