4 Necessities in Following Christ
“Help me to trust you, oh Lord. Help me to obey you. Help me to be humble. Oh Lord! Help me to be totally surrendered to you in writing and all things!” I prayed.
Friend, these are 4 vital necessities for a Christ follower.
Trust. Obedience. Humility. Total surrender.
Do you trust fully in the Lord? Are you living in wholehearted obedience to Him? Do you humble yourself continually? Are you wholly surrendered to the Lord Jesus Christ? There is room for growth in us all, is there not?
These neces...
Pleasing Jesus
I don’t like my attitude, I thought as I sat at my little hotel desk with my laptop trying to do some ministry work. Ugh. I knew I needed to stop my work. And repent. Wasn’t so very long ago I would have had a bad attitude and justified it. Excused it. And kept right on with whatever I was doing. I would have held onto that bad attitude for dear life. I would have clung to it. Not so anymore.
Now I hold onto the Lord Jesus Christ and the Bible for dear life. I cling to Him. I want to please Jesu...
Captivating Thoughts
Thoughts can be captivating! Dictionary.com defines captivating as “to attract and hold the attention or interest of”. When we repent and receive Jesus Christ as Lord, we are still human beings with flesh and wrong thoughts and desires. We can find our thoughts filled with sexual immorality, hatred, bitterness, hurt, rejection, selfishness, self-centeredness, self-pity, worry, vengeance, anger, pride, etc. All sin against God. When our thoughts, words, and actions are not pleasing to God, we nee...
Wait Until God Answers
It was just a little thing in the grand scheme of things. I was trying to figure out whether I should go to the beach with the ministry’s wheelchair dogs one morning. It was already quite warm outside and would be getting much hotter. If I left quickly, I would beat the worst of the heat. In the past, I would have just rushed ahead with what I felt like doing or with what I thought maybe just maybe the Lord wanted me to do. But this time, I waited. And He answered. He made clear in my heart I wa...

Fake Faith
Watch out for fake faith. I have seen two kinds over the years, and there may well be more. When I was under the false teaching known as name it-claim it / prosperity gospel, I was taught we could essentially wave our magic wands at God and have anything we wanted if we had enough faith.
We were taught to never “confess” anything we didn’t want or we would end up with it. For example, if I said, “I am catching a cold,” I was told I would end up with a cold. I knew two women under that false teac...
Hard Promises from God
I don’t know about you, but I think of promises as good, happy, wonderful things to look forward to, don’t you? Whether pertaining to the secular world or to the Lord Jesus Christ and the Bible, aren’t all promises supposed to be pleasant, pleasing, pleasurable, lovely, exciting, and thrillingly fulfilling? Honestly, in my years following Jesus so far, I can only recall hearing any discussion of promises as referring to things that are favorable and positive and worthy of great thanksgiving and ...
Grow Me, Oh God!
“…“Make me into the woman you want me to be,” I wrote the Lord in prayer. “ Change me, grow me, refine me, purify me, conform me to yourself, oh how I need you Lord! Please finish what you started in me. You’ve done so much already, but I need so very much more. Oh help me, Lord! AMEN!”
When we turn from our sins, believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and in His death and resurrection, turning to God and His ways, we receive His forgiveness and the promise of everlasting life, His Holy Spirit comes to...
Don’t Leave Yet
Do not leave where God has sent you nor stop doing what God has called you to do until you are clear God has called you to do so.
Ministry is service to the Lord and others in His name, and all who call Jesus Lord are to serve Him as His Holy Spirit leads us and empowers us to do so.
We are not to serve according to our fleshly wishes, ways, wants, and will but according to His will and His timing for His glory.
Seek the Lord. Pray. Read the Bible. Ask for and receive and be filled with and led ...
God’s Gifts, God’s Glory
I love, love, love to write and have loved writing since I was a little girl! What a beautiful blessing from the Lord that I get to use the gift of writing He has given to me bring glory to His name! Are you using the gifts He has given you to love, serve, and glorify Him? Oh, please do!
Lord, years ago you led me to repentance regarding my work life because I was working for self not for you. I had used writing for years for the devil, myself, and the world not for you. Today, Lord, I am totall...
