Featured - Book Blitz for "Can't Stop Loving You" by Miranda Liasson

Can't Stop Loving You by Miranda Liasson Series: Spikonos Brothers, #1Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publisher:  Montlake RomanceRelease Date: December 6, 2016

When it comes to her heart, Arabella D’Angelo has moved on—even though she still lives in Mirror Lake, Connecticut, a little tourist town with a long memory for mistakes. Ever the dutiful daughter of a cantankerous widower who holds grudges, Bella has spent the past twelve years raising her younger brother and making a name for herself as a successful psychologist. Now, when she isn’t counseling a lonely-hearts club for senior women, she’s humoring her matchmaking girlfriends. Bella resists the romancing of their blind dates, yet her friends hope she’ll fall for a local and scrap plans for a fresh start in Chicago.

Then, just before Bella’s thirtieth birthday, her first love, Roman Spikonos, returns to Mirror Lake. When he moves next door to her family’s garden-center business to run his grandparents’ orchard, it stirs up gossip—and a tempest of passions—just in time for pumpkin harvest. As Roman and Bella once again get caught up in a swirl of desire and heartache, not to mention her overprotective father’s fury, Mirror Lake will soon find out whether the Italian hometown beauty and her unforgettable Greek god can stand a second chance.

Just then, she saw a man walking toward her from across the square. She looked the other way, pretending to be fascinated by a couple of little kids kicking up leaves. Because she’d know that sweeping, confident gait, that straight-as-a-cornstalk carriage, those big, strong shoulders anywhere. And the way her limbs were going weak, the way her heart had catapulted into her stomach like a basketball and her breaths were coming raggedly, her body knew it, too. All that told her that the man striding quickly toward her was no surfer guy. It was Roman.
She glanced up to find him standing there, wearing jeans and a black sweater. Looking like sin, as usual.
“Oh, it’s you,” she said, trying to sound disappointed, but she couldn’t help smiling a little. “I’m expecting my big, burly, blond Swedish date.” When she showed him the photo on her phone, his response was an emphatic grunt.
He sat next to her on the bench, his leg grazing hers unapologetically. He smelled like woodsy cologne and shaving cream, and it was making her giddy. Like he’d just had a shower and was going out for the night. Maybe he was. An image of him on a date with some gorgeous woman floated through her mind. Him laughing and sipping wine with someone and caressing her hand across the table.
She pushed back that image. It made her uncomfortable. Sad. It was only a matter of time before he met someone. He was too good looking, too funny, too chivalrous. Too everything.
His leg touched hers again, but he didn’t say anything, like excuse me or oops. It seemed . . . intentional. Yet he sat there, focused on watching the sun sink over those gorgeous trees, that New England autumn post-card view . . .
She couldn’t take it anymore. She moved away into her own personal space. “Oh, for the love of God, what are you doing here?”
He sat up a little straighter. Eyeballed her in a way that confused her . . . he seemed hesitant, very unlike him, who usually said what he meant and didn’t play games. Finally he spoke. “Your date’s not showing tonight.”
“Oh.” Great. Apparently she was being stood up based on appearance only, since Jess had told her she’d e-mailed him a photo. That was confidence inspiring. And worse was that Roman knew she was being stood up. Not only knew but came bearing the news. Wait a minute . . . She stopped in the middle of gathering up her purse. “How do you know that?”
He leaned forward on the bench, resting his elbows on his legs, tapping his fingers together. “Trust me, he’s not your type.”
“You interfered with my date? How could you? I thought we talked about this.”
Roman sighed heavily. He turned toward her and spoke. “Your date’s not showing because he doesn’t exist.”
Her heart skipped a beat. Or two. “Did you annihilate him?”
“No, I made him up. I gave Jess a stock photo to show you.”
“To play a joke on me?” Why would he do that? Her throat felt lumpy. Through everything, she thought at least they were friends. “That is the lowest—”
He grabbed her by the shoulders. “Bella,” he said and shook her a little. “Look at me.”
She did, through narrowed eyes. When she saw his face, all the fight whooshed right out of her, like a balloon let loose before it’s tied. There was something different about him tonight. A graveness. The way he looked at her was just different, like he was not joking or being sarcastic. In fact, he looked dead serious, those big brown eyes staring right at her, those long, lovely lashes looking sinfully angelic on such a gorgeous hunk of man.
“I did it because I want to be your date for tonight.” She must have still looked confused, because he said, “I knew you’d never agree to it the regular way.”
All Bella’s critical body parts were humming. She was filled with elation, with hope. Maybe it was wine or desperation or the upcoming birthday, she didn’t know. But she had the distinct feeling she was about to do something reckless, and like it. A lot.

Deepti Menon has always believed in the power of the pen. Having done her post graduation in English Literature and her B.Ed. in English, she had the option of teaching and writing, and did both with great enjoyment. She started writing at the age of ten, long before she acquired a Diploma in Journalism. Featured - Review & Spotlight of "Saved by the Firefighter" by Rachel Brimble

PictureAbout the BookGenre: Contemporary romance
Release Date: Nov 1st

How can she forgive him for what he didn't do?
Photographer Izzy Cooper feels as frozen as her pictures. Trent Palmer might be the hottest firefighter in Templeton Cove, but she can never face him again. Not after he failed to save her brother. But when they're forced together by a calendar shoot, the sparks between them are undeniable.
Izzy knows it's not fair to blame Trent for the tragedy, but opening herself up to loss again isn't something she's prepared to do, no matter how determined Trent is to show her that pain is part of life and that love—their love—can make any suffering bearable.

