When Only God Can See
A loved one essentially told me long ago we only see the little picture; God sees the whole picture. How true this is. And I can’t tell you how many times in my life and ministry God has called me to do something that makes absolutely no sense, seems impossible, looks ridiculous, etc. because with my human eyes I simply can’t see God’s will, His plan, His purpose, how things are going to unfold, how things are going to turn out, how I am going to make it, etc. But God has so clearly spoken to my...

When People Don’t Say Thank You
Have you ever gone really far out of your way, made a big sacrifice, and had great hope and expectation in giving someone a gift? Hoping and expecting the person would super appreciate your love, kindness, and generosity – and give you a big THANK YOU? I know. We’re supposed to be so loving and giving that we don’t care about getting a Thank You. But if you’re honest with yourself, don’t you sometimes want to get some appreciation, or at the very least acknowledgement, of what you gave? If I’m h...

Another Big Update from Lara
Praise the Lord! Some people go to extremes. I definitely do and always have in so many ways. Including when it comes to writing books for the Lord. While I am still settling in to the New Jersey / New York City area as my latest location on the road for Jesus full-time with my special needs ministry dogs in what is now just under 5 years, I am thrilled to share that I have just finished writing and am now editing what by God’s grace only will be my 14th book – if I did my math right! Yes, I don...
Are You “Moved with Compassion”?
I love how Jesus in His time on earth was described not merely as being compassionate but as being “moved with compassion.” He didn’t merely feel love, mercy, kindness, care, concern, and sorrow etc. for people in need. He was “moved with compassion” whereby He ACTED on His compassion to help others.
In obeying God’s greatest commands to love Him with all our hearts and to love one another, we, too, should be “moved with compassion”.
It is one thing for our hearts to be filled with love, mercy, ...

God’s Stepping Stones
I think of stepping stones as little stones people step upon as part of the pathway to get to their ultimate destination. We may think they’re not important, but they’re actually very important because they are necessary for us to get from our starting place to the place we intend to go.
Stepping stones aid along the way. Each stepping stone has a significance and a place and purpose in the journey and should not be thought of us as meaningless. We should be thankful for all the stepping stones ...
Say YES to God!
I was brushing my teeth or my hair, I can’t remember which, i.e. doing something totally trivial, when something flashed in my heart. A thought, that was all. Right? Wrong. I realized almost immediately the Holy Spirit had placed something in my heart. God’s will for me with something. And my response was immediate. No! Resistance! Rebellion! It didn’t last long. Maybe 10 seconds or so. Because now, at long last, I know better than this. I spent years calling myself a believer in the Lord Jesus ...
Our Weakness, God’s Strength
I once wrote a devotional message called “The Weakest Woman in the World”. I was referring to myself of course. Sure there are probably lots of weak people around the world. But I am so incredibly, incredibly weak in so many ways. The wonderful news is God’s strength is perfected in what? Our weakness! I am so thrilled, and so over-the-top thankful to the Lord, for HIS STRENGTH which is such a huge, huge part of my life every single day. I believe with all my heart the best thing we can do, whic...

So Thankful for Joy
For years I was a miserable woman. I was filled with hurt, sorrow, grief, bitterness, complaining, self-pity, negativity etc., and this was all coupled with loads of drama and trying to drag everyone into my troubles. Every once in a while I would have a few sprinkles of joy on top of my mountain of misery, but the joy was fleeting. If it’s possible to be addicted to misery, I think I was. Now mind you I have had tons of really hard stuff in my life. But I have since learned that joy is possible...
