Summer Update
Hey, Lovelies!
Apparently, it has been a while since I posted a blog. Not sure how time always manages to slip through my grasp, or maybe my chaotic life is finally catching up to me & I’m losing my sense of time. Regardless, I’m here now with an update for you.
I recently created a new book promo group on Facebook. It’s called Monster in the Cookie Jar Book Promo. My inspiration came from frustration and the lack of funds to promote the way big-name authors do for their babies (books). The indie author community is big, but we often go unseen because we don’t have a loud enough megaphone. I’m hoping that by creating this book promo group, authors will be able to share their books (covers, links, etc.) and get seen by readers who might not have ever come across the author. Readers finding new authors is my coinciding goal.

The Facebook group isn’t the only new thing that I have done recently. I took the plunge and joined Patreon. I will be posting free content and member-only content for readers known as Escape Reality Perks membership. Escape Reality Perks comes with several perks such as swag, signed books, behind-the-scenes content, and more.
I’m still trying to find my footing on the platform, but I’m sure a guru will come along and guide me so that I can provide great content to those who follow my page.

Yesterday, I recorded and published a new book podcast episode. It was a huge pain in the behind. My computer absolutely hated me!!! I wanted to frisbee toss it off the balcony. I’m sure my family thinks I’m nuts from all my screaming and fussing. Somehow, I regained my composure and finished my podcast.
Hmm.. what else is new my way?
At the end of May, I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in psychology. I have since then been searching for a job in the mental health field. It has been discouraging. Prior to my degree, employers wanted employees who had a bachelor’s, and now they want master’s degrees and PhDs.
My boyfriend has had to listen to my frustrations about how I just can’t catch a break in life. I guess he prayed really hard to the mental health gods and goddesses because I finally had an interview. I even got a follow-up interview with the boss. She said I will be hearing from HR soon. I still can’t believe it. If I am allotted this opportunity, I am going to use it to my full advantage to help make a difference.
As a parent of a special needs kiddo, I know how ugly and hard it can be to get resources for those in the mental health & disability community. I don’t want any parent or caregiver to go through what my family and I have gone through. It has been a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, and I wish that upon no one.
No one should have to suffer because they are different.
Different, not less.
Sorry about that. I found myself starting to go on a tangent. Eek!

There’s a new blogger in town!

I know her personally and let me just say that she is one of the sweetest people you will ever have the pleasure of meeting (if you’re lucky to). She has always been a big supporter of mine and has shared my books countless times. To hear that she is now blogging and reviewing books part-time excites me because authors thrive from having a review left on their books. Whether it’s a good or bad review, it gives the book the attention it needs to stay in the algorithm and get noticed by other readers. Blogging the review makes it even more special because it’s word-of-mouth and that travels fast in the book community. Just like my blog. I hope lots of people share it on their social media and help spread the word on Article Alley Blog.

A whirlwind of a day…
Hey, Lovelies! Hope you are all doing well.
It’s been a busy day, week, month… year! I am so exhausted, especially today but at least I can say I have been productive. I woke up at 5 A.M., hit the road at 5:30AM, made it to work around 6:15AM, worked, came home, picked up my middle son, went to Walmart, came home, put away groceries, soaked in the tub, scheduled posts, fought with technology for my podcast, created a podcast with Alana Winters as my guest co-host, published my newsletter, and now working on this blog…E I E I O! (Woooo. I’m whipped! Did you catch all of that? LOL I still have to do homework before bed and it’s not even 8PM.)

What’s new with me author-wise? Well, my muse and life don’t get along so I haven’t been writing much; however, I need to finish my co-writes. One book is back in my court so I need to work on my chapter. I’m super excited because it is a dark mafia romance. (Read book 1 here: Dangerous Affair) The scene I have to write is a sex scene so I’m not looking forward to that, but I may have it interrupted with the other mafia showing up. Muhahahahaha!
How much do you love me? Probably not at all but that’s okay, I love you still. (LOL) And, since I adore your faces, I will share my cover reveal here first with all of you. It’s a paranormal fantasy romance under my pen name Roxy Ray. I have had this book in the works for over a year but life had taken a toll on my mental health so I had to take a step back from everything. Hopefully, I can overcome my mental health issues and go full swing into the author world again and this time under my own terms. No more “yes” me. If I don’t want to do a series or collaboration, I will politely say “no”. (You guys will have to hold me accountable)
I had so much fun writing this book with Josette Reuel. Super-steamy reverse harem (menage) with bikers and paranormal beings. Such a delicious series!

This book is one of my true book babies. It is a Hunger Games meets Divergent type book. While I wrote it, it helped me battle my demons from Iraq and Afghanistan. It was such a great outlet for me and I finished writing the book in less than a week. It was such an accomplishment and lifted me out of a dark place. People who read this book often message me and say how amazed they were by it. Those words only help add to my happiness towards the book itself. I’m glad others are able to enjoy it as much as I did writing it.
