Verbal Explosion of Catch Up

[image error]First things first, Happy Holidays to all of you, regardless of you religion, spirituality, etc., etc. I hope that 2017 has been pleasant for you all. I know for me, personally, it has been bumpy & by bumpy, I mean H-E-L-L! (HA) However, I am going into 2018 with a paddle and a ball gag. Going to make 2018 my bitch. Let me know, if you need to borrow my paddle to keep 2018 in line.

Author Spotlight 12/14

Today I’d like to introduce you all to Bena Roberts! Bena has taught me a new UK word that is different in the US: Banner. Apparently, banner means cover in the UK. Quite fancy. I like it. Anyway, without further ado, let’s get to know Bena Roberts.

Bena is an expat British woman living with her family in Germany. She was a journalist, blogger and analyst as well as CEO of quite a few geeky companies. She is a bookworm, gym bunny and partial to dry Italian red wine. Bena’s passion for writing began as a child in the cosy corner of her parent’s bookshop in London. She grew up reading Sidney Sheldon, Judy Blume, S.E. Hinton and Marian Keyes.

If you want to stalk…I mean find, Bena, you could look in the following places:

Goodreads

Amazon Author Page

“Six Tinder Weeks” Webpage

She has a blog tour in January; however, her debut novel, Six Tinder Weeks, has graced the world with it’s cover. I absolutely LOVE the cover. The glossy heart wrapped around the mouse chord speaking volumes. At least to me it does. Great job to whoever created that.

Six Tinder Weeks is her debut novel and is realistic fiction that will appeal to women, mums and especially those just divorced. Six Tinder Weeks is not the usual romantic novel; it is realistic fiction full of twists, turns that will make you laugh out loud. If you like something unexpected, then you will enjoy this Pandora’s box of love, action and the unexpected

Blurb:

“Forty-something scientist Helen leaves her husband after twenty uninspired years of marriage. Plagued with making the wrong decisions she looks towards holistic therapy and the universe to guide her choices. She meets hairdresser Alex and takes his advice to download the dating app SPRK.

Helen embarks on a voyage of self-discovery, paganism, hedonism and desire. What could go wrong? Well for one secret agent CJ is convinced that Helen is part of a notorious Romanian smuggling gang.”

Happy dance! Happy dance!

[image error]I just got a boost in confidence and it is thanks to Tiffany Heiser Graphics. I was lucky enough to cross paths with Tiffany and her company. We chatted up and I told her I was interested in a trailer for my YA military romance novel Train to Anguish. She began working her magic and the end of result has be jumping up & down with joy! Can’t wait to work with her again. Her work brings the books to life & now I feel like a real author. (ha! I know it sounds silly, but it’s nice to have professional promotional stuff made for my books.)

Tiffany Heiser is originally from a small town in Texas, and now lives in the city with her son and new pup; Kylo. She has been working in banking most of her life and always set aside some time to write. In 2011, she realized that she wanted to pursue the writing dream. It was in 2012 that she found graphics design to be another passion of hers. Creating images for books is truly something that she enjoys.

Tiffany Heiser is a self-taught designer who is constantly growing. Tiffany has learned so many new techniques and styles that have grown her work from what it once was. Tiffany found that she could take this new-found love and use it to help indie authors, businesses, and individuals with their graphic needs. It was that goal and that passion that prompted her to start Tiffany Heiser Graphics.

This is something that she truly enjoys. To find a relaxing moment of time to step away from any stresses from life, and create.

There were times Richard Martin loved his life. He had everything most men nearing middle age could want. A beautiful wife. A young son. All his hair.

He still has his hair, but not all is at it seems. His idyllic life was turned upside down when he and his family were forced to move from their home in Bristol to a small Gloucester flat because of Richard’s new job and now he finds himself beset on all sides. However that is not the sum of his problems. When his new supervisor, a promiscuous bombshell more than ten years his junior, sets her sights on him, she is by no means subtle about her interest in him, no matter who might be watching.

But temptation comes in many forms, and Richard has recently found his eyes lingering on the woman from downstairs who babysits for them. Was it his imagination, or were her skirts getting shorter?

In this first volume in L.M. Mountford’s sizzling debut series: Sweet Temptations, a naughty babysitter sets out to seduce her man. No matter what his wife might think, this tempting little wench is determined to rock his world…

Be sure to stop by L.M. Mountford’s Thunderclap and show your support!

Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde

I recently started a community page on Facebook called ‘Takes a Village’ (@UnicornsRhiding) . It is my outlet for dealing with my son’s condition. I have come across many wonderful groups & people when searching the mental health world on Facebook; however, I noticed that people are still afraid to say the truth of how they feel without judgment. So, that’s where my page comes in. Parents & caregivers (people in general too) can post posts, images, videos, etc. and not feel that they are going to have society cram it back down their throats and tells them what a shitty person they are. Hell, most of us parents/caregivers already feel like shit. We don’t need society judging us for one more thing. Ya know?

New in my author life? I finished Kiss of a Vampire (THANK GAWWWWD!), so once my mind settles from personal matters I hope to get back in the game. However, there are many obstacles currently in the way.

~*~ Happy thoughts. Happy thoughts. ~*~

Recap

Hello, lovelies! Let’s recap the highlights of this delightful week a.k.a HELL!

Monday and Tuesday were the normal get my ass beat by my son. Nothing too extreme. No major bruises. So that was a plus.

