She reached up and pulled his head to her, kissing his lips softly, like a whisper. It would have been an understatement to say the earth moved. It was more like it opened up and swallowed them into a whole new place that made the compass change. Everything she thought was up was down and down was up.
“I’ve wanted to do that since I saw you that day at the airport.” Beau sounded unguarded, like a child discovering something new.
Warmth rushed through her.
Beau leaned in, kissing her again.
She kissed him back. This time it was . . . passion. It was wonderful and painful and she never wanted it to stop.
Beau pulled back and inhaled quickly. “I can’t marry you.”
“What?” Sara pulled away so quickly she almost fell over.
He reached out to support her.
“I didn’t want this to happen.” He seemed to be looking for something in her face. “I have a past, Sara.”
“Why are you talking about marrying me?” Suddenly, Jonathon’s face flooded her mind. She pulled her hands to her mouth, feeling instant shame. “Ohmygosh, he’s coming home in three days and I haven’t even told him about anything.”
Beau stood there, frozen.
The way he looked at her coupled with what he’d blurted out, made her curious. “And,” she said, holding up a hand. “What do you mean, you can’t marry me?” Confusion burned through her mind. “Why would you say that?”
Beau laughed. “This is incredible.” He shook his head. “I don’t know what I’m doing. I’m completely wrong for you. One hundred percent wrong.”
Nervous angst fell through her. “Why?” she blurted out.
Beau’s smile fell from his face, and he stepped to her, gripping her arm tightly and pulling her close to him. His face hardened. “I don’t know, Sara. Why don’t you tell me?”
She felt paralyzed by the thoughts racing through her mind.
Beau let her go and turned, running his hand over the stubble on his face. “Come on,” he said it sharply, like he was talking to a child. He reached for her hand.
“Don’t talk to me that way.” She took off for the fence, hiking over it quickly.
He was beside her. “I’m sorry.” They walked in silence until the house came into view.
They got to the edge of her yard and stood there for a few moments.
She didn’t want to face everyone in her house, yet.
But, it seemed neither of them knew what to say.
Finally Beau turned to face her. “Let me be a friend to you right now. Let’s forget about everything else, and I’ll just be here for you.” His voice was unguarded and sincere.
She looked at him, trying to analyze his motives. “Why?”
He pursed his lips together then let out a sigh. “Because I know what it feels like to face death alone.”
There it was. Beau had a way of getting straight to the heart of the matter. He held out his hand.
She looked at it with uncertainty, knowing if she took it she would be giving more than she could, but wanting a friend and sensing that he needed a friend, too.
She took his hand and they walked into the house that way.

Excerpt:
Kelly found the rush of diving indescribable. Trent took them down a couple times with him, and then he let them go on their own. Of course, they were connected to an oxygen tank, and it wasn’t that deep. It was so cool to be underwater and look around.
“You don’t want to go anywhere without a partner,” Trent had cautioned them. “Sometimes you can get disoriented, and your partner will save your life.”
Hand in hand, Kelly and Chance went over every nook and cranny. There was a little cave in this area, and she waved Chance forward. He shone his water flashlight on the walls, and they inspected the hieroglyphs engraved into the cave face. She wondered if this area of the caves had been out in the open a long time ago. Since her phone was waterproof, she took pictures of all the symbols. They found matches for the cross and the skull, and there were other carvings as well—bird carvings that she hadn’t seen before, as well as different versions of the cross and skull. Maybe they could somehow date them and figure out how long the symbols had been there.
There was something else that she couldn’t recognize at first. After staring at it for a minute, she realized it looked like a rose. She snapped a picture of it.
Chance took her to another area of the cave, where she snapped pictures of swords and what looked like some kind of face. She stooped low, and Chance had to come with her as she found something else. It looked like a heart, but it was broken and there was an L and a D in it. Had the Stones’ parents engraved it, or was it older?
Everything fascinated her, and she was startled when Trent started yanking on the ropes. They went up, and he asked them how they were doing as he helped them take off the gear.
“I’m great.” She felt exhilarated and happy and like she finally had a purpose in her life. Then she remembered that she was pregnant with Brian’s baby. No. Her baby.
