Nick Ostdick is the bomb. And if you wish to confirm this feel free to check out Slow Dancing at the Night Train.

We know that you know that writer Nick Ostdick is the bomb. It goes without saying. Still, who doesn't like to be reminded of these things, you know? And yes, we know that you know that too. So, why not check out his new joint Slow Dancing which is up on Night Train. Nick is totally working his usual Ostdickian magic with this piece and once again spinning a tail of longing and pain that ultimately contains just enough hope to make it all bearable. It's nice work and now we suggest that you go t

Cough syrup? And Friends. Some review love we are quite digging from Sean Lovelace on Most Likely You Go Your Way and I'll Go Mine.

We have been feeling lately like we are slowly entering that phase where a book, in this case Most Likely You Go Your Way and I'll Go Mine, is no longer so hot, regardless of how hot it truly ever became, and begins to fade from the public's consciousness, regardless of how much or little a place it held in said consciousness in the first place. Given that it is even more fun to see a review or blurb emerge from the clutter about Most Likely than it was/is during that initial rush of attention,

This post just might be about something that involves TBWCYL, Inc. spokesperson Ben Tanzer, his writing and the very cool Achilles Chapbooks series.

We are not going to say exactly what it is we might be alluding to, but we can say that we are very excited to be working on a new thing with Barry Graham and his crew at the very excellent Achilles Chapbooks series. Barry is thinking we might be running with this something this coming summer and we are thinking that we are quite geeked about all of this, because we are not only big fans of what Barry is doing with this series, which we would add has published many writers we dig including but n

Six Sentences. Six Deaths. Ken Wohlrob. Goodness.

We of course have never had any qualms expressing our affection for any number of writers and Ken Wohlrob author of the quite fine short story collection The Love Book is certainly no exception. Today we wanted to take a moment to hype a newish joint of his, the kick-ass magazine-style Six Deaths which was posted on the equally kick-ass Six Sentences as part of the Six Sixes series. We know that this is a lot of Six, but don't be frightened by this. Nor should you be frightened by all the qualit

This Podcast Will Change Your Life, Episode Fifteen - "Talking Heads."

We are most excited to share the latest edition of This Podcast Will Change Your Life with you. In this episode we talk with the wonderfully eloquent writer John Domini - whose book Talking Heads: 77 we riffed on earlier this year - about a range of subjects including, but not limited to Dante, paying the bills, and being nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, the latter of which is a first in this series for those of you keeping track at home. And you do keep track at home, right? Good. And enjoy.

This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, Week Fifteen - "Spring."

We are post-virus. We can upload photos again. And we are back with Week Fifteen of This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, by far the most self-absorbed project in the entire TBWCYL, Inc. media empire. It also seems like spring may finally be upon us, hence the title of this week's photo. For those new to the project, we are looking to post one self-portrait per week for one year, and if you are so inclined you can track our progress on the Flickr. You are also invited to send us a self-portr

The new edition of This Zine Will Change Your Life is live and we are eating crow. Or something like that.

The new edition of This Zine Will Change Your Life is live and we are eating crow. Or something like that. We have a new poem, The Night My Sister and I Boycotted Crow by Shane Allison, which we are way excited about, and, as always, photo action from Adam Lawrence, a music selection from Jason Behrends, and regulatory credit card prose love from Pete Anderson. We hope you enjoy this edition and we appreciate all shout-outs and links. Finally, please note, that we are temporarily closed for subm

A much delayed This 2008 Top Ten Movie List Will Change Your Life.

We like to pretend that running a large multi-national corporation, raising a family, and writing obscure, off the radar novels shouldn't take up much time, much less interfere with our movie-going desires. And yet, here we are rolling out this list in April while still barely feeling like we have seen everything we might have wanted to factor into this decision if we just had the opportunity to do so. Still, it is time, and so without further adieu, our 2008 Top Ten Movie list for your consumin

Planes, trains, automobiles and You Must Be This Happy to Enter and The National Virginity Pledge. That and big thanks to Beaverdale Books.

We are happy to report that we have been to Des Moines and back and we want to thank Alice and Beaverdale Books for hosting us and Most Likely You Go Your Way and I'll Go Mine last night. It is a killer independent book store and we think you just might want to visit them and buy many books. We are also happy to report that we got to visit with the John Domini and his lovely wife and fellow author Lettie Prell, and in the next day or so you can expect a most excellent new Domini-centric edition

Do we hear road trip? We will be at Beaverdale Books tonight. Will you be there? Thanks, it means a lot.

TBWCYL, Inc. spokesperson Ben Tanzer will be reading from Most Likely You Go Your Way and I'll Go Mine, and maybe even his new joint, the tentatively titled You Can Make Him Like You, tonight at Beaverdale Books in Des Moines. The most excellent writer and man about town John Domini will also be in the house and we think you ought to come as well. What do you say, c'mon, do we hear road trip? Nice. See you there at 7:00pm.[image error]
