Thanks so much to everyone who came to our Prophet book club with @royalboiler and @popgunwar yesterday. We talked a lot about Island magazine too, so it got us thinking:

One of our absolute favorite stories in Island, @gaelbertrand‘s silent fantasy comics “A Land Called Tarot,” is finally getting a collected hardcover edition this week. To celebrate we’re gonna do a book club to talk about it on March 5!

Black History in Its Own Words by Ron Wimberly

D.C. native @d-pi will be do a signing on February 15 to celebrate the release of this book! He’s been doing this series of pin-ups featuring prominent (and often under-appreciated) figures from black history for a few years now online, and now Image is putting out a gorgeous hardcover of the whole thing.

A Land Called Tarot by Gael Bertrand

One of our absolute favorite stories in Island magazine is finally getting a hardcover collection, and we’re gonna do a book club to talk about it on March 5. Gael Bertrand’s silent fantasy comic is full of weird frogs and portals, and we hope to see more of it in the future.

Motor Crush #3 by Brenden Fletcher, Cameron Stewart, and Babs Tarr

Probably our favorite new series of the last few months! If you haven’t checked out the first two issues of this girl-biker-gangs-in-the-future, Fast & Furious and Tron inspired queer lady comic, we’ve got the first two in stock here at Fantom!

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders vol. 2 by Hirohiko Araki

We’ve been digging these hardcover releases, and Stardust Crusaders-era Joseph Joestar may be our favorite JoJo character at all so we’re pumped to see him on the cover here looking sexy.

The Wicked + the Divine #26 by Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie

You know how we do at this point.

faitherinhicks:

metahatem:

If you haven’t watched Naoki Urasawa’s Manben Go watch it now!..well if you are into manga or comics and want to see the process, tools and lives of famous Japanese manga creators in a documentary style program exploring all that then you’ll surely like Manben!

The series is hosted by Naoki Urasawa who is the mastermind behind a body of work that includes masterpieces like : 20th Century Boys, Monster, Pluto, Billy Bat and more. I’m a huge fan if you haven’t noticed, however, it’s not just about him..it’s got so many different flavors and inputs and I really enjoyed it and learnt (learning still) a lot from it.

I recommend that you looks it up and watch it if you like what you read.. and I’ll put links to what I found on the interwebs .so if it doesn’t work or if it violates any rights please let me know and I’ll fix it/remove it. (it’s still ongoing so there will be more in the future..like this month of September!..and I don’t want it to stop! :D)

But first..some pictures:

Second comes the English dubbed episodes that I found that I’m not sure about sharing them..let me know if there is other sources that should be here instead or where to buy them..etc

Urasawa Naoki Manben S0E0 - Kawaguchi Kaiji & Yamashita Kazumi

Urasawa Naoki  S1E1 2015 - Higashimura Akiko

Urasawa Naoki  S1E2 2015 - Fujita Kazuhiro

Urasawa Naoki  S1E4 2015 - Saito Takao

Urasawa Naoki  S2E1 2016 - Hagio Moto

Urasawa Naoki  S2E2 2016 - Hanazawa Kengo

Urasawa Naoki  S2E3 2016 - Igarashi Daisuke

..I believe season 3 is on through September still..Enjoy!

I’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS 5EVER

BLESS U OP AND REBAGGLERS

This is such a good & informative show, a peek into the lives of Japanese cartoonists. And hosted by one of my favorite creators, no less. *_*

What’s out this week? 1/25/17

fantomcomics:

Thanks so much to everyone who came out this weekend to support our efforts during the inauguration protest! Did you see that this Friday, January 27, we’ll be donating 15% of our sales to Planned Parenthood in response to the March for Life going on that day?

Arclight #4 by Brandon Graham and Marian Churchland

This has been a long time coming. The final issue of Marian Churchland and Brandon Graham’s four-part genderfluid blood magic fantasy epic–we hope we’ll see Churchland’s art somewhere else real soon.

Island #14, edited by Brandon Graham and Emma Rios; work by Alchemichael, Lando, Remy Boydell, and Fil Barlow

One of our favorite Island covers in a while. The cover is NOT like Brandon Graham like some people have been saying–it looks very Brandon-y but it’s actually by up-and-coming artist @alchemichael! Anyway, whether you’ve been reading Island or not you should check out this new issue of our favorite anthology magazine.

Shutter #26 by Joe Keatinge and Leila del Duca

Our former boss Esther (R.I.P.) is now hanging out in Portland with Joe and Leila all day every day, or so we imagine. Is this what limbo looks like? Anyway, gettin’ near the end of Shutter!

Loose Ends #1 by Jason Latour and Chris Brunner

This is a Southern crime romance miniseries for folks who enjoy Jason Latour’s work on Southern Bastards. Slow-cooked, and colored by our pal Rico Renzi!

G.I. Joe #2 by Aubrey Sitterson and Giannis Milonogiannis

This book has come out of nowhere to endear all of us with the Metal Gear Solid style interior art of Giannis Milonogiannis, who you probably best know from Prophet. We’ve got copies of issue #1 at the store if you missed it the first time around!