Chance paused in taking off his gear, seeming to notice her change of mood. “What’s wrong?”
She didn’t want to tell him what she was thinking. “Nothing. This has been the best.” She smiled at Trent and then made a joke about the broken heart they’d found at the bottom.
Trent’s face lit up. “We have a story about L and D. They were lost lovers, and maybe when D found her, she was already dead, and he wrote their initials at the bottom to commemorate her.”
“Is that true?” That sounded horrible.
Chance laughed. “It can’t be true.”
“I think my sister Kensi wrote a story about it,” Trent said. “You should ask her.”
“Kensi writes stories?”
Trent puffed his chest out proudly. “She writes all kinds of stories and has started publishing them online. She writes under the name Kensi Stone, and she has a whole bunch of stories about me and my family. Of course, she’s changed our names. I’ve read them, and she’s talented.”
Kelly was finding out a lot about the Stone family today. She didn’t remember reading anything about Kensi being a writer.
Trent looked around, seeming disappointed. “I don’t think we found anything. That’s a bummer. I guess I’m used to it by now, but it’s still hard.”
Suddenly, the tide seemed to shift and all the water in the cave started moving.
“What’s going on?” Kelly asked, clinging to Chance.
Trent hurried to toss some of his scuba gear farther up on the shore. “Honestly, I don’t know. It seems like the tide changed, or something happened. I’ve never seen this before.”
The water churned faster and faster, and some of Trent’s scuba gear started going with it. He dove down to try to retrieve it.
Kelly wasn’t sure how long the water drained; maybe five or ten minutes. It settled down over time, but she was worried about Trent.
Luckily, he reemerged, and he was laughing. “I can’t believe it. There’s a whole intricate system of caves down here that I’ve never seen. When the tide took all of that water, some of the dirt moved with it, like it was sucked out. Let’s put on our gear and check it out.”
* * *
Chance and Kelly put their gear back on. Then they waded out into the water and dove down. Trent had them all hold hands, and he guided them toward a cave that Chance hadn’t seen only minutes before. How strange that the seas would change so suddenly. It felt like something else was in control of all this.
Maybe God’s hand?
He wondered what Kelly would think of that. He still was reeling from their conversation the night before. She’d said she wasn’t sure if she would keep the baby, and then her mind had changed overnight. Would he want to be part of her life, even if she had a baby?
Of course.
He was startled by how quickly the answer came to him.
If she wanted him around.
Trent was gesturing around the cave. They couldn’t hear what he was saying, but he seemed emphatic about this place.
They all started exploring. In the corner was a chest. It wasn’t clear until Chance ran his hand across the top and felt the metal. Trent signaled for them to pick it up and take it. Chance tugged at it, but it was heavy. With some heaving, they managed to carry the chest back, and he was grateful for his flippers propelling him onward.
Chance kept his eye on Kelly as she tagged along with them.
When they got back to their base camp, he and Trent lobbed the chest to the top.
Trent ripped his mouth guard out and said, “I can’t believe this. I seriously can’t believe this.”
They all scrambled to get up on the side and took their scuba gear off.
The chest was locked, and Trent messed with the combination. It wasn’t ancient, probably manufactured in the eighties. “We’ll have to take this back and just smash it or cut it or blowtorch it.”
Trent pulled out his phone and called Trey.
Suddenly, it turned into a family call with all of the siblings.
They tried different combinations. Then Kensi said, “Try Mom and Dad’s anniversary. 10-26-69.”
Trent gave her an incredulous look, but he obeyed.
Amazingly, the lock clicked open.

* * *

Jax mucked out a stall in his grandfather’s barn, heavy metal music playing loudly from his phone in his jacket pocket. He paused, still reeling from the amazing kiss earlier. Tia was all he’d been able to think about the rest of the night—even as he’d taken the flowers back to Grandpa and watched as Martha had accepted them and given Grandpa a kiss on the cheek. It’d been cute.
Cute? Was he really thinking words like that?
How come his seventy-year-old grandfather could attract a lady and he couldn’t? He pretty much could bank on the fact Grandpa wouldn’t be eating alone tonight.