Wednesday’s message to a friend: “I just had to play Baywatch Fat Girl edition and save my dog out of the pool”

My dog was (yet again) drinking out of the pool and fell in (again). Kids began screaming for me. I coming running and don’t see the dog. He is UNDER water. So….Fatgirl BayWatch to the rescue. Sigh. He is the worst doggy paddler EVER! Pitbull + water = S.O.P (Save our pup)

Friday’s FB post:

A moment to chat about my day.

As we all know, Alexander is 12, autistic, mood disorder and now being monitored for schizophrenia. He has PTSD from psych hospitals because he spent all last year in one. He is terrified of hospitals. We saw his pediatrician today and after talking to Alexander & myself, he felt that Alexander needed to see a psychiatrist. But the Dr didn’t want him to end up on a waiting list, so he suggested Montevista Hospital, here in good ole Las Vegas.

I took Alexander. As soon as we got in the hospital door, he became very agitated. Front desk staff were amazing and got us to a secure location. Here comes the good part…

Montevista Hospital let’s talk for a minute about your employee….Mike. Not sure if he is still on shift or not, but he was around 4 today when I brought my son there. Mike thinks the way to control 12 yrs old autistic, mood disorder (monitored for schizophrenic) child who is standing on a chair to touch the camera is to scream like a lunatic & scare the crap out of him and his 7 year old brother who is also in the lobby room. Mike also thinks that while screaming/yelling like a lunatic is done best if it is in the ear of the mother (that’d be me). Again, only if an inch from said mother’s ear!!!! I was in the doorway to keep my son from eloping. Mike barreled ass down the hallway to verbally attack my child & since I was in the doorway, just decided to yell next to me.

It took 20+ minutes for my ear to stop hurting to the point that I wanted to cry. It still hurts but at least I’m not wanting to cry. OH. AND…my 7 year old was standing behind me slightly off to the left and his ear was in pain too from our buddy, Mike. Thanks, Mike.

After all of that, my son couldn’t be assessed because he’s autistic. A common issue with the mental health system. Since my son is dual diagnosed with autism and mood disorder a lot of places won’t see him because they don’t specialize in autism, or because he has mood disorder. Thanks, mental health system XoXo

So at the end of the day, just wanted to say thanks Montevista Hospital for the fun Yelling adventure :*

Sincerely,

One stressed out mother

Saturday (today)

My son with the mental health issues has been Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde all day! Not that this is anything new, but holy hell. Can I catch a break? I’ve had to change up my game. My stress and sugar levels went to high, while I was laying next to him keeping him from harming others. I ended up going to sleep for hours! I really need to get myself healthy mentally and physically. Scary. My body just gives up.

I often thought about recording my son to show the world what it is like to live with an adolescent (12), who is autistic with mood disorder battling puberty. AND, after yesterday’s doctor’s appointment, we are looking at actual diagnosis of Schizophrenia. People “Aww. I’m so sorry, but you’re tough. I know you can do it.” (sharpens my claws on near by rock) It’s not about being tough, because even the toughest things in the world can be broken.

Thanks for letting this stressed out mommy vent! (kisses)

Happy Reading!

Well…that was fun

I wish I was like Kitty from That 70s Show. My true hero. Open the hatch and bottoms up! However, I am a shitty drinker! Not because I am a lightweight, but because I forget (yes. you read that right) to drink. I get sidetracked by something shiny (i.e. doing the dishes, mopping, laundry, playing with dog, reading an ARC, checking to make sure my challenging child hasn’t snuck off, making sure my other child isn’t hording snacks under his comforter, etc. etc.) By the time I get back to my drink, once I locate it, it is warm. I try to not be wasteful so I attempt to drink it…warm (cringe), but my body isn’t having it.

So moral of the story…I won’t be getting drunk anytime soon. I seriously need a fucking hobby outside of the house away from the kids. I do love them wholeheartedly but I am losing my sanity. I honestly have 0 friends here. My only adult interaction is at stores, online or when my fiance’ comes home from out of state. Other than that I’m solo. And, my meds only help so much. (yes, I take meds. No shame in my game. I either take them or I end up on CNN for being bat-shit crazy).

Moving along…I am about 4 pages (i.e. less than 1k words) shy of having completed Kiss of a Vampire. I am only 28 days behind, but I am done beating myself over it, because honestly, I can only do so much with my son’s issues. I’m lucky my house isn’t burned down and that I still have my eyebrows (I’m waiting for the day he shaves them off while I’m sleeping). I will take as many words I can get down on paper. Once Kiss of a Vampire is done for the My Fated Valentine anthology (an anthology FULL of PNR love juice), I will be moving on to Enchantress’ Tale, which will be part of the series Vampire Kingdom, which KOAV will also be part of once I am able to have it as a standalone out of the anthology. (But no rush there ❤ )

Kiss of a Vampire

Whispering Hills was Adrena’s only escape from the world around her. The one place she could lose herself without a single care. That was until Calleb crossed her path causing a ripple in the balances. One vampire, one Lierum and one fate…Love bites

Five Things I learned From Vacation

Article Alley

5E56A7C4-80C7-4203-8D16-5D2720C164DB.jpegFor Thanksgiving, originally my fiancé, Liam, and I were going to my mom’s condo in Florida, but then her husband got the flu. Since we didn’t want to expose the baby mom helped up find a new place to go. So my fiancé and I took Liam to Panama City beach for five days. We left Georgia on Wednesday and returned to Georgia on Sunday. While on vacation, I learned a few things about myself.
1) Relaxing without thinking or worrying about work isn’t as hard as I made it in the past.
Lately, I had been feeling burnt out at work. I felt like I was depleted and had nothing left in me to give. I failed to be able to relax because I would still be focused on work when I got home. During this vacation, I learned how to not think about work and enjoy my lazy…