EXTRACT

The security alarm chimed. Someone had stepped inside the studio. Exhaling a heavy breath, Izzy pulled back her shoulders, lifted her head and forced a smile.
“Hi, how can I…” Her heart stopped. Trent Palmer stood just inside the door. “Why are you here?”
His dark green gaze bored relentlessly into hers, his strong jaw set as he reached behind him and shut the door. “I came by to see how you’re doing.”
Traitorous attraction skittered over the surface of her skin before Izzy turned and strode toward the corner she used for staging portrait shots. The fluffy bunnies, huge furry dice and toys she’d used to relax a toddler earlier now felt macabre.
She spun around, clutching a teddy bear. “The same as I was doing yesterday and the day before. I told you I don’t want to see you. I don’t ever want to see you. Why do you keep coming back?”
He came closer, his gaze locked on hers. “You have to talk to me. I was Robbie’s friend. There was nothing—”
“You could do. Fine. I get it, but why do you feel the need to keep coming in here and checking up on me? What do you want me to do? Dance in the street? Kick up my heels at the fairground? God, just leave me alone.”
“There’s a beach party tonight. I want you to come with me.”
She stared. Why him? Why would a man she really liked—a damn firefighter—have to pursue her like she was someone worth pursuing? “No.”
He looked at the equipment covering the desk alongside him. He lifted and replaced a camera, the hunch of his wide shoulders indicating his discomfort. Izzy hated that she drew no satisfaction from that…only sadness.

Picture My ReviewWhen I got the opportunity to review this romance novel, I jumped on it. Not only will I never say no to a fiery hot firefighter (pardon the pun), but I had also heard good things about the author. The cover also appealed to me. I’m glad I gave it a chance, because this story is going to stay with me for quite a while.

I felt for Izzy immediately, pulled into the story with a bang and a few tears. She remained believable and lovable throughout the book. I think if I were in a similar situation, facing such a tragic loss, I would react a lot like her. Closing myself off, masking grief with anger, lashing out at those trying to get through. It doesn’t make it any easier that Trent is a firefighter, although none of it is his fault. I will admit, though, that I sometimes fought the urge to slap some sense into her…

Just when I thought, yes, they’re giving each other the chance they deserve, another tragedy happened. It hit me out of the blue, and it turned the tables. Suddenly, it’s Trent who needs to get his head together and listen to his heart, who needs tender loving care from Izzy and a few kicks in the sexy butt from his buddies. And then again, just when I grew a little less tense and thought we were coasting towards the happy ending, the author nearly made me fall off my chair with yet another tragedy.

I like it that the author didn’t just focus on the romance and sizzling hot chemistry between the energetic and authentic leading pair, but also on their jobs and life. Emotions, thoughts, actions – all seemed so real to me, and I would have happily read another 100 pages or so. There’s quite some angst, some sweetness and lightness with humor strewn in, and some steamy scenes that are anything but gratuitous.

A line from the story stayed with me, summing up the main conflict and solution all at once:
“I want you to change me, Iz. You’ll make me better and I’ll do the same for you.”

Rating: 4/5

3rd Royal Romance Novel up for Pre-Order!

Picture
On October 29th, the 2nd book in my royal romance series released. In case you've missed 'The Prince's Stubborn Bride', you can find out more here. Book 1 can be found here.
I'm currently writing the last chapters of the 3rd book, and it's again huge fun. Dashing Prince Erik from the North already made an appearance in Book 2, and similarly you'll meet Prince Sebastian and Prince Christian from the previous novels again in this one.
Click here for the pre-order links for 'The Prince's Surprise Bride'. Release day is January 29th, but if you order now, you can enjoy an early-bird discount.
Read on for an exclusive first excerpt! Sneak Peek Before she had the chance to worry, Erik had finished exchanging a few words with the Queen, who gave him a nod. In quick, large strides, he moved towards Jessica, and the crowd parts to let the prince through. It was probably the first time he had left his place, and conversation around them gradually died down. People turned to see what the fuss was all about, and she felt her pulse trip.
Frozen in place with apprehension, feeling a flush creep up her body, Jessica waited for Erik to approach. He came close and sketched a bow, which drew a few gasps around them. Refusing to play the demure damsel, Jessica smiled at him.
Just imagine he’s the only one here, she told herself silently, again and again.
Erik reached out to take her hand and pressed a chaste kiss to it.
He drew closer than decorum allowed it, saying softly just for her ears, “You look absolutely stunning, Miss Kaiser. Easily the most beautiful woman in the ballroom. I’d bet a crown jewel that a lot of men envy me right now.”
Something inside her loosened at his words, at the teasing tone and the fire in his gaze. “And I’d bet your whole royal fortune that even more women envy me right now.”
His eyes sparkled, reminding her of the sapphires he and his family were wearing. He finally let go of her hand, his fingers brushing hers lightly and longingly.
“Are you alright, Jessica?” he asked in an even lower tone.
They were standing so close that she could smell him, cologne and fresh linen, and a hint of the woodsy outdoors and cold, glacial streams. Oh, how she wanted to glide her fingers over his jacket lapels and find out how the textured material felt. But she was certain even standing so close to him and having him address her was already breaking a dozen protocols.
“Yes, I think I am…now that you’re by my side.”
