The Most Marvelous Adventures: Creating a reading list

From StephanieFishman.com:

Keep Reading: StephanieFishman.com

I’ve been inspired to look for the adventure in life this year. We can’t all afford to go off on jaunts across the globe, but we can afford to read about them. A good library card or local used bookstore makes adventure affordable. Books allow us to explore the world, learn new things, and just get lost. I’m getting lost this year. Are you?

3 Areas of Intentional Living

From StephanieFishman.com:

After taking a long look at my life and work, I’ve come to one conclusion. I’m out of whack. My priorities seem good, but each circle of my life is pulling at another. I don’t have balance. To fix this, I’m going to focus on 3 areas of intentional living: home, work, and play.

Why did I pick 3 areas? Because it’s small.

It’s manageable.

It’s a number that most of us are used to dealing with: 3 meals, 3 colors on a traffic light, 3 dogs… oh wait, that’s just my house.

Act...

Words or Weapons: Do you mean what you say?

From StephanieFishman.com:

Spend any time on social media or with any varied group of people, and you’ll end up eventually seeing a clash of ideas. Whether it’s based on an event, a political move, or even a parenting style, people will take two sides of a fight and make the dust stir. When the arguments start, I’m shocked at what I see. Are your words representing you as you intend? Do you mean what you say?Words or Weapsons: Do you mean what you say? I StephanieFishman.com

Hiding behind a computer or tablet, it’s easy to let our emotions get carried away. We...

Book Review: Pentecost by J.F. Penn

From StephanieFishman.com:

Please read my disclosure statement for more information.

As a writer who is making my way into fiction projects, I often find it interesting to learn how readers become connected with authors. I’ve become fans of some of my favorites through the recommendations of friends and family. Goodreads is a great way to discover new titles and authors as well. I’ve even been lucky enough to meet some as friends in the homeschool community on...

Live Intentionally: Setting Goals

From StephanieFishman.com:

Our world moves fast. The availability of social media and the internet means that we can have instant access to anyone anytime and from anywhere. Cell phones ring and tablets give others the instant access to us, and us to them, no matter day or time. These brilliant technological developments allow us to work from home or in other non-traditional ways. However, it can also get distracting. It’s more crowded and more chaotic. It can distract us from our goals and ge...

Creating a Slow Life in a Fast Race

From StephanieFishman.com:

I don’t like where my life is headed. There. I said it. I’m not sure when it happened, but my world became more about transitioning through circumstance than creating a slow life that allows me to truly experience the adventure I’m taking. I really want that to change, and I believe it can.

God built me with great passions and great focus. He gave me a great drive. Unfortunately, I did not get the handy timer that seems to sit inside the brain of those who are able to...

On the Go: Family History Research Guides on Kindle

From StephanieFishman.com:

When it comes time for family history research, I need flexibility. Having a shelf full of books is fabulous, but not when I am researching on site or even at Panera while I’m waiting for my daughter. I need my research guides and tools to be close at hand, even when I’m not researching from home. How close is your research toolbox? When it’s on your Kindle, it’s anywhere you are!

Use That Kindle

I absolutely love using my Kindle as a research tool. No, I don’t have an...

Writing Challenges, Lessons & What’s Next

From StephanieFishman.com:

Writing is an integral part of my life and is quite connected to my happiness (just ask my husband on a day when I’m kept from it.) I’m blessed to be surrounded by creative individuals who use words to share their imaginations with others. One of these wonderful beings is our youngest daughter. Recently, she challenged me to fall in love with fiction again. She challenged me to participate in National Novel Writing Month. My 16-year-old daughter stepped out of her co...

3 Places to Find a Little Motivation Mojo

From StephanieFishman.com:

3 Places to Find a Little Motivation Mojo

Sometimes we need do the work when we don’t really feel like it.

You’ve been there: the tank is empty but you know you still have to keep moving forward. It could be because you are coming up dry when you search for new ideas to write or research. Or, you could have all the ideas in the world but feel like you just don’t have the talent or drive that you need.

That’s when you need to reach out to those who motivate you so you can find a little motivation mojo.

I’ve got...
