Dishy Eyes

Dear Reader,
I hope this post finds you happy and healthy and filled with good cheer.
It's chilly, but sunshiny here--the type where you're happy to take the puppy out, but find yourself searching for a warm patch of sunlight and a tree to brace against to cut the cold.
Things here are--well, not going especially well, but they're moving and in a positive direction which I'm appreciating. I have a friend in management and she's really generous about sharing any articles with me that she finds...

Hamburger? Maybe.

Dear Reader,
I hope you're feeling fit and healthy and all is going well. We don't really have sunshine here as much as an overcast not-quite rain, so if you have our sunlight, I hope you're enjoying it! But our weather was dry enough to do some tinkering around in the yard earlier, which I enjoyed.

Right now our house is filled with the smell of the hamburger I'm cooking and I'm salivating over the idea of Worcestershire sauce and mushrooms and hamburger, though not necessarily this hamburger....

Don't Wanna, But I Gotta

Dear Reader,
I hope you're having a wonderful Saturday! I can't seem to find my get-up-and-go, myself. I've got work to be done, goodness to read, and yet, I'm just sitting here stewing. Help!
Despite my lack of umph, I've got some books that I highly recommend: Rachel Caine's Bitter Falls and Faith Hunter's Shattered Bonds . Though, try to read the rest of the series first. Before you start them, consider yourself warned--these books are addictive as hell.
Also, my friend is publishing her debut...

Hello Again

Dear Reader,
How have you been since we last spoke? I hope all has been well.
This isn’t the only correspondence I’ve been neglecting as of late, though a part of me wonders if I should ever take the other back up. That one was a bi-weekly/monthly email to a friend that I hold very dear. Two years ago, I wrote her as I’d been doing for years—and she reintroduced herself to me. She kindly explained her life and who she was, and asked if I was sure I didn’t have the wrong person.
She was exactly...

I sense a Sticky on My Forehead

There's a question I must ask.
How do you keep organized?
I only ask this, because, I'm well, not. I could lie and shove a "but" in there, but at this point, who would believe me?
To be honest, I'm not sure how I would take notes. Actually, I need to take notes on how to take and organize notes. I keep saying, start small, but did you know that small shit keeps coming? Take dishes, for instance. I wash them, I get it all clean and then I'm done and I need a glass of water or to fork a pickle--bo...

Did You Know There's A Dictionary?

I'm serious. There's this big book of words called a dictionary. And it's way more useful than I knew it could be. Terms of address, places, foreign phrases, punctuation. Am I the only one who didn't know this book was so cool? The only thing I remember is asking my teacher how to spell something, and she would tell me to look it up, and I thought that was the dumbest idea in the world. How in the hell do I look it up if I don't know how to spell it?
To be honest, I'm not sure I'll ever get th...

Down This Crazy Path We Go

Guys, I've been killing my darlings. No, the puppy's fine, it's the words. Words like "just" and "as if" and all of the little filler words that help me paint a sentence to the screen and bloat my word count with their needlessness. Really, I'm not sure what I'm saying with "just" anymore. I give it no meaning to the sentence rather than as a filler onto the next word. I was having so much fun with this, I looked up two hours later and realized, yeah, I could use a break.
I turned on Columbo...
