Sire & Childe: Chapter 1

Here is a preview of my book. Progress has slowed a bit due to busyness, but this is a very exciting book so far, and I love writing it every day. The story has gone off the rails and it's building itself now. I love when that happens.

I found a funny misspelling during the reading. "I knocked the window out of him..." Haha.

Anyway, this chapter has a lot of flashbacks, so it might read choppy. But don't worry, this is the only chapter with flashbacks. I'll post Chapter 2 on the 20th, and hopef...

On vegan vampires

Picture The first challenge of writing a vampire romance is figuring out what you want to try to get away with. When the romantic lead is essentially a cannibal, it's tough to make him the good guy. A lot of books get over this by making the vampire an animal sucker.

I guess it's the lesser of two evils, but from that perspective, I think vampires would be welcomed right into society. As squirrel and pigeon control. Cities would love 'em!

Not every romance has to make their monster a killer, but I sur...

Inspiration for Sire & Childe

I'm working so hard on Sire & Childe. Brian's story is 13k in and maybe, eh, 20% complete. I'm thinking about going right into Book 3 once this is done because I'm having a blast.

Below are a couple images that inspired me when I was coming up with the series. This is why I decided to go with blue eyes: Picture http://www.deviantart.com/art/VAMPIRE-The-Turning-135953158
And this one is why I decided to make them angelic little monsters: Picture  Unfortunately, I was unable to find the full paintin...

My rant about a video game

Picture This post is hidden behind the read more link since it contains massive spoilers for the ending that will decrease your enjoyment if you want to play Nier: Automata. But I won't give up specific details of the ending. I'll just say... Everybody dies. Now, I know there's technically a couple endings where one or both of the main characters survives, but in my mind it's still a death ending because the game world is pretty much dead. Nothing's been resolved. In fact, a lot of the areas...

Lucas is on hold for now

Picture I typically get stuck on at least two parts of the story. The moment after the first act, when all the exciting intro stuff is done and I realize that I actually have to tell a story now. And I usually have a few days after the final crisis where I mull over how exactly  I want things to end. (My outlines have always been a waste of time.)

It's a really bad sign when I'm stuck on a story and I haven't even introduced all the main characters yet. I don't know what it is. I have subplots a...

Fox Furry Pre-Order

Got a pre-order up of my next book! I'm still hard at work on the final chapters. (My villain is so delicious in this one!)

Don't get down about the long wait to June 15th. That's a placeholder date. I'll launch the book as soon as the draft is ready.

Writing

It’s been two weeks since the Omega Bundle launch, and I’m waist-deep in another book. I’m doing a Febrewrimo—and smashing it with HALF my word count done early.

But I must warn you: I’ve switched projects. I’m picking up Lucas again in March, but this month is about a new series that’s going to be a bit weird. It’s a fantasy series, and it’s bit cringey—which means should be interesting at least. I thought about putting this one under a different pen name, but hey, if some folks are still wit...

It's here! Omega Bundle and Paperback!

I ran into a funny problem while I was setting up the paperback for Omega. Apparently, they don’t let you print books of any size. For a 6x9 (the most common novel size) I could only go up to 690 pages. Aaand Omega in it’s finished version comes to 1067 pages.

This quite frustrated me yesterday, because most of the novel formats only allow 500 pages or less. I had to remove my sample chapter of Backwoods Bear from the backmatter. Then I had to nudge the font size down just enough to get under...
