Praying with Thanksgiving
Something I find totally wild when it comes to praying is how God calls us to pray of all things WITH THANKSGIVING. Doesn’t it seem strange to you that God wants us to pray WITH THANKSGIVING when we don’t even know if He will answer our prayers the way we want Him to answer them? Why, and how, can we pray like this? I personall...

Staying Thankful
Being thankful is one thing. Staying thankful is another, isn’t it? It is for me anyway. Sometimes I find my heart so filled with Thanksgiving to God. Then I allow myself to get weighed down with struggles, stresses, worries, troubles, challenges, etc. Next thing I know there isn’t an ounce of Thanksgiving in my heart let alone coming ou...

Don’t Let the Devil Do This
Out of seemingly nowhere I heard these words inside my heart, and I am quite sure since they line up with the Bible and given how I was feeling at the time that the Holy Spirit had spoken this strong encouragement.
“Don’t let the devil trample all over you,” He said. “Trample over him.”
Then a few more words came. “Don’t listen to his lies,” the Holy Spirit told me. “Believe my Truth [i.e. the Bible].”
In his mission to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), the devil goes to any lengths to lie ...
More than Words
I believe with all my heart there is a way to practice Thanksgiving to God on an ongoing basis that is far greater than merely telling God over and again, “Thank you God! Thank you God!” Oh, most assuredly, I believe we should absolutely tell the Lord regularly how much we love Him and how thankful we are to Him for Him first and foremost...

When Pride Prevents Thanksgiving
When we’re proud in our hearts, our words, and our actions, all of which is sin, we pat ourselves on the back and magnify ourselves and take the glory for the good in our lives. We think, say, and act like it’s our hard work, it’s our accomplishments, it’s our resumes, it’s our connections, it’s our provision, etc. that r...

Being Thankful
If there is any place in my life that needs constant cleansing, growth, refining, purification, and transformation, it’s my mind! I have such a very long history of negativity, complaining, whining, self-pity, criticism, pride, judgment, condemnation, discouragement, self-centeredness, etc. it’s a wonder the Lord ever picked someone like...

Paralyzed Dog’s 4th Miracle
When my beloved special needs ministry dog Miss Mercy was hit by probably a truck about 10 years ago and left paralyzed in an animal shelter, God had saved her life after the accident. Miss Mercy was likely headed for euthanization in the rural shelter given her paralysis and the pet overpopulation epidemic, but God gave her another miracle when He sent me from about 5 hours away to pick her up and take her under my wing and to become an instrumental part of my streets / hotel / beach ministry w...
Being Thankful
Have you ever expressed being thankful to someone even though in your heart you didn’t feel thankful? In other words, have you felt obligated to say thank you to be polite but were anything but thankful inside of you? Like you just wanted to get the “thank you” over with and move on with your life? Whether or not that person could tell you...
My Bathroom Light Story
When I stayed in the same hotel room at the same hotel several times while in the area for my ministry work, I never thought twice about the bathroom light. The then hotel manager had been in the room, housekeeping had been in the room, and maintenance had been in the room. Nobody said a thing about the light. Then management changed, and a corporate manager came into my room to help with something. He kindly asked if I minded if he would take care of my bathroom light. How so?
He wanted to clea...

Thankful for the Giver!
A loved one long ago warned me to not be more focused on the gifts than the Giver, but truth is I have done that more times than I care to remember. Of course we should be exceedingly thankful for every single blessing God bestows upon us on this earth. But there is truly no greater gift, no greater blessing, than God Himself, th...
