God, Won't You Give Me a Peek?

Fixing the dogs’ dinner, and that’s quite a feat considering there are 16 Walk by Faith Ministry dogs that all eat different amounts, different foods, and get different medications in some of their dishes, I decided to multi-task by engaging God in conversation. I pressed into Him for the umpteenth time to see if He wanted me to do anything about a decades-long situation that I had prayed, and hoped, would be long since resolved. As I measured out the dogs' food and tried to keep track of all...

If the World Stops Watching You - Ready for a Challenge?

Mind if I ask you a few questions? Good, you know me. Or, maybe you don't. So here's the deal. I love to ask questions. It keeps people on their toes, me included. So here goes. What would you do if the world stopped watching you? Seriously. If you knew that not a person in the world saw, or heard, anything you do, or don't do, or say, or don't say, or think or neglect to think, would you do the right thing anyway? If the world stopped watching you, would you do what God's calling you to do a...

Climbing Trees for Christ

Would you climb a tree for Jesus? Just how high would you climb? If you're as short as Zaccheus was, you wouldn't hesitate to climb a tree if Jesus came to town. When Jesus went to Jericho, Zaccheus, the wealthy highest up tax collector, was too short to see Jesus in the great crowd. So he got creative, and ambitious, and desperate. He climbed a tree. Guess what Jesus did.

The Million Dollar Donation !!

One of my ministry's sponsors gave an extra donation this month, and along with it an apology. "I wish it could have been a million dollars," she told me. Little did she know. It was not the amount of her donation that mattered, but it was that she gave from her heart and expressed her confidence in the work I am doing for the Lord. God can do anything with that seed sown from her heart, and Jesus Christ Himself set the precedent for this lesson long ago when a widow woman tossed a couple of...

How God Replied to My Groan

"What's the matter with me?" I groaned. I wouldn't have minded shrieking, but I'm working on the volume of my voice. It can get a little out of control, and I have come to believe God gave me my voice for His glory - not for me to raise my voice with frustration, impatience, and the whole nine yards. But still. I couldn't help the groan. After all, I planned to write today. And nothing, absolutely nothing, nothing of any value anyway, was coming off of my fingers on my keyboard - let alone ou...

God Put Me in Time Out - Need One?

"Go lie down," God spoke to me. His answer was clear. So was mine.

"But God - "

God, being the perfect gentleman, didn't retort, "Don't give me no lip, girlfriend."

God, being perfectly loving and perfectly patient, waited while His Holy Spirit convicted me. This time, it didn't take any words. I knew what I needed to do.
Paralyzed dog Mr. Simeon gave me the look, "Mom, take me on a walk." My flesh wanted to do just that. Which way should I go? Go lie down? Or take a walk? After years of throwing...

Your Perfect Father

If you have ever been wounded by your father, you probably know that one of the hardest things in the world to do is to trust in a loving Father. Perhaps this is why the Lord admonishes us in the Bible not to call anyone on earth our “father”.
photo courtesy of wondermar via pixabay.comFor this is exactly what He wants to be to us. He wants to be our loving Father. Once we come to learn about God and who He really is, we see that there is truly no comparison between our Father in heaven and ou...

Trouble Staying Focused? Establish Yourself

ESTABLISH YOURSELF. DON'T LOOK TO THE RIGHT OR THE LEFT. When I scribbled these words with my bright purple pen in my "God's Notebook," I didn't think much of it. But I knew if it was God really speaking to me, I would find confirmation in the Bible. God never speaks against His own Word. I also knew if this message truly came from God, He would have to explain Himself. For I had no clue what "establishing myself" meant, nor did I figure it had anything to do with "not looking to the rig...

The Jesus Diet - Lose the Weight

You've heard it all before, haven't you? This diet. That diet. Whichever diet. Diet, diet, diet. Lose weight this way. That way. Any way. Just lose it. Just do it, right? Which diets have you tried? Which one will you try next? And will you keep the weight off? Let me give you a disclaimer with the diet I'm about to recommend to you. I'm not an expert - at all. I've had a longtime history of an on-again, off-again eating disorder. So by all means don't consider me a pro. I may not be an exper...

Is It Time to Walk Away?

A friend of mine decades ago was flabbergasted, to say the least, as he relayed to me how he had seen me on a sidewalk in New York City with the tall, dark, and explosive man I was dating as the man bent over me with such extreme rage that it looked as though he was moments, and inches, away from hitting me. The friend couldn't understand how I would stay right there as the man hacked away at me with his verbal venom, let alone how I could stay in such a relationship. I did not know the Lord,...