A Rocky IV song was next on his playlist, and he jammed to the music. He moved onto the next stall. It’d been a long, cold year in the women department. Karli’s beautiful face flashed into his mind. She was blond, sun-kissed, and tall. But they’d only dated three months before eloping to Maui. He cursed. He should have realized it’d all been an act.
He thought again about how it’d been a long time since he’d kissed a woman like that. The guys on his team were teasing him that he’d gone all monk or something. He hadn’t wanted to explain to them how hurt he was over Karli. He didn’t need to; they knew. But that kiss earlier had stoked a fire inside of him again.
After he finished with the stalls, he fed Husky and Piper, giving them an extra rubdown with the brush. He had loved working with the horses and doing ranch stuff when he’d been young. That felt like a separate life, because he hadn’t thought about it for a long time.
He moved to his grandfather’s office. There were scattered papers all over the desk, and an old-fashioned phone was attached to the wall. He halted, noting there was a picture of him and his grandpa in the corner of the desk. He picked it up and studied it, noting that he’d been a boy then, maybe eight or nine.
His mother had come then, too. He sucked in a breath and put the picture down, bringing up a wall to block those feelings.
Suddenly, a text from Karli appeared. Thinking about you.
Anger surged inside of him. Over the past couple of days, she’d been sending little texts like this and he’d been ignoring them. It was clear that she and the other guy hadn’t worked out. But c’mon, she’d left him standing on a beach with a preacher and his grandpa waiting. Why would she think he would want to talk to her?
He texted her back. Quit texting me.
She responded instantly, like she was watching for his reply. I’m sorry, Jax. I’m so sorry. I made a mistake and I want to talk to you.
How many times had he longed for her to say those words to him? Not that he ever saw Karli. Honestly, they’d never even run into each other. It wasn’t that hard for him to eliminate people from his life. He’d moved so much, he had a knack for it. It was just eliminating them from his heart that he found harder to do.
Through the window of the office, he saw an old punching bag and lifting equipment. Well, well, well. He hadn’t remembered a workout room. He strode out and turned on the light that was hanging from the ceiling. The room was half a barn and half cement floor. It was cold, probably twenty degrees, but he didn’t care.
He took off his gloves and coat and started up the heater in the corner. He took his phone out of his pocket and went to his workout playlist. “Hearts on Fire” blared out. He focused on the bag. This was what he needed—to hit something.
Jax leaped into a roundhouse kick. Jujitsu, tai chi, and boxing were all part of his training, and it felt so good. He began his routine of punching and kicking that he’d done several times a week for years. It calmed him.
The girl’s face popped into his mind again. Not Karli this time—Tia.
He liked the name. He wouldn’t have liked the name if he hadn’t met the woman associated with it. He liked the pride in the woman’s eyes when she’d told her ex that she was going to the dance with Jax.
Dang, the girl had guts.
He laughed and tugged off his shirt; sweat was already trickling down his back. Yes, he so needed this.
With a pang, he visualized his buddies on the beach in Cabo. Man, how he needed the sunshine. Then he thought about his re-enlistment notice, which he’d gotten last week. It told him that if he wanted to stop being a SEAL, now was the time he to do so.
He punched some more. Of course he would keep being a SEAL. What would he do if he wasn’t a SEAL? His grandpa had mentioned that at one point, he’d wanted to be a rancher. But he’d grown up. He’d chosen a path, and he had nothing else. No home. Only his team. He had to re-enlist.
A twinge in his shoulder made him stop punching, and he grabbed it with his other hand. Dang it. He grimaced against a burst of pain. Even though it’d been two years, sometimes it caught at just the right spot. As he massaged his shoulder, Tim’s face flashed into his mind. His best friend. His teammate. The one he’d lost.
“Are you okay?”
It wasn’t often that someone snuck up on a SEAL. Shock coursed through him, and he jerked around. “Get out!” he snapped, before realizing it was Tia.
“Sorry!” Her eyes widened with fear.

