iPainting Lion On The Path

The Lion has been a symbol of countless kingdoms, chiefs, and peoples. The most important being The Lion Of The Tribe Of Judah. What an amazing animal God created, it still fascinates me.

New Art Book

Today, my newest Art book, Art For Grizzly Bears, is available in Paperback and Kindle eBook @ www.amazon.com/author/pruittwrites. It’s a collection of images that reflect my faith, nature, portraits, and the holidays.

It’s based on a Scripture from the book of Job, reflecting the amazing creation that God spoke into existence. What’s incredible is that, in every corner, there is detail that only God could design. I hope you enjoy “Art For Grizzly Bears”.

View From The ER Parking Lot

Psalms 56:3-4 (ESV)
3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
4 In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?

This iPainting above, was done at a very scary time, in an unusual location. It’s called the view from an ER parking lot, because that’s where I was when I had painted. My wife was inside, with complications from surgery, and because of our times, I couldn’t be with her.

After prayer, I occupied myself with this. It helped, not only pass time, but calm my nerves. I couldn’t be where I wanted to be, I had to trust in God, and those He had given understanding too, to help my wife. I focused on getting shapes right, and patterns.

There are times in our live, we all feel helpless. Whether it’s sickness, financial problems, or uncertainty. It can be terrifying, but it can also be a time where you step into a peace that only God can grant.

This doesn’t mean I wasn’t scared about my Wife. It means that when I am afraid I will trust in God. The next verse, the same man who feared said, in God I trust, I shall not be afraid. His peace doesn’t leave us when we’re afraid, it wraps us like a Father in His arms.

Only God, and all of our loved ones that He used through this time could have brought us through. We left that parking lot, there were two ER trips, and a visit to the surgeon, but we left. We’re safely, and happily home. She’s recovering, and I’ll probably never see that red car again.

However I’ll have a memento, not of the fear, but the favor of God. They were called landmarks years ago. Reminders of God’s blessings, which stayed there the next time a storm happened. It’s easier to get through a storm, when you’ve been through a storm.

So when you’re scared, like I was, let me suggest something. When you’re afraid those you love are in danger, let me offer a hope. First, pray to The God of peace, for peace. Then make a landmark, reminding you, He brought me this far, He will take us the rest of the way. When the time is over, you’ll turn the key, and you’ll drive home. If you paint a mental picture, you’ll have a landmark for the next trial.

iPainting Bones

While I loved both Kirk and Picard, if you ask who my favorite Star Trek character of all time is, it’s Bones. Dr. McCoy, to me, was an amazing character, played by a gentleman named DeForest Kelley. Like his character, he was a southern gentleman.

The thing that I loved about him most, is very close to my heart. From a Leadership perspective, as someone who’s calling has been the Ministry of Helps all of my Ministry, I can identify with him.

He was a loyal friend to Captain Kirk, followed orders, and would protect his Captain and crew at every opportunity. That’s what I strive to do in some small way. I’m far from perfect at it, but I desire to serve, to loyally follow, and to protect whenever I can.

Verbal Steering

Be mindful of others. It’s very easy, it’s very human, to be so focused on what we’re facing that we miss things. If not careful, without any intention of doing it, we can miss other’s needs.

One tool to counteract this, is verbal steering. This is purposely working to verbally steer conversations to other’s. This is not about probing, but it’s more than just saying how are you doing. It’s an active effect to show those you value, how much you care.

I’m a student of, and far far from an expert at it, but I strive towards it. It’s primarily about caring for others, but you’ll learn things in the process. First you’ll learn how they are, what they are facing, and ways you can invest into their lives.

This will tell them, possibly in a difficult time, that they matter, and that someone cares. Some days we need this desperately, even if not going through a visible crisis. If they’re having a good day, this may be an anchor towards their next challenge.

Second, you may learn something that helps you in some way. This isn’t the reason, but it’s a benefit of caring. Care for others and you will be cared for. Love poured out overflows your fountain, God designed it this way.

Third, you will teach others in your lives how to care for others. I learned to care for people from those who cared for me. I hope I can pass this along to the people I am privileged to teach something along the way.

How are you all doing? Every person reading this is important. There is someone in your life that cares about you, even if it’s not always obvious. Please never allow events to make you doubt how special you all are.

We may never meet, but anyone who reads my posts are important to me. They have added value to my life by allowing me to, hopefully add value to them. It is my prayer today, that each of you realize God makes masterpieces. We need His help to reveal the beauty, but He crafts us all with a vision in mind.
