Er… I did this.
The Wicked + the Divine is out on June 18th. If you pre-order before May 26th (i.e. Monday) you can guarantee a copy and make us all very happy. When I say “Us” I mean “Me.”
I wanted to reblog this thing Kieron did (because it’s good & no need to redo it) and tack on the 8house #1 info to remind people to order it. (also it sells like crazy but read Wicked + Divine if you haven’t read it– I like it)

My Epic ECCC Round-up: The Sequel.
So last year I wrote about going to my first comic convention, which was Emerald City Comic Con. I went largely as a spectator, and just kind of to take things in. I wrote about it here. I felt like I should do kind of a follow up on that article, because I went again this year, and this year…
Sarah is too nice to me. (also this was a rad con with the best people)
hello! if I could ask, what mediums/program did you use for the 8house #1 cover? It's absolutely stunning! I can't seem to find any inspiration for traditional media but my fingers are aching to paint : > I find painting old school is a lot more stimulatin
Hi - thank you! That cover was all acrylic paint, with some pencil crayons on top (when the paint is thick the pencils don’t apply well, so it’s a slightly iffy technique).
I always prefer the hands-on traditional media, but I think that’s more what I’m used to than anything else, and I totally agree that they’re both equally challenging and rewarding. What I do like best about working old-school, though, is how you can fill a physical space, and I love using as large a surface as possible. (Walls! Give me your walls! One time I helped Brandon do murals for a show, and they had a cherry picker to take us up to the high-ceilinged second storey. I died of happiness.)
Still, I should really push to get more in practice with the digital stuff - I liked doing the prompts, so maybe I’ll force myself to go digital on a future round of them.

Part 1 of yesterday’s sketches (Part 2: Dragon Age Edition up next). Thanks again, you guys. If I missed a few people, it was because I figured the request was already more or less covered by something else, or because I didn’t know the reference well enough - in which case I’ll take it as a recommendation for something to check out.
MARIAN DRAWING MOLLY MILLIONS FROM NEUROMANCER WOOO!!!
Should I quit engineering school and just draw manga fan art and chibi superheroes all day?
I wanna do that. Tell Engine-ear-ring U that I have found a higher calling!

I dunno if a badge ever made anyone cool.

2/2 I used to think creative freedom was paramount but now I think that's only true in the external sense. Internally I think there's a lot of other things that're more important when it comes to what you do as a storyteller. What do you think?
I think creative freedom is an excellent place to start from. There’s certainly something to be said for what someone does with restrictions- whether from the outside or self imposed.
I feel like with art it’s hard to generalize. If not everything should be for everyone then not every circumstance for creating in would be either. I can say that I like freedom mixed with friction.
Also, I like this dog.