Kensi Stone comes to South Port to take care of the Inn for two weeks and to get away from the drama of her ex husband. Little did she know that a hurricane would hit and Tim Tucker would end up coming to her rescue. The same Tim Tucker she'd been in love with all those years ago. The same Tim Tucker who had broken her heart.
It had been a rough two years for Tim. After losing his wife to cancer, he didn't like the looks of pity that people in the town seemed to give him. He was the sheriff for heaven's sake, not to mention an ex marine; hard was part of his life. But hard gets dissolved quickly when he finds himself in Kensi's presence. The trouble is the woman is still punishing him for the stupid thing he'd said to her all those years ago. The stupid thing was, he'd thought he'd been protecting her.
As the six Stone siblings find a way back to each other, they must learn to let go of what doesn’t matter and cling to the things their parents always wanted for them; family, love, and fun memories on the beach.
Only 99¢ The Stone Family Lighthouse
A man who’s been left at the altar. A woman who doesn’t need any help! Will they give each other a second chance?
From kindle all-star, Taylor Hart! The South Port Beach Series!
Marshall Stone didn't become the kind of helicopter pilot that extracts Delta Force and Navy SEALs by being a wimp. No. He has grit and he demands that same grit in everyone around him. Too bad that getting left at the altar and grounded from flying makes him question himself. But, he's fine. More than fine. Coming back to South Port to help with the Family Inn is easy work until he runs into Kat Dixon. The girl who had once been his best friend, until she’d dashed his heart to pieces ten years ago.
If Katherine Dixon, had learned anything, it was that life wasn’t fair and you had to work like crazy to get what you wanted. After losing her husband the previous year, she’d been running a bakery and deli all on her own. Not to mention raising her nine-year-old son. When her car breaks down and none other than too big for his britches, Marshall, shows up she tells him she doesn’t need his help. She doesn’t want his help. She wouldn’t take his help if she were hanging from a cliff and holding on with one hand.
Good thing—he helps her anyway. When a stalker keeps showing up, leaving strange things for Kat and clues to the Conquistador’s gold fall into their hands, they must make a decision; trust each other or fall for the lies of the past.
As these six Stone siblings find a way back to each other, they must learn to let go of what doesn’t matter and cling to the things their parents always wanted for them--family, love, and fun memories on the beach.
Only 99¢ The Stone Family Haven
A man who has been burned too many times. A woman who’s running from her ex. Will they help each other heal and find a second chance at love?
★★★★★From kindle all-star and USA Today author, Taylor Hart! The South Port Beach Series!
Brooks Stone, FBI superhero, strike that, demoted FBI now … doesn’t want to talk about why he had a mental break a year ago. He doesn’t want to talk about his dead partner. He really doesn’t want to talk about why the tremor in his hand won’t go away. When he agrees to watch the family Inn for two weeks, he finds himself looking forward to the peace of South Port. Too bad he meets a strange woman with eyes that remind him of the ocean and an attitude so bad, she could scare off any lethal assassin, except him of course.
Serenity Rome only knew one thing about life; it was hard. Good thing she could do hard. She’d done hard when her father had left when she was ten. She’d done hard when her mother had been given the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s five years ago. And she’d done even harder when the man she’d married had turned violent and threatened to kill her. Now, as she rus for her life, all she knows is that she has to find the Conquistador’s gold. The gold her family journal proves she had claim to.
When she wakes up on a park bench, and discovers she’s face to face with Brooks Stone, one of the infamous Stone family, she has no idea why he offers to have her stay at his family Inn. She only agrees to it because it gives her an opportunity to learn more about this treasure. Not because the man is gorgeous. No. She could care less about how gorgeous he is or how he seems to see right through her lies, but wants to help her anyway. No, she doesn’t care about any of that.
As these six Stone siblings find a way back to each other, they must learn to let go of what doesn’t matter and cling to the things their parents always wanted for them--family, love, and fun memories on the beach.

A warrior losing his faith. A not quite love from summer’s past. A second chance at love that might soothe the broken parts in both of them.
★★★★★From kindle all-star and USA Today author, Taylor Hart! The South Port Beach Series!
