Where to From Here?

Which story do I tell tonight?
I have the pleasure and the privilege to write what I love. At moments, this strikes me and the full magnitude of it is...unbelievable. It steals your breath and makes your heart feel fuller and yet unreal. How is it possible? I'm lucky enough to have moments I still yearn for, moments I'm stretching toward like a plant reaches for the sun (though, hopefully I'm more well taken care of than those plants I'm holding captive in the window) and I hope that I keep on...

Dare to Be Bold

I hope that whatever you do in life, you're never afraid to be bold. Sometimes quiet and watchful, but never afraid to act in a way that's not "normal." Don't be normal. Be abnormal. Be completely bonkers. And no, despite that last comment, I'm not encouraging you to be a deranged crazy person. Just...sit with your elbows on the table now and then. Walk barefoot outside sometimes. Don't be afraid to do something you want to do, just because. Not everything needs a reason. Sometimes, you just...

Dancing in the Wind

Writer's block, thou art a bitch.
The worst part is, this isn't even writer's block. This is...hesitancy. And it's not fun, I can tell you that dang much.
Remember the little superstitions people used to tell you? Like that one when you were little, if you turned your pajamas inside out, it would make it snow? Or those ones that linger, like knocking on wood so the bad luck won't come after you. What do we do for this? And no, I don't want to be drunk for the rest of my life like a lot of writ...

Practical Lunatics

Mom, Dad, when I grow up, I’m going to sell my daydreams about trolls and hobgoblins for a living.
Okay, so that’s not quite how it went.
I was far too practical when I was four to think about being a writer. And when I was fifteen, I knew this was where I was heading, but I had all sorts of safety jobs set up to make monies on the side, to, you know, eat while I did what I loved.
So what in the hell happened?
I really don’t know. I still like to think of myself as that practical girl who has he...

Manor of Sweet Souls (Excerpt)

Picture

As you all know, I fellin love with Gladys a long time ago and I've been working on her ever since. This is my free short story about my kickass troll. (Gaveyou a little excerpt here)
Tell me what you think!

Manor of Sweet Souls

“Glad—?”
“Gladys, my name is Gladys.” I grit my teeth, knowing I shouldn’t give him the satisfaction. He knows I’m on the list.
“Gladys. Here you are.” He pulls back a little cord, lifting the wall of a very complicated circle, and frowns at me. Or, Kyo.
“I’m afraid we don...

Happy Father's Day!

I know quite a few people who've lost their fathers and I know that today is like rubbing salt in a wound that will never quite heal. It breaks my heart for them that they have to go through this. And today I want to send out a hug to them, because that's what fathers are all about--providing and taking care of their loved ones and making sure that they never have to want for anything. And I know today, that so many father's are more worried about their children, than they are about themselve...

Morning! Thou Art Here!

Morning, peeps!
Dishes are washed, hands are pruny, I’ve decided on what’s wrong with the morning traffic woman’s dress and now it’s time to go hide before something else can find me. Clothes washing, you are a task for another day, so stay back! Back I say!
So now you’re thinking, what is this wild and crazy woman up to today? Hah! Wouldn’t you like to know? So would I. I haven’t decided yet, how I’ll attack this day. Grab it in a neck hold. Sneak up behind it and tackle it. Grab a pillow and...

Enjoy Your Saturday!

Hello, lovelies!
I hope you're enjoying your lovely weekend. Maybe listening to some holiday music on loop. It looks like the sun has deemed it fit to finally step from behind that clouds and grace us with some rays. I certainly appreciate it. Wasn't at all in the mood for the gray Victorian setting of a winter bare landscape and the whole it's-not-raining-but-it-might-soon mystery.
So many things to do today. My plan is to go ahead and hide away from the day, burrow down in a puddle of sunshin...
