God’s Love

God’s love is so unfathomably big and beautiful that nothing on this earth could ever measure up to it which comes as no surprise because God Himself IS love! We humans tend to be so focused on what we can see, touch, feel, taste, and hear in our immediate surroundings that I am afraid we may be remiss in pouring out our hearts to God with praise and adoration in Thanksgiving for the intangible, untouchable, un-seeable, un-hearable gifts from God that truly are the most valuable gifts from God o...

My Big Beautiful Bananas

I have been eating bananas since I was a child. I am in my 50s now, so that’s a super long time. My favorite foods have changed over time, and suffice it to say peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chocolate chip peanut butter cookies, and protein smoothies with bananas in them are some of my favorites for now anyway. So I take great delight in finding extra big bananas in the store. I enjoy them most when they ripen into a yummy sweet mush perfect for tossing in the blender I bring with me as I ...

God’s Mercy

If I look back at my entire life, the three things that come to mind as my four greatest regrets are that I didn’t know and believe in and follow the Lord Jesus Christ right from the start, that I talked about something from long ago I wish I had forgiven and let go and kept quiet about, that I did not love and honor my parents from childhood on as I should have done no matter their imperfections, and that despite going to exceeding lengths for decades to help rescue dogs I at times lost my pati...

Where Is God Calling You?

“Are you going to hide here, or are you going to go where I am sending you?” the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart.

I faced a big decision. Stay in an easy, secure, comfortable, familiar, beautiful, and virtually risk-free ministry location. Or pray big, pack up my belongings and beloved special needs ministry dogs, and head off for my next major ministry location on the road for Jesus with a stop along the way. Hmm, what to do?

My flesh would have held onto the former in a heartbea...

God’s Longsuffering

Even after years of trying to faithfully follow Jesus, I still fall terribly far short when it comes to patience. My lack of patience makes me even more in awe of God’s phenomenal patience with humanity. In the King James version of the Bible, patience is sometimes referred to as “longsuffering”. This makes so much sense to me because there is a suffering in patiently waiting for something or someone.

In God’s case, He could and should have given up on humanity long, long ago. But in His exceedi...

The Gratitude Game

Day #30 of my Big Thanksgiving Challenge. Excerpted from my 100 Days of Thanksgiving Devotional-Journal which you can order when you CLICK HERE.The Gratitude Game

Long ago someone told me about “the gratitude game”. It seemed like an easy game but it wasn’t so easy to play. I was to go through the alphabet from A to Z and think of something I was grateful for beginning with each letter. There were a few big problems with the way I played.

First of all, I knew very little about the Lord and the ...

But That Looks So Tempting!

I knew what God wanted me to do. I had prayed and prayed and sought Him and heard Him and sought Him more to be sure and felt really clear about His will for me with something super big in my life and ministry. But one day I saw a flyer advertising something that seemed like it could be a really good alternative to God’s will.

Seemed my life could be so much easier, comfortable, more manageable, and that there would be way fewer risks and challenges if I lay God’s will aside and fell for the...

The Key to Passing God’s Tests

After years of desperately wanting to please God but failing miserably in passing so many of the tests He has given me, I was delighted to at long last have a day of sweet victory. The reason for all the years of failure and for that blessed day of victory I share with you now.

I failed time and again for years because I tried to exert myself in my human weakness apart from God as though I needed to prove myself to God and pass His tests without Him.

That day of victory, I calle...

Repenting for Un-thankfulness

Day #29 of my Big Thanksgiving Challenge. Excerpted from my 100 Days of Thanksgiving Devotional-Journal which you can order when you CLICK HERE.Repenting for Un-thankfulness

I used to think repenting means we simply say sorry to God and ask for His forgiveness. Then we feel good because He forgives us. Then we go back to the wrong we were doing because we can’t help it of course or at least I couldn’t anyway. Then we ask Him to forgive us again. An endless circle of saying sorry and returning o...

Thankful in Retrospect

Day #27 of my Big Thanksgiving Challenge. Excerpted from my 100 Days of Thanksgiving Devotional-Journal which you can order when you CLICK HERE.Thankful in Retrospect

At times I have looked back at my life and seen that the very things, circumstances, people, relationships, challenges, trials, tribulations, struggles, hurdles, obstacles, hard times, brokenness, world events, etc. that I felt so miserable about I allowed to keep me in a place of bondage to myself wherein I missed amazing opportu...