Trent Stone, Navy SEAL, won’t give up his obsession with finding the conquistador gold. He's going to crack the cipher. He doesn’t care if it’s the week of Christmas, he doesn’t care if his siblings think he’s crazy, and he really doesn’t care if his twin thinks he needs to relax. He’s NOT relaxing. Okay, maybe he’ll relax a little bit and go on a date with a girl who interrupts his warrior chanting. Not because she’s beautiful or he discovers she left him a note the day before she moved when they were sixteen. Only because he needs to eat. Having dinner with someone doesn’t mean he's RELAXING, he's not!
Liberty Grey doesn’t want to be in South Port. She doesn’t want to sell the house she inherited from her grandmother and she really doesn’t want to run into the jerk guy who unknowingly broke her heart twelve years ago. Not THAT big of a heart break. She's had plenty of other things that really broke her heart in the past two years that the teenage stuff seems silly. But it takes her by surprise when he asks her to dinner. She tells him no. She couldn't. It's too soon. Plus, she doesn’t date. Even though her therapist told her she needs to open her heart again, she can't. Especially not to a guy like Trent Stone. No way. Pfft. Okay, maybe she noticed he's built and kind of hot with his SEAL attitude of 'kicking down doors and taking no prisoners' but ... she can't.
When a chance meeting awakens memories neither of them expected, they find themselves—not just kissing in the library, but messing things up so badly that they one of his father's journals breaks ... and a trail of Polaroid’s fall out. Polaroids that just might be the clues to deciphering the numbers on the treasure map his parents left behind.
When Liberty insists on helping him figure it all out, they never would have imagined the fun, the danger, or the love they might fall into. Will they find the gold so many have searched for?
As these six Stone siblings find a way back to each other, they must learn to let go of what doesn’t matter and cling to the things their parents always wanted for them--family, love, and fun memories on the beach.

Trey Stone’s only goal was to get it sold and get back to doing what he’s always done; being a Navy SEAL.
Ava Jamison hasn’t been back to South Port since her father passed, but her recent divorce and wanting stability for her sixteen-year-old son, has given her a longing for home. She’s prepared to buy the old Stone Mansion and she delights in turning it into an Inn where other families can have the same good memories she’s always had.
When Trey puts a stop to the sell of the beach house and demands to know why she’s divorced, it starts a fire burning deep within her she hasn’t felt for a long, long time. Hopefully the man will get out of her way before she does something really, really stupid like kiss him. Whoops, too late.
Eventually Trey concedes to a partnership of sorts and they find themselves working side by side to restore his family home.
When all of Trey and Ava’s old beach friends start popping up in town, Trey discovers South Port just might be his home after all. And it doesn’t hurt that he might have a shot with the woman he’s never stopped loving.
As these six siblings find a way back to each other, they must learn to let go of what doesn’t matter and cling to the things their parents always wanted for them--family, love, and fun memories on the beach.
**Excerpt from The Stone Family Lighthouse:**
It wasn’t hard for Marshall to get up early. Even when he wasn’t deployed, he couldn’t sleep in. After taking a quick run, he grabbed a quick shower and then headed downstairs so he could whip up some protein shakes.
The smell of bacon hit him before he walked into the kitchen. Then he saw her, standing over a pan and stirring some eggs. Her presence affected him more than he wanted to admit. Yesterday, when he had brought her back to the inn and gotten her settled, it had been unnerving how on edge he was just being around her.
Of course, throughout the years, he’d thought about her. A lot. Even though they’d only kissed once, he’d thought about that kiss a million times. He’d replayed that scene too many times to count. It was stupid. He hated himself for even caring about her. The woman had turned him down flat. The following summer, when he’d been visiting South Port and planned to talk things out with her, he’d seen her with the Marine. He’d been so ticked that he’d gotten on his bike and driven for a long time.
As he walked into the kitchen, still battling with old feelings for this woman, he was further thrown off when he saw that she was playing house. “What the hell are you doing?”
He looked at the table. It was set for everyone to eat.
She glared at him. “A simple thank-you would suffice.”
