Cover Reveal: January Black by Wendy Russo

Sixteen-year-old genius Matty Ducayn is the son of The Hill’s commandant. As such, he’s expected to conform to a strict, unspoken code of conduct. Small acts of defiance over years—such as walking on the grass—have earned him a reputation for being unruly. When sarcastic test answers finally get Matty expelled from school, King Hadrian offers him a diploma if he can answer a deceptively simple question, and then dismisses the only answer.

To prove his worth to society, Matty wrestles with the...

Day 31: 31 Days of Free Book Marketing

Don’t look now, but I think we made it through an entire month of free book marketing. Crazy, right? Yes, yes, we are. But that’s half the fun.

Today’s task sounds a little self-serving, but it’s not—entirely ;)

Today’s task is to sign up for my newsletter because there’s a free download of 35 links every author should know. You can look through that to make sure there’s no links you haven’t used yet. But the secret is I’m in process of updating that list, and the new document will be several hu...

TRIGGER WARNING: This book deals with the sensitive subject of sexual abuse.

Day 29: 31 Days of Free Book Marketing #amwriting

Authors are in this gooey mess together—or, at least, they should be.

Your task today is to look through your social network for authors who would have a similar audience as you. Then approach one to do a cross-promotion. The terms will be, of course, between you both, but consider:

Collaborating for a bigger giveaway
Sharing each others book info with your audience (social network, blog, etc)
Scheduling a combined book blast blog tour
Cross posting for each other in appropriate promo groups

Sharin...

Day 28: 31 Days of Free Book Marketing #blogging

Let’s just be honest here, blogging is a chore. Not to say it doesn’t have enjoyable moments—I certainly enjoy running ROTD—but it still requires time, dedication, and work.

Blogging can also be a great tool for driving traffic to your book. One trick is consistent posting. That can be every day, or every Sunday. Of course, the more the merrier—usually.

Today’s task it to make a list of 31 specific topics to write about. Most ideas can be broken down into several smaller ones, considering each...

Day 27: 31 Days of Free Book Marketing #bookpromo

Some blogs will use content from reprint article databases. Many of these databases accept contributions from anyone who can string together words. While they usually don’t pay for submissions, they do offer space for an author bio, and part of the terms of using their content is to include said bio with the post.

What this means is, if you link to your book in our author bio, it will be distributed by anyone who uses your article.

Today’s task is to write one article for a reprint database, su...
