The Tides Of Heaven

I would encourage you today, to pray for someone you know that has a need. Even if you are going through a storm yourself, praying for someone else, will make a difference. It is by God’s design, the engine of change in this world.
It intercedes first and foremost for someone you love. Prayer petitions Heaven to move in their need. God may have placed them on your heart, to answer through your prayer, their need.
Second, often it reveals that your hands and feet may be God’s agent in their situation. Perhaps something you have, or can do, will meet their need. Even if it’s only a text of encouragement, or a small gift to say you care, it means so much.
Thirdly, it empowers you to speak into someone else’s life. I strongly believe, and have seen the evidence of what prayer can do. I have been in situations where, prayer and only prayer, turned disaster into victory. Physically, financially, mentally, emotionally, and relationally, I have seen it happen.
It can also reassure you about your situation. Praying for others helps to lessen that sense of helplessness we may feel about our situation. While we may not be able to do certain things, we can do the most important thing. You and I can pray for others.
Finally, it reminds us that not only is God active in their situation, He has someone interceding for us. I have seen so many times where others were totally unselfish, putting needs before their own. I have also watched God meet their needs while they worked to meet another’s needs.
You cannot intercede for someone, without God both rewarding it, and enacting someone else to intercede for you. Prayer is not a dry, one way conversation. It is the current of the tides of Heaven.
God places someone on your heart, you petition His throne, He answers, while laying your need on the heart of another. When we plunge into the River of prayer, we fill up not only our nets, but the nets of those around us.
In this day we live in, there are no shortage of opportunities to pray. We must only look around us to see an opportunity. I pray we will seize the moment, and intercede for our brothers and sisters daily. I know someone is praying for me, and I’m praying for someone.

Sketch Rabbits Foot

The thing that I always think about, concerning a rabbit’s foot is something an old comedian said. It wasn’t lucky for the rabbit. What fascinates me about rabbit’s feet are the ones that don’t become key chains, the ones who got away.
God put agility and speed in these small, cute creatures. They may look timid, and be the pattern for chocolate bunnies, but watch them run. It reminds me that God places gifts in all of us that can swiftly help us to overcome, or outrun what we’re facing.
Outpacing your challenges is not luck, but a gift from God. The Psalmist said by my God have I ran through a troop, and leaped over a wall. Goliath thought David was as harmless as a bunny too, until the truth hit him.

Sketch Raccoon By A Tree

They say raccoons are almost as commonly found by trash cans as they are trees. Yet have you ever noticed, you don’t see many trash can images? It’s not pretty, but raccoons find something valuable in what we discard.
How many times, have we thrown away potential, dreams, or possibilities because something stained it? I don’t mean physically of course, but emotionally. Mentally how often have we decided we can’t, when we faced opposition? Please let me encourage you, there’s still value in some things you’ve given up on. Just ask the smiling raccoons.
Watercolor Dapple Gray

I love all horses, but the dapple gray ones are among my favorites. There’s something about the grayish coat, topped with gray spots, that are so beautiful. It reminds me that God can create beauty in unexpected places, with limited hues.
Perhaps you have a situation that is so personal, you only see gray skies, topped by a set of grayer circumstances? I would encourage you to take it to Jesus. He can make snow white, your dapple gray problem.

iPainting Give Me Your Tired

“Give me your tired, …” the wonderful things about the words of this incredible poem tied to Lady Liberty, is that it speaks to every American. There have been times in our country when tiredness hit.
Washington was no doubt tired at Valley Forge. Abraham Lincoln was tired after years of war. Roosevelt felt it, but one look at our freedoms, our purpose, and the unique God given gift we have, and they were revived.
Washington received the strength needed, not only to win the American Revolution, but to lead the country as President for two terms. Lincoln received the strength to comfort a weary nation at Gettysburg. President Roosevelt received the strength to inspire America to go beyond his lifetime.
I offer no political opinion. I make no argument. Instead I offer this hope, it’s the same hope I was taught as a young man, with Lady Liberty and the American Flag in my mind’s view. “One nation under God, indivisible, with liliberty, and justice for all.” At this refresh all Americans, as it has our greatest Americans who went before.