He yanked open the fridge and grabbed the milk. “I was going to make them shakes.” He began the process of getting his protein powder out and mixing it all together in the blender. Once he’d peeled a banana, he added that as well. “So I don’t need to thank you for nothing, missy.”
“Protein shakes? These people are on vacation, Marshall. You don’t feed people on vacation protein shakes.”
He surveyed her. The woman was wearing exercise clothes that were tight. They showed off her curves, and he had to focus on the reason they were arguing. “Maybe they are health conscious.”
“You’re ridiculous.”
It was probably a good thing they were interrupted by a family and their children right then. “Yum,” said a little girl named Dora, who was probably around five. “Can we have some?”
Kat acted like she was the one hosting them. “Help yourself. We’re so happy to have you. If there’s anything you need, you just let me or Marshall know.”
And so it went the rest of the morning as the other couples came down for breakfast. It was both humbling and annoying that Kat was so good with people and serving them. She had saved him—he really would have given them all protein shakes. Now that he was thinking clearly, he could see it was a bad idea.
After everyone had eaten and talked and then taken off to their activities or to go shower, it was just him and Kat left to clean up the kitchen.
At one point, he turned to her. “I got this. You can go relax.”
She scoffed at his suggestion. “No, I’m staying here for free. I want to help out. I insist.”
Marshall could respect that. He liked a woman willing to work and pull her weight. He’d been raised that way; everyone worked, and work was good for people. His ex, Sarah, had always made a point to go half on all chores. Once, he’d asked her why she never went half on car maintenance, and she’d told him he was being a baby.
Why had he liked her again?
“Marshall?”
He jerked to face Kat. “Yeah?”
Her brows knitted together. “Are you okay? I said your name two times.”
More and more, he was getting lost in his own thoughts, and he hated it. “Sorry.”
She held up a bag of trash. “Which garbage can does it go in? There’s, like, three out there.”
He put down the wash rag, rinsing it out, and then reached for the trash. “The second bin, but I got it.”
“Great.” She let it go and glanced around. “The kitchen looks good.”
“Yeah.” He was halfway to the garage when he thought he’d better mention something. “So the new radiator won’t be here for a couple days. If you need to go somewhere, you’re welcome to borrow my rental car.” He’d already been thinking about making sure she had wheels. “Since I have the motorcycle anyway.”
“Oh.” She nodded. “Did I mention how much I appreciate you?”
“No problem.” He was pleasantly surprised to hear it.
“No, seriously,” she said, and her cheeks turned red. “You saved me yesterday. Between the car and giving me a place to stay …” She blinked hard, like she was trying to control her emotions. “I know I didn’t act like it, but I am grateful.”
It felt so good to hear her acknowledge all that he’d done. Sarah had always told him that he looked for too much praise. But he didn’t want to think of Sarah. He pointed at Kat and said, “Not to mention hiding you out. I mean, that’s the hardest part in South Port.”
She laughed. “Yeah.”
It was interesting that she seemed so emotional. He wanted to ask more questions—about this cabin she’d been going to by herself, about her life in South Port, about the Marine …
No. He couldn’t let himself get wrapped up in all of that. “So go relax.”
“Thanks.”
He waved his hand at her. “Have fun. Enjoy. Help yourself to anything in the house.”
“I might swim, if that’s okay.”
“Are you going to hot-tub?”
She hesitated. “No.”
Stupid. Why had he even asked that? He remembered sneaking her out of the house to come back and hot-tub when they were young.
Again, she blinked and swallowed. “Okay, I’m going to go.”
It felt like there was a lot she wasn’t telling him, but it was not his business. “Right.” He went to the garage and put the trash inside the garbage bin, then stopped in front of the hood of her car.
Thoughts of Kat crowded in again. What was she going to do today? Why had he asked her if she wanted to hot-tub? That was stupid.
Would she read? She used to love sitting in their library. She would read for hours. His mother and Kat used to talk about books all the time. Warmth filled him as he thought of that memory. Dang, he missed his mother.
The more he thought about Kat and the memories from those summers, the more he knew he couldn’t be here. He couldn’t just sit at the inn all day. Ava and Trey had told him he just needed to make sure he was back by eight for the popcorn and movies.
