Into the Deep

Is God calling you to do something that seems too hard, too scary, even downright impossible? Is He calling you to launch out into the deep and you’re resisting Him and His will for you because the shallow water feels so much safer, more secure, familiar, manageable, easier, more comfortable, and possible? Do you have a zillion reasons in your heart why there is just no way you’re going to obey Him at least this time around with this particular thing? Friend, IN THE STRENGTH OF CHRIST for THE GL...

Put Your Whole Heart In It

Know what the Lord told me to do one day concerning a big project? Unbelievable. Incredible. How could He possibly say this? Can you believe it? He said this:

“Put your whole heart into writing it,” His Holy Spirit who inhabits His followers told me.

Why should I put my whole heart into it? How could He ask this of me? I knew my history. I might end up putting my whole heart in it, going absolutely all out, working myself to the extreme, laboring immensely, going to any lengths, doing my very be...

Please and Thank You

I was not raised by parents who believed in the Lord, but they whom I dearly love were vehement about teaching us manners like saying please and thank you to them and others. With people I minded my manners at least outwardly in word but not always in my selfish heart. But for a long time after I became a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, devastatingly I did not take the lesson to heart with Him. I wonder if you can relate.

I came under the false prosperity gospel / name-it-claim-it teaching fo...

Invisible Faith

Can people see your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ? IF you believe in Jesus Christ as Lord, and live your life accordingly, people whether family, friends, co-workers, classmates, teammates, strangers, business owners, customer service reps on the phone, sales people, babysitters, coaches, teachers, waitresses, contractors, jell cellmates, homeless shelter dorm-mates, etc., should be able to see and hear your faith in your words and actions.

I have heard people essentially say it is enough for p...

Putting Out Fires

My dear pastor who has since gone to be with Jesus gave the sheep with which the Lord had entrusted him a wonderful nugget of wisdom for which I give the Lord the glory as I know my pastor would have done. The Lord has since helped me to deepen my understanding of this wisdom. He said the devil will try to get us to rush around putting out “fires”.

Why would the devil want us to hurry and scurry around putting out “fires”? Why would he want us to run in one direction to deal with some big drama?...

What I Told My Paralyzed Dog

“I spend a tremendous amount of time loving and taking care of you, Mr. Simeon, and you still whine,” I told paralyzed ministry doggy Mr. Simeon as I knelt down by my hotel bed upon which he was perched.

“Oh,” I then said. “I better go write that.” I had thought I was finished writing for that day. But not so with a message like this one. I felt strongly compelled to go back to my computer. To write the message I now share with you.

I had had yet another tough day with him. I did about 20 years ...

Hurry Up God!

God doesn’t just have a perfect will. He has perfect timing for His perfect will. God is, after all, perfect. In every single way. Including with how He times absolutely everything. Trouble is for some of us prone to impatience, ahem, myself very much included, we can find ourselves thinking and even saying, “Hurry up, God!” Ever consider what is behind this mentality?

Impatience, of course. But what else? Pride! We think we know better than God! Horrible, horrible pride. And what else? Fear! So...

Abominable in God’s Eyes

I don’t hear the word abomination used much in modern day America, but it is a strong and powerful word in the Bible referring to how the Lord views certain sin. A little research online shows various definitions and understandings of the word, but suffice it to say something called abominable is considered to be horrible, horrific, disgusting, sickening, atrocious, deeply disapproved of, etc. Do you want to know one thing that is an abomination in the eyes of the Lord with which I believe we al...

Devoted to Donuts

Decades ago when I was a little girl, the big deal when it came to donuts was going to Dunkin’ Donuts and picking out the most deliciously yummy looking and tasting donuts. Or buying delectably chocolate-y Entenmann’s brand donuts my Mom bought the family at the grocery store. I don’t have a great memory, but how could I forget these? Decades later now, times have changed when it comes to donuts. Imagine my surprise when I was walking my ministry wheelchair dogs one day and discovered something ...

Miss Negativity

I honestly think I must have been one of the most negative people who ever walked the face of this earth. Negative, complaining, self-pitying, drama-ridden, sickeningly self-centered, on and on it went. The Lord has been transforming me for years now. Now I can say I’m Miss Positivity and never fall back into that horrible sin, right? WRONG! I do sometimes fall when I’m not careful, and now the sin I once didn’t care about because I was so exceedingly self-consumed and loved to justify and excus...
