Beautiful Day, Beautiful God

“Focus on me, dear one,” the Holy Spirit of God spoke to my heart as I finished up a little walk with Him.

Immediately these words came to me as I turned my head slightly upward and regarded the morning sky.

Beautiful day, beautiful God!

Frankly, I had been so caught up in my feelings about a very challenging matter that I had not really noticed the beautiful day nor genuinely rejoiced over God and His unfathomable beauty.

But when the Lord prompted me to shift my focus away from the hard stuff...

Biggest Life Change Ever

The biggest life change we can ever make – and SHOULD make – is this.

STOP living for self according to the world’s ways – and START living for the Lord Jesus Christ according to God’s ways.

A relationship with God on earth and forever in heaven instead of spending forever in hell and the lake of fire is for those who TURN from a lifestyle of sin, believe in Jesus as Lord and in His death and resurrection, and surrender themselves to His lordship and rule and reign in their lives.

Have you made ...

Donation Receipts for 2023

Hi Everyone,

Thanks so incredibly much to those who lovingly & generously donated to my Good News Ministry in 2023.

I have an old-fashioned bookkeeping system & no staff, so each year I let everyone know I would be happy to provide receipts upon request for tax purposes & simply ask for patience as I prepare and send out the receipts!

If you need a receipt, please email me at lara@GoodNews.love.

Thank you!

love & blessings,

lara

Distracted from God

We live in a world filled with distractions, and seems there are more distractions than ever. The biggest problem with distractions and getting distracted is that if we are not careful we can get distracted from God and an intimate personal relationship with Him.

If we are not cautious, we can get distracted from spending time alone in His presence reading the Bible and loving, worshiping, praising, praying to, pouring out our hearts to, honoring, adoring, experiencing, enjoying, seeking, and he...

Distracted from God

We live in a world filled with distractions, and seems there are more distractions than ever. The biggest problem with distractions and getting distracted is not that we get distracted from our earthly pleasures and treasures in the form of people, places, and things we love and desire. It is that if we are not careful we get distracted from God and a deeply personal intimate relationship with Him.

What matters most in life is not the blessings God bestows upon us. But it is the Lord Jesus Chris...

3 Powerful Lessons on Fear

I used to be terribly upset with myself for struggling with fear, worry, and anxiety. But God has taught me 3 powerful lessons on fear that I hope will be a great encouragement to you!

The fact God tells us hundreds of times in the Bible NOT to fear shows us that He knows we will experience fear at times and simply need to be reminded to turn away from it and to turn to Him!I begged God countless times to permanently take away my anxiety but when He did not answer my prayer I realized battling...

Driven By Fear, Worry, & Anxiety

Don’t be driven by fear, worry and anxiety. Be led by God.

Don’t make your decisions based on fear, worry, and anxiety.

Make your decisions based on the will of God.

The devil loves to use fear, worry, and anxiety to tempt us to make impulsive, ungodly, negative, dangerous, destructive, and sometimes even deadly decisions.

The devil wants us to bow down to him and to be driven by fear, worry, and anxiety because they will turn us away from the Lord Jesus Christ and His will for us.

Jesus Christ ...

Trying to Get Around God’s Will

Early in the morning. Lying in bed. A great night’s sleep, such a rarity. So drowsy. Drifting. Perhaps back to sleep. But stopped by some thoughts. About something I had sensed for some time God wanted me to do in my ministry work. But I felt maxed out as it was. I felt I didn’t need a single other thing to do. I had the perfect solution.

I would get around what I sensed was His will. I would tiptoe around it and leave it behind. Simply get on with my life. God wouldn’t notice, right? Wouldn’t m...

When Mothers Don’t Protect Their Children

What an unfathomable tragedy it is when mothers don’t protect children from the neglect, mistreatment, and abuse by their husbands (or other men in their lives). When they look the other way and pretend it’s not happening. When they deny what is happening when the children come to them for help. When the children are adults and they keep on denying what transpired. When they don’t confront their husbands and the situations and provide protection and help and healing and safety for their children...

Humiliation or Humility?

Decades ago before I was a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ I told a woman who was mentoring me how humiliated I had been when I was in an emergency room for a life-threatening eating disorder. Given my dehydration, I was on an IV to get fluids in me. Due to all the fluids, I had to pee over and over and over. Using a bed pan. She pointed out that maybe my experience wasn’t about humiliation. Maybe it was about learning humility.

All these years later, as a totally devoted Jesus follower, I rea...