Vince would be here soon to watch the place, so Marshall could leave. He needed to get out of the house.
As he went back inside to grab his phone to text Vince, he noticed that Kat was still in the kitchen. She was standing by the French doors, staring out at the deck with the pool, the hot tub, the pool house, and the view of the beach. “Hey,” she said, turning to face him.
“Hey.” He paused, his heart racing.
“What are you doing?” she asked. Her face was innocent, exactly the way it’d been so many times when they’d been young and she’d stopped by to see him.
Time was like a pretzel, curving back on itself in this moment. “I’m not sure what I’m doing.”
“Me neither.”
All kinds of ideas burst into his imagination. He thought of the things they used to do together all summer: surfing, hiking, walking the beach to find seashells, lying up on the roof and staring at the stars for hours. He didn’t want to say any of that. “Well, there’s lots of things to do here that I think you’d find relaxing.”
Marshall was about to go up to his room when Kat said, “Do you remember how your mother and I would read for hours in the library?”
His adrenaline spiked. “I was just thinking about that when I was in the garage.”
“Your mom was the best. I mean, I’m pretty happy with my mom, too. But your mom was just … She just spent time with people when they needed it, you know?”
Marshall hadn’t thought about his mother like that, but it was true. “She did. She sat out in the garage and talked to me about as much as you did in the summers.” The memory of those times softened him. “I guess, looking back, I never felt I didn’t have time with her. Even though there were six of us, she always found time to spend with us.”
A smile played at her lips. “She was a good lady. Listen, I know you and I … well, we’re a bit explosive in nature, but I’m glad that you stopped yesterday.”
He thought of how she’d looked so angry, had accused him of shutting her out. “I’m glad, too.” Unable to stop himself, he asked, “Can I ask why this week is so important for you to get away? To go to a cabin by yourself?”
“What do you mean?”
“I don’t know. It just felt like I was missing something when you were so upset and talking about how you really needed this week. I mean, I know everyone needs a vacation. Time away. But is there something that is making you sad?”
“No,” she said, answering quickly, and turned back to face the window.
Which meant yes. Marshall sighed. Sarah had been lots of drama. He didn’t want drama in his life. “Okay.” He left the room, calling over his shoulder, “Good luck.”
None of her problems were his business. In his room, he grabbed his shades and his wallet. It was evident that she didn’t want to talk to him about whatever it was. So … that was fine. She could chill here. Do her thing. Get rested. And he would do his thing. They could just be normal people who didn’t know each other. Yes, he could treat her the same way he would treat any acquaintance in his life.
He strode back through the kitchen and to the garage door. She was gone. Good. He didn’t need to think about her. He would take a ride. Yes, he would go where he’d been kind of planning on going yesterday, before his attention had been hijacked.
But as he opened the garage door, he was held up. There she was, sitting on his new motorcycle. “What the …”
“Sorry,” she said as she got off the bike.
Again, he had to admire how slim she was. How graceful. Not the girl he’d once known. She had definitely matured. “It’s fine. You can sit on the bike.”
She gestured to the bike. “I was just enjoying it, that’s all. I’m done.” She didn’t meet his eyes as she walked past him. “I’ll just be doing … stuff. See you later.”
“Yeah, later.” But he found himself asking, “Want to go to the lighthouse?”
She froze, then turned to face him. “Are you serious?”
The fact he’d asked her actually surprised him. “Yeah.”
“I don’t know.”
The idea of her coming with him seemed to take hold of him. “I could … I could pack a lunch. I don’t think anyone from town will be out there. But we could bring a paper bag in case.”
“A paper bag?”
He grinned at her. “Sure. We can hide you away if someone comes.”
She laughed, and he knew he had her. “No.”
He redoubled his efforts. “Come on, it’ll be fun. I haven’t been to the lighthouse in years.”
“I haven’t either.”
“Then why not?”
The side of her lip tugged up into a smile. “I don’t know.”
“You can choose to come or not.” He moved back to the bike, not wanting to push her. “I’m leaving in twenty minutes. If you’re in the garage, I’ll take you. If you want to just hang out here, that’s great.”

