Day 13: 31 Days of Free Book Marketing #amwriting

As a heads up, the task for today is probably going to take a little longer than most of the others. It will work, however, for any genre. It just might require a little creativity.

First, think all the potential topics within your book. For example, SUMMONED is based on the jinn, Pagan folklore, Arabic folklore, genie mythology, etc.

From your list, choose one that appeals most to you.

Narrow down a specific topic. For example, I might choose to write about the jinn in Pagan Arabia.

If you don...

What Not To Do #bookpromo #bookmarketing

Here are some step by step directions on what NOT to do:

1) Tell someone in a public forum you would like to share their giveaway with your followers, and to PM them. Recipient assumes this is for a cross promotion (share each other’s links). No big deal.

2) When messaged, disregard said offer and request a review exchange.

3) When advised that recipient does not do review exchanges, proceed to challenge their decision.

4) When recipient says that this isn’t up for debate and would only be willin...

Day 12: 31 Days of Free Book Marketing #marketing

In the last post, we talked about sharing your book information on promo-friendly Facebook groups. Today, we’re going to do similar but with GoodReads groups. Keep in mind that GoodReads group ften use threads, so there will probably be a specific area to post your topic. Some groups allow straight up promos, others require a giveaway, and so on. As always, it’s important to take the time to understand how the group functions and then post accordingly.

Five seems to be our number, so see about...

Day 11: 31 Days of Free Book Marketing #authors

Everyone on Facebook knows how annoying groups can be, but let’s try putting them to use for a refreshing change. There are a ton of promo-friendly Facebook groups out there, such at this one.

Your task for today is to find 5, read and understand their rules, and post something compliant that is related to your book. You can search for groups, ask friends, look at the suggested groups, etc.

Keep in mind, these groups tend to be very busy so don’t expect to be the top post for long, but a littl...

Day 10: 31 Days of Free Book Marketing #ebooks

One often overlooked fact about readers is that they like other things. I know, it surprised me too ;)

Chances are, your target audience will like movies and TV shows that are similar to your book. You may need to spend some time thinking about which ones. Then, come up with some comparisons that make sense.

Here’s one for SUMMONED:

The jinn in #Supernatural are one concept. Here’s another: http://ow.ly/vp8hT

An important note: do NOT use just whatever is popular for the sake of reaching more peo...
