The Mafia is ALIVE!

Today is such an exciting day for me. Today my very first Mafia Romance, Vanished in Vegas, hit Amazon’s shelves & Kindle Unlimited. I’ve always wanted to write a mafia romance. (Happy Dance!) Vanished in Vegas is just the beginning of more to come. This book will have two sister books. (Literally, the main female character in this book has two sisters and they both are getting their own book: Hitman’s Rose & a book in the HERmerta Series that releases this year.) Fun times ahead.

Sofia Romano has just been flown to Las Vegas via her father’s orders. She protested and demanded to stay in New York City; however, as always, her father won. Now, she’s stuck living with her grimy, sleazeball of an uncle– Uncle Tino. The man she despises most but just like everything else in her life, she doesn’t have a say in the world.

Antonio Berlusconi owns Las Vegas. There isn’t a single thing that happens in his city that he doesn’t know about. That’s how he knows the rat, Tino Romano just had a special delivery. A niece. And she’s the perfect leverage to use against Tino by kidnapping her and making Tino sign over his rights to the biggest casino in Vegas. Simple enough. Right?

Just one problem, what do you do when the leverage is a green-eyed spitfire, who you crave like there’s no tomorrow and couldn’t harm a hair on her head even if you tried? You make her yours at any and all cost.

Book Talk: two kinds of reviewers

Recently, I came across a review on the charity anthology I am in:

“Never pay for anything written by S.E. Isaac. Her inclusion should have placed this anthology on KU.“

I was flabbergasted, hurt, and angry by the review. It was a 1-star and only mentioned me. I took a few minutes to digest my thoughts and came back to the review. The reviewer mentioned NOTHING about any of the stories (not even mine). All she did was bash me and mention KU which is a reader subscription, which confused me to no end. Clearly, this reviewer wanted to hurt me (and the 400+ other authors she has reviewed and bashed in the past on Amazon). How unfair and unkind of this person on multiple levels. The “Forever in My Heart” is a charity anthology with ALL proceeds going to the American Heart Association, which is a GREAT organization. Because of this woman’s spitefulness, the anthology now has a 3-star rating average with one being her 1-star and another being a 5-star. If a person doesn’t like my book and wants to leave a review, I welcome it. As an author, I want to grow in my trade. Tell me what you liked, didn’t like, what you thought could be worked on, etc. Don’t just call me out and trash my name. It doesn’t help me at all and it makes you look like a troll in the romance author community because word spreads like wildfire. I have narrowed down the person and all I can say to her is: I hope you wake up one day and realize how hurtful words can be to a person’s character and business. I didn’t think anyone read my paranormal romance book, Shifter’s Delight, (LOL) so this was a pleasant surprise! And, to know that a secondary character, who I personally enjoyed writing, was loved by a reader made my heart happy too. So… Book 2 has officially gone into the making.

Speedbump named 2002

Hi. My name is S.E. Isaac and I would like to hit restart on 2022. It has started horribly. First, we had the tragic loss of Betty White. I thought it was a joke. She was such a bright star in this dark world. Then on January 4th, our family nearly had a devastating tragedy. My son– Alex– who many of you know has autism and schizoaffective lives in a group home a few hours from me. I received a call that he had run away. Usually, he has his phone and I can find him via a GPS app. This time he left his phone. We headed up there to help in the search. He was nowhere to be found. My heart was broken and my stomach in knots for hours upon hours. I felt so hopeless. Luckily, he was found. He was in the river. A very large and deep river. He had attempted to swim across, got caught in the current, and traveled downstream. But again, he was found. A few of the staff were able to get to him & carry him out. He was dehydrated and on the verge of hyperthermia. Outside of that, he was healthy & safe.

I felt so much despair that day. Nearly seven-plus hours of him missing had taken a toll on me. I absolutely despised 2022; however, my kiddo was safe & sound. What more could a mother ask for? Right? So… I moved forward with my new year and woke up SICK. Like deathbed type sick. (insert eye roll) But the show must go on. Or attempt to go on even if I am waving a white flag in the air. Do you think 2022 will go away? Doubtful huh? (HA!)

With all that being said, how are all of you holding up? Truthfully. I’m all ears if you need to vent.
