Hi Brandon. I suppose from previous asnwers that probably you don't like movies based on comic books. However, what about cartoons? If somebody ask you to make a cartoon serie based on Prophet, for instance, would you accept it? For me the idea would be in

I like some movies based on comics. I like Popeye a lot and Ninja turtles and The Crow are both fun. some stuff I like the movies a lot more than the comics —like Constantine. I just think it’s dumb when it becomes a goal to achieve & the Tintin movie just looked like shit from what I saw. plus I haven’t liked anything Spielberg has done since the 80’s.

Prophet is all Liefeld. If it was up to me I would leave it as a comic. Last time someone wrote asking about adapting it as a movie I just sent them the trailer to Yor: Hunter from the future. (great movie)

I feel like it would make the most sense to make something intended for the medium it was in. Awhile back when I was talking to some film people I had an idea for a space train mystery story. but really, I feel like I’m in a really amazing place in comics I can do whatever I want without compromise. & that seems much more rare in film or animation.

what did you think of The Adventures of Tintin

I grew up on Tintin, so I have a big fondness in that and Asterix as my gateway into European comics. I have a Tintin tattoo on my right arm (the Kih-Oskh symbol from Cigars of the Pharaoh. My pal Joe has the same tattoo.

I also like the weird alcoholism, opium dens and head injuries that pepper the books. I like the mystery, adventure  and the swirly run lines Herge draws and the smile lines on the sides of mouths, The way he draws black people is kind of a mess but as with many things in life It’s easy for me to take what I want from things, but also something about it seemingly being done without venom. (Although, I am aware it’s made easier because it doesn’t directly affect me)

There’s a Herge quote “my early works are books by a young Belgian filled with the prejudices and ideas of a Catholic […] they are not very intelligent, I know, and they do me no honor ” From an article on it here.

but yeah, Tintin is a huge part of comics for me.

What do you think of people getting tattoos of your work?

I think it’s one of the most flattering best things. I feel super spoiled by the quality of people who I’ve met that like my stuff. & gotten to know a couple people who got stuff tattooed. It feels like making a deal with them where they like the work enough to make it permanent and my end is to make an attempt to try and be / and make more work/ worthy of that weight.

There’s a Brother Ali quote I like a lot. “They put me on their back and carry me when I can’t fly Then put me in this skin, tattooed it with a pen”

Also this Jay Electronica —- ”I got a lot of family, you got a lot of fans

That’s why the people got my back like the Verizon man”

yup. that’s the goal.

Happy was the best. I based the King city character Happiness off of her along with catmaster: Klovharu (based on my pal Claire)

I drew these character cards for the new Star Wars campaign on One Shot Podcast. Funnest job ever - go have a look at their project.

I’ve been wanting to get my own D&D game going for years and years, but I’m terrible at making things like that happen - no doubt that’s why I’m extra eager to enjoy it secondhand through commissions like this.
