Sunday Inspiration: Gratefulness

Gratefulness

Gratefulness is the only appropriate response to that which is given…and this life is a given. Every human being can realize: we didn’t make ourselves, we didn’t even choose this life. If you train yourself to be grateful for everything, every moment, then when you come to something that you don’t like, you realize it’s still given and you have to deal with it.

Life As A Lemonade Stand

While I’m traveling in November, I’m happily sharing some of my favorite blogs from 2009. In the years after I wrote this, our family bought a little cottage in Chautauqua and now spend our summers there. We’re still close to the family in this blog and love spending time with them.

Sunday Inspiration: Family means showing up

family means showing up“Family” isn’t defined only by last names or by blood; it’s defined by commitment and love.

It means showing up when they need it most.

It means having each others backs.

It means choosing to love each other even on those days when you struggle to even like each other.

It means never giving up on each other!

Sunday Inspiration: “A thing may be too sad…”

a thing may be too sad “A thing may be too sad to be believed or too wicked to be believed or too good to be believed; but it cannot be too absurd to be believed in this planet of frogs and elephants, of crocodiles and cuttle-fish.” ~ G.K. Chesterton

Diversity, Our Greatest Strength

DiversityI’m traveling for most of the month of November, and I’ll be sharing some of my blogs from 2009-2010 with you while I’m gone. I’ve loved going back to find those I loved most.

I looked for a Halloween post for today, but this one, from early 2010 appealed to me instead.

Sunday Inspiration: A really scary thing

a really scary thingSince it’s almost Halloween when ghosts and goblins are filling the air and dreams turn into nightmares, let’s reflect on really scary things, like… love.

“Love is a really scary thing, and you never know what’s going to happen. It’s one of the most beautiful things in life, but it’s one of the most terrifying.

Reading Challenge: Meet Janet Friesner, a Read Along Star

A Read Along With Star Did you miss me last week?

I’m at the very end of A Family of Strangers, which is due at my publisher’s in just a bit more than a week. So I’ve been extra busy. On top of that? The day after my book is due, I’m heading to Europe and even a bit of Africa to places I’ve never been.

Sunday Inspiration: A Star is Born

A star is born “Look, talent comes everywhere, but having something to say and a way to say it so that people listen to it, that’s a whole other bag. And unless you get out and you try to do it, you’ll never know. That’s just the truth. And there’s one reason we’re supposed to be here is to say something so people want to hear.
