Hello everyone. I hope you all are having a great weekend. I’m sorry I was here last weekend. My father-in-law has Alzheimer’s and hasn’t been doing well, I’ll probably be in and out for the next few weeks/months. Thank you for stopping by my post on the Snippet Sunday blog hop. Today, I’m sharing from my current work in progress, which is untitled at the moment, but I can tell you that it is book 3 of my Supernaturals series. Malicious and vindictive, Gabriel was a liar. Izzy had caught him in many lies, but whenever she tried to tell their mother he was lying, Shelly always brushed her aside and let it go. Hugo, the Greenblat Great Dane, was as gentle as a kitten and as big as a small horse. Some of the neighbor kids called him Huge-O due to his size. Izzy had always loved dogs because they never lied, were always loyal and faithful.
She thought life was perfect. She soon learned a perfect life was just an illusion. All made up of smoke and mirrors. Reality shattered her happy existence.
The lie that destroyed Izzy’s ten-year-old world came when her parents announced they were ending their relationship, but not by divorce. They had never married.
Her brothers accepted it. She couldn’t. She was devastated that two people she should have been able to trust, had lied to her throughout her life. She had too many questions. What did it mean? How would they be treated? Did this mean she and her brothers were bastards? Her biggest question was if her parents were splitting, would one of them take Gabriel with them? The questions kept coming with no one answering them.
Izzy decided then she would never trust anyone but Michael again.
Laura Ranger is a natural storyteller. She has been turning all of life into stories since she was young. This mother of one, grandmother of three began writing her fictitious stories down to the delight of her family and friends. She’s been writing her tales for over twenty years. She became a published author when she put one of her short stories in a Christmas anthology in support of feeding children around the world, entitled Eight ‘Til Christmas. I'm sorry I was a bit absent last week. We received more bad news about my father-in-law, so I wasn't inspired to do much. #WIP IT WEDNESDAY Excerpt from Outcast, Supernaturals Book 2, a Paranormal Romance

This week I’m continuing from my now New Release, Outcast, Supernaturals Book 2, a paranormal romance. This scene is a continuation from the last. We are still in the chapel, and some of the guests aren’t happy that Leigh will be sticking around for photos.

“Mrs. Carmichael…” Martin started to say, though his eyes followed Leigh and me.
“My name is Danielle, and before you say a word, Martin, I have a question for you.”
“And that is?” He bristled at her informal use of his name.
“Are you immediate family?”
“No. I…”
“Are you part of the wedding party?”
“No. I…”
“Then I will have to ask you to leave. I will see you and the rest of our guests in a few minutes out in the gardens.”
When he didn’t make a move to leave, she leaned close to him and said so low that I know Leigh couldn’t hear, “I’ve given into all of your demands, but I’m getting sick of you. If you would like for my husband and I to stay with the pack, you had better back off. Everyone else here can deny her all they want. I will not. She’s my sister, and she’ll be in my wedding photos. She has told me that after this weekend, she is done with our family for good, so you will let me have this or we will find another pack.”
Martin jerked as if she had smacked him, but he nodded. I could tell the news about Leigh not returning pleased him.
Leigh’s parents tried to look stoic at Danielle’s revelation about Leigh’s decision, but I could feel the sorrow and regret rolling off them. Leigh continued to look at her hands, at the stage, and not at the drama playing out behind us. I could feel the fear and defeat emanating from her. I couldn’t comfort her the way she needed, the way I yearned to do. My touching her the way I was had garnered some curious and unhappy stares from the rest of the pack still in the room who weren’t watching Danielle and Martin. I didn’t care what they thought, but I needed to make a better effort of controlling my emotions until I was away from the pack. They needed to think I was simply trying to be a good friend to Danielle and Dave. My attraction to Leigh, desire for her, could put her in danger.
