End of the year goals #amwriting #bookblogger
The last few months have been a bit rough and thrown me off track. So, I have set some modest goals in hopes of wrapping up the year on a positive note:
Give away 150-200 copies of SUMMONED – Should have this completed by the end of October.
Reach 100 reviews on SUMMONED – I’m at 86 reviews, and I’m not really pushing this. But it would be nice to reach a solid 100 before the end of the year. No sweat, though.
Reach 1000 Youtube views for the book trailer- No real reason for this, but it’s alrea...

Day 9: 31 Days of Free Book Marketing #authors
The other day, we talked about how to maximize the “social proof” of reviews for your book. We’re going to do something a bit similar today, but to increase interaction with your network.
The task for today is to create 5 trivia or facts for your book. The important element here is to end with a question. Trivia encourages people who have read the book to respond, exposing their audience to your book. Facts, when paired with a question, can engage anyone.
Here’s a couple I made for SUMMONED:
Wha...
Your Writing Isn’t Timeless. #amwriting
It’s not uncommon for authors to admit that they hope their work lives on after them, a sort of immortality that doesn’t require cooperation from the undead. I used to think it was a rather sweet sentiment—and I still do, to a point—until some authors insisted that is the one and only goal of all writing.
I disagree.
In fact, I will go so far to say that all writing isn’t exactly timeless. At least, not in the way that a reader can pick it up a hundred years from now and feel like it takes plac...

Day 8: 31 Days of Free Book Marketing #bookmarketing
Authors often giveaway copies of their books to their friends and family, which is great but doesn’t do much to widen their audience. Your friends and family already know about the book. They were probably already talking about it.
Authors also give away copies of their books to reviewers, which is a great tactic and does help widen their audience. But keep in mind, book bloggers recommend a lot of books. So while it’s great to make rounds in the blogosphere, don’t forget about the rest of th...

Day 7: 31 Days of Free Book Marketing
Today is the end of the first week for our 31 days of free book marketing!
Authors already know it’s important that their book have at least some positive reviews for several reasons, including “social proof” (the idea that other people are doing it/liking it, so the potential buyer might too). But as it stands, this only works if the potential buyer is already checking out the book. For example, for them to see the reviews on Amazon, they need to already be looking at the book on Amazon. It m...

Day 6: 31 Days of Free Book Marketing #authors
Many authors have a book trailer, but they often leave them in the Youtube cesspool to fend for themselves. Considering the number of videos there, the likelihood of organic visitors is pretty small.
Your task for today is to figure out ways to maximize exposure to your book trailer. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Do you embed it in relevant posts on your blog?
Do you share it on your social media network?
Do you include it in media kits for blog tours?
Book trailers add another element...
