Don’t Let Your Feelings Reign

“This feels so fresh and free,” I thought concerning  a possible decision in my ministry writing. But the Holy Spirit caught me quickly. He gave me a reminder – and gave me this message.

We are not to live for self but to live for the Lord. We are not to bow down to the flesh but to bow down to the Lord. We are not to let our feelings reign but to yield to the reign of Christ.

The Lord will allow us to let our emotions rule and reign as they take up residence on the throne of our hearts and live...

An Apology Ain’t Enough

I’m sorry Father!” I exclaimed to the Lord. What had I done? I don’t even remember. But I do know this. His Holy Spirit who dwells inside His followers replied quickly – and strongly.

“Sorry isn’t enough. You need to make the change.”

I read somewhere long ago essentially that true repentance involves a change of heart so genuine that it results in a change in action.

For years, I asked the Lord to forgive me for the same behaviors I jumped right back into. I don’t know how bad I felt in the fir...

When God Already Answered

I was seeking the Lord one early morning about something when He reminded me He had ALREADY ANSWERED! He had ALREADY TOLD ME WHAT TO DO! But there I was desperately seeking Him to give me instructions! He had already spoken to my heart by His Spirit who always and only speaks in line with the Bible. I had been clear about the instructions in His answer to my seeking Him. But instead of trusting Him, receiving His instructions, and simply going ahead and following Him, I was seeking Him like He h...

Those Stinky Old Sneakers

There is nothing quite like an old pair of totally worn, a hole-here-and-there, somewhat stinky old sneakers that you can’t imagine tossing out because they’re familiar, comfy, and have been part of your life and wardrobe for oh so long. Even when you go out and buy a new pair of sneakers which you know will be much better for your feet and your life going forward, you still find yourself going to the back of your closet and pulling out the stinky old ones.

Friend, when we turn from our sins and...

I Swear This Isn’t Sin!

Ever been totally convinced something you’re doing isn’t sin? Looked around you and seen lots of other people doing the same thing without an ounce of guilt or sense of wrongdoing in their own eyes or anyone else’s? The government has declared it legal? The media writes and talks about it like it’s the most normal, socially acceptable thing imaginable? Teachers in the classrooms refer to it as perfectly fine? Maybe even your beloved family and closest friends say it’s totally alright and absolut...

Rest, My Weary One

“Rest, my weary one,” the Holy Spirit spoke gently to my heart. I had been working exceedingly hard in my ministry work which is typical for me, and being on the road for Jesus full-time and caring for my 4 handicapped ministry dogs adds to the exhaustion. He knew what I needed. Time away from my work which I so love given my unbelievable love and passion for Him and my enormous zeal for helping people find and follow Him. People had been warning me I needed rest as they had seen me burn out in ...

Come Away with Jesus!

“Come away my beloved,” the Lord spoke to my heart pointing me to a verse in the Bible’s Old Testament.

He was letting me know loud and clear I needed to step away from my ministry work I so love and my beloved handicapped ministry dogs to spend time alone with Him. To love and worship and pray to and seek and listen to and enjoy the presence of my number one love, my beloved, my precious Lord and Savior, redeemer and master, friend and Father, husband and teacher, comforter, my counselor and he...

Caught in a Storm

I was caught in a rainstorm. It was a wonderful relief from the brutal heat, but I was walking paralyzed ministry dog Mr. Simeon in his wheelchair and didn’t want either of us to end up sopping wet. We sheltered under some beautiful, old oak trees, then hurried over to other trees that blessedly provided a denser covering.

We WILL face storms in this life. We WILL face trials and tribulations. We WILL face great challenges. We WILL face hurts, hardships, losses, tragedies, deaths, sickness, econ...

Don’t Leave Before It’s Time

If the Lord has made clear to you that He is leading you to something new, someone new, and/or somewhere new, DO NOT LEAVE WHERE YOU ARE NOW BEFORE IT IS TIME. Stay where you are until you know the Lord has told you to go. Do not leave too soon. Do not leave before it is God’s time. Seek Him until you know HIS WILL and until you know HIS TIME. He will give you the wisdom you need in the Bible, by His Spirit speaking directly to your heart in line with His Word who lives inside His followers, and...