A woman looking for a vacation. A man who hates vacations. Will a hurricane re-kindle a long lost love?

She only agrees to it because it gives her an opportunity to learn more about this treasure. Not because the man is gorgeous.

An ex-bull rider tasked with watching a baby. The woman who left him 14 years ago and who doesn't want to be back in this small town. When a medical emergency brings their worlds together, will the secret keeping them apart finally be revealed?
Colt Cross adores his niece and doesn't mind watching her for a week while his brother is on vacation. He's got it handled. He can definitely run the ranch and watch a baby. Until she comes down with a fever and he needs medical help. When he shows up at the doctor's house in the middle of the night, he never expected that the woman who left him at the altar fourteen years ago would be there, and he really never expected he would demand to know the truth.
When Sierra Shamrock, ER Doctor, comes to Cross Creek to help out her father after a heart attack, she never imagined she'd be face to face with Colt. And she really never imagined all of the old feelings coming back; it'd been fourteen years, and she should be over him. Yet, as he demands to know the truth of that night all those years ago, Sierra finds herself wanting to give this man more than the truth, possibly her heart.
Will a fire and conquistador gold pull them together or tear them apart?
As the Cross siblings get tested, they find they have to do the one thing their father always wanted them to do; trust each other and protect the land that is their legacy.

Roman Young, quarterback for the Dallas Destroyers, doesn’t expect to get a gun shoved in his face by the beautiful red head, Katie Winters, when he arrives to sell the Inn he inherited from his uncle in Wolfe Creek, Utah. But, he’s not surprised, either. It’s the way his life has been lately. Just ask the tabloids that have happily reported his shattered knee, his wife's affair, and the car accident.
Unfortunately, Katie is wearing a wedding ring. Not that he noticed. He doesn’t know why he doesn’t tell her about the fact he’s selling the Inn, even after she shoves a list of supply demands into his chest and rambles on and on about all the projects they have to do.
When he discovers her husband passed away a year ago, and her seven-year-old son asks him to come to dinner and movie night, things start to change. Or did they start to change when Katie took him sledding? Or when all he could think about was kissing her? Now he has to make a choice—keep ignoring the truth—or try one Last Play.

Number one draft pick, Legend James, soon to be back up quarterback for the Dallas Destroyers, hates the press. Especially when a scathing article about his love life reveals 22 dates in four years and calls him a ‘cold hearted snake.’—Who is this reporter and how come she clearly copied Paula Abdul’s song?
Charity Saint’s only goal in life is to work for the New York Times and when she gets the opportunity to get noticed by putting out a puff piece on the arrogant, cocky, too big for his britches, Legend James, she takes it. Until Legend asserts she’s printed lies and she gets fired before she really even got the chance to start.
When Legend comes to confront her and she gets a call that her grandfather’s had a stroke, she never expected he’d have the nerve to offer her a ride to the hospital. She doesn’t forgive him and she doesn’t care if she ever sees him again. Legend can’t describe why he offers to give her an exclusive on him—a real one. He certainly has no idea why he ends up taking her sky diving and then hauling her grandfather’s record player to the hospital and listening to Beatle songs with her all afternoon. But he does it. And unfortunately, he likes it.
When the New York Times offer’s Charity job back and Legend’s ex girlfriend comes to town, both of them are forced to make a decision—play it safe or make one more rookie move.

After leading the Destroyers through their worst season in football history, Sam Dumont gets traded to the Miami Surfs, and to top it all off, his estranged father has a heart attack.
Now he’s doing the last thing he ever thought he would do—going to Wolfe Creek, Utah. Maybe he knows he really does owe Roman Young a long overdue apology, but honestly, he’s mostly going because his shrink suggested it could help him get rid of the tiny panic attack problem he’s been having.
Instead of a simple in and out apology, he ends up with a fat lip, a baby shoved into his arms, and a bossy blond. As if that’s not enough of a shock, he finds himself ensnared by her voice and the country music she loves.
When Sam is given an opportunity to get back the only woman who’s ever walked away, he has to make a choice—lose everything he’s worked for…or Just Play.
